OVER FROM LUIZ!! The Brazil defender fancies a crack at goal from the free kick and almost makes it three as it loops on to the top of the net, echoing Ramires' effort from a moment earlier.
90' +2
Ba and Vermaelen chase a high ball and the defender is penalised for bringing down the striker. Technically he's the last man but the referee opts not to brandish a card of either colour. On another day that could have been quite the talking point!
90' +1
DEFLECTED OVER!! Ba brings a high ball down well for Essien who plays the ball inside to Ramires. The midfielder works the ball out from his feet before firing a shot which deflects off Vermaelen and loops onto the top of the net. Very close.
90'
JUST WIDE!! It's another shot off target for Arsenal as the hard-working Cazorla exchanges passes with Ozil before driving into the box and flashing an effort wide of the far post.
89'
Cazorla spreads wide to Jenkinson but the full-back's cross is poor and Essien comes away with it. The ball is floated over for Ba, who puts pressure on Vermaelen inside the box, but ends up fouling the Arsenal defender.
88'
Monreal is penalised for a foul on Ba in midfield, but seems to have come off worse and is limping away from that one.
87'
Rosicky looks for Monreal out wide with a flicked pass with the outside of his foot, but it goes straight out for a throw. That pretty much sums up Arsenal's night.
86'
Mata looks for Ba at the far post but it's headed away. Jenkinson then makes a hash of things, putting the ball out of play for a throw to the Blues.
85'
Ramires fires in a ball from the left but it's hacked clear by Arsenal. Chelsea then spread it to the right-hand side and Mata evades a challenge from Monreal before Vermaelen takes out Willian out by the touchline.
84'
That flurry of injuries and substitutions has really slowed things down, here. It looks like the result is all but confirmed now.
Minute
Description
83'
Monreal fires in a cross and Bertrand clears at the far post. Essien tries to clear but clashes with Cazorla. The midfielder wants a free kick but Arsenal carry on, although Monreal's second cross is also dealt with by the Chelsea defence.
81'
D. Ba enters the game and replaces S. Eto'o.
Park Chu-Young enters the game and replaces A. Ramsey.
Demba Ba is on for the visitors as Eto'o is replaced. Wenger, meanwhile, hauls off Ramsey in favour of Park Ju-Young as proceedings resume.
80'
There are now three Chelsea players on the ground! Eto'o and Luiz look like they're suffering from cramp as well as the full-back. This clearly shows the lack of match action for some of these players.
79'
Azpilicueta is down on the edge of the penalty area and Schwarzer throws it out of play so the defender can get treatment.
78'
Koscielny cuts out a pass by Willian and sets an Arsenal move forward. He continues his run and eventually tries to get on the end of a Ramsey cross from the right-hand side, but Schwarzer cuts it out easily.
77'
WILSHERE GOES CLOSE!! Arsenal are getting more chances, now, but again it's off target from distance as Wilshere strikes the ball just over the bar from a central position 20 yards out.
76'
Cazorla battles to keep possession in midfield before spreading wide to Jenkinson. The defender darts in from the left and tries to shoot but is quickly closed down.
75'
M. Essien gets yellow.
74'
BLOCKED! Giroud crosses in from the left and Bertrand's header out is poor, going straight to Rosicky on the edge of the box. The midfielder fires a volley at goal but the Chelsea left-back redeems himself by blocking the effort.
73'
Schwarzer claims a cross and hammers the ball into the Arsenal half right into the path of Eto'o. Chelsea have the ball where they want it and are looking very comfortable.
72'
NEARLY THREE!! Azpilicueta plays the ball inside for Essien, who finds Ramires with an excellent first-time ball. The midfielder gets to the by-line and plays it across goal. Koscielny is there to cut it out at the near post but treads on the ball and it nearly rolls into the net but he manages to clear it in time.
71'
Ozil whips in the set piece and Koscielny goes up for it against two Chelsea defenders. The ball flies behind and a goal kick is given, although no-one is really sure who got the last touch.
70'
Chance for Giroud! The substitute almost makes an immediate impact as he fires a low shot from the left corner of the six-yard box, but Schwarzer saves well. The hosts have another chance, though, as Eto'o brings down Cazorla 30 yards out...
69'
Ramires enters the game and replaces K. De Bruyne.
The hosts have the ball at the back; can they get back into the game? The stats show they've had no shots on target yet.
67'
O. Giroud enters the game and replaces N. Bendtner.
Giroud is on for Arsenal in immediate response to that strike. But it's a long way back for the Gunners now after that excellent goal.
66'
Mata has scored a goal for Chelsea!
MATA SCORES!! CHELSEA DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!! It's a fantastic strike from the Spaniard after Eto'o flicks back Bertrand's throw right from the by-line. Willian flicks it back to Mata, who works some space on the edge of the box before rifling a powerful right-footed effort into the top corner. A beautiful goal!
65'
Ozil's first contribution is to play a ball inside to Cazorla from the left, before making his second contribution in the form of a foul in midfield.
64'
So, Ozil is on for Arsenal. Can the big summer signing make an impact for the hosts?
63'
M. Özil enters the game and replaces R. Miyaichi.
CLOSE FROM RAMSEY!! That's the midfielder's best moment of the match as he works some space in the middle before firing a low 25-yard effort just wide of the goal.
62'
Essien gets well forward for Chelsea and plays it to Mata on the left-hand side of the box, but he doesn't really have an option and the Blues are forced to play it all the way back to the defence.
61'
We're entering the realm of potential substitutions now, then. Cahill obviously shrugged off that injury but could we see Arsenal make a tactical switch to try and find an equaliser?
60'
Mata shows real determination to hold Miyaichi off on the left-hand side and keep the ball for Chelsea. The Blues then move it around brilliantly with some crisp passing before Essien tries a backheeled volley towards De Bruyne, but Arsenal clear.
59'
Chelsea have weathered that early storm and are forging some attacks of their own, but are still keeping it patiently in midfield.
58'
Chelsea produce some lovely passing and Willian breaks down the right flank. He fires a low ball into the box but Monreal gets ahead of De Bruyne to hack it clear for Arsenal.
57'
Bendtner is penalised for a foul out on the touchline, gifting Chelsea possession. It would be quite a shock if he lasts 90 minutes tonight.
56'
Chelsea are just starting to feel the pressure, here. Mourinho is much more animated on the touchline after that Arsenal attack. The hosts are in possession again and have a chance to push forward.
55'
Why didn't he shoot?! The corner is cleared but Arsenal come back. Rosicky plays it into Bendtner, who has plenty of space in the area to fire a shot but elects to pass back to Ramsey on the edge of the box. Strange decision.
54'
That's poor from Bendtner, who just loses concentration with Arsenal in a good position and misplaces a pass, giving Chelsea a chance to break. The Gunners do well to come straight back, though, and Cahill has to slide in to conede a corner on the right.
53'
JUST WIDE! Ramsey goes very close for Arsenal as he picks the ball up on the edge of the box and fires for goal. It deflects off two defenders and skips just wide of Schwarzer's post.
52'
Wide from Cazorla! The midfielder has been Arsenal's best player so far tonight, and he fires a left-footed effort wide of goal from 25 yards.
51'
It looks like Cahill may have pulled something there, as Branislav Ivanovic is getting ready to come on for the Blues.
50'
It's been a slow, measured start from the visitors, who will undoubtedly try to keep things tight. Cahill, though, mishits a long ball straight out for a throw.
49'
WIDE! That's better from Eto'o, who runs in from the left before bending a right-footed effort towards goal, but it whistles wide of Fabianski's far post.
48'
Jenkinson's pass inside goes straight to De Bruyne in midfield. Chelsea spread the play to the other side and back before Bertrand's pass forward is cut out by Koscielny.
47'
Vermaelen lofts a ball forward for Bendtner but it goes straight through to Schwarzer. The goalkeeper's clearance is collected at the back by Arsenal before Mata trips Wilshere in midfield.
46'
We're back underway at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal get the second half started.
45'
The half's just fizzling out, somewhat. Bertrand hacks a clearance away into touch as we enter just one additional minute.
44'
Chants of "we are top of the league" ring around the Emirates Stadium. The Arsenal fans clearly want to remind the visitors of the Premier League standings despite the scoreline tonight.
43'
Mata works hard to track back and battles to win the ball back for Chelsea, before Mikel's ankles are clipped by Rosicky and Chelsea have a free kick.
42'
Essien is the latest to hang his head in shame. This time it's the midfielder's turn to produce a poor effort, slicing a 20-yard right-footed effort straight out for a throw. Not one for the highlights reel.
41'
Not long to go until the break, then. Arsenal's good spell seems to have gone for now, and Chelsea are controlling possession once more.
40'
Koscielny does brilliantly to cut out Willian's pass forward for De Bruyne, but then proceeds to give it away as his own pass goes straight through to Cahill. Ramsey then fouls Mikel in midfield as he tries to win it back, giving Chelsea a free kick in their own half.
38'
The set piece is cleared by Arsenal before it comes back out to De Bruyne on the left, but his delivery is poor and the Gunners have a goal kick.
37'
Mata has looked lively tonight, and he's almost in behind as he breaks down the left channel, but Ramsey recovers well to force it behind for a corner to Chelsea.
36'
Oh dear, Samuel Eto'o. He won't want to remember this shot in a hurry. The striker breaks into the area before swinging his left foot at the ball, but he slices it horribly and it goes all the way out for a throw.
35'
Ramsey does well to get out of trouble in his own half, before Koscielny gives it straight to Chelsea with a poor pass. The Blues take their time and work it backwards to keep possession.
34'
It's another disappointing delivery as Cazorla floats the ball in but Schwarzer comes out to claim it with ease.
33'
Rosicky spreads the ball wide to Monreal, who has acres of space and fires in a low cross. Essien gets to it but shanks his clearance behind the goal, giving Arsenal a corner...
32'
Just over half an hour gone and although Chelsea lead, Arsenal have grown into this game. Their midfield has struggled so far but they are putting more pressure on Chelsea now.
30'
Essien has the ball in midfield and pushes forward with a driving run. He then exchanges passes with Eto'o before blasting a long-range shot at goal, but it's blocked and goes out of play for a throw.
29'
M. Obi gets yellow.
JUST WIDE!! Azpilicueta gives the ball away on the Chelsea right and Monreal darts diagonally towards goal before flashing a low shot just wide of the far post. Arsenal so close to an equaliser!
28'
Wilshere does really well to avoid two poor challenges in midfeld before spreading it wide to Miyaichi. The winger is at full pelt but Willian slides across brilliantly to put the ball out of play.
26'
So Chelsea benefit from another defensive error; it was very similar to Torres' winner against Manchester City, in fact.
25'
César Azpilicueta has scored a goal for Chelsea!
AZPILICUETA SCORES!! CHELSEA LEAD!! Wilshere challenges Mikel in midfield but it flicks up high and goes back towards the Arsenal box. Jenkinson completely fluffs his header back and Azpilicueta gets there ahead of Fabianski to poke the ball into the corner of the net.
23'
Oh, Santi Cazorla, that's some lovely skill! Arsenal are under pressure in the corner before the Spaniard shows some stunning footwork to beat De Bruyne and nutmeg Essien. The Chelsea midfielder responds by fouling his opponent and the Gunners have a free kick.
22'
Close! Ramsey lifts a ball over the defence and Miyaichi is on the end of it, getting past Schwarzer, but the flag is up. The replay shows that the Arsenal man may have been level, though.
21'
Bertrand swings an early ball in from the left, and it drops level with the near post. Eto'o gets on the end of it but can only divert it behind for a goal kick.
20'
Luiz is penalised for a foul on Bendtner as he sticks tight to the Denmark striker. The ball in is a disappointing one, though, and Schwarzer comfortably plucks it out of the air.
19'
And we've had the first real shot on target! De Bruyne switches flanks, popping up on the left, and cuts inside before bending a shot from 20 yards, but it's an easy stop for Fabianski.
18'
The Gunners push down the left-hand side as Bendtner spreads it wide to Monreal. The striker then exchanges passes with Cazorla before it's worked to Ramsey, who sees a shot blocked from the edge of the box.
17'
Luiz cuts out a ball forward from Jenkinson and looks to run down the left, but Ramsey is there to win a throw off the defender and earn possession for Arsenal.
16'
Mikel has the ball in midfield and Mata makes a dangerous run through the middle, but the Nigerian opts to spread possession wide to Azpilicueta and Chelsea slow the move down.
15'
Cazorla swings the set piece right into the danger area but Eto'o is there to head away from right next to the near post. Good defending by the striker, there.
14'
Arsenal break quickly with a solid counter attack and Miyaichi wins a corner from the hosts as his cross is deflected behind..
13'
Jenkinson and Ramsey come under pressure by their own corener flag but do well to work the ball forward. Essien wins it back in midfield, though, and strides forward but hesitates and is easily dispossessed.
11'
Willian wins a corner after a fine pass out to the left by De Bruyne. The Brazilian takes the set piece himself but it's easily cleared, although Chelsea retain possession with a throw.
10'
Monreal advances down the left-hand side for the Gunners but sees his cross deflected high into the air. Bendtner gets up well to win the header in the box but it rolls tamely through to Schwarzer.
9'
Rosicky battles to win the ball in midfield before exchanging passes with Bendtner. The striker brings it under control before firing a 30-yard volley which hits Luiz.
8'
Arsenal are sitting very deep at the moment, and look happy to let Chelsea keep the ball. De Bruyne collects a pass down the right but is forced backwards, before the Blues switch play to the other side.
6'
Mata receives the ball on the edge of the box and tries to work it through for Eto'o with a reverse pass, but the Spain international is surrounded by defenders and Arsenal get the ball away.
5'
Chelsea have definitely settled better, here. The Blues are knocking it around inside the Arsenal half, but are keeping patient.
4'
Luiz almost sets his fellow defender Bertrand away with a fine ball over the top but it runs through to Fabianski. The goalkeeper hammers it forward straight away, and Miyaichi is chases it behind the defence but Chelsea clear.
3'
It's been a very good start from the visitors; Arsenal have hardly touched the ball. Bertrand's pass forward is cut out by Wilshere but the midfielder can only put the ball into touch.
2'
Some good early passing in midfield from Chelsea sees Mata set Eto'o away, and the striker sees his effort from a wide angle deflected behind by Koscielny.
1'
And we're underway as Chelsea get the game started.
Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of the pick of the Capital One Cup fourth round ties, as Arsenal take on Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. Both sides are flying high in the Premier League but tonight turn their attention to domestic cup affairs.
Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho are both expected to field weakened sides at the Emirates Stadium this evening, with the managers keeping one eye on their upcoming Premier League and Champions League fixtures.
And the teams have been announced, so first let's take a look at how Arsenal line up...
So, as expected there are plenty of changes but we've still got two strong-looking sides. Nicklas Bendtner, Nacho Monreal, Carl Jenkinson and Ryo Miyaichi are among those earning starts for the Gunners as Wenger makes eight changes from Saturday's 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
The visitors have also done plenty of tinkering, with only Gary Cahill surviving from the starting XI in the win over Manchester City on Sunday. Michael Essien makes a rare start in the Blues midfield while out-of-favour Juan Mata has the chance to make an impact tonight as Mourinho gives him a starting berth.
The two benches are slightly less familiar with some young talent popping up; Isaac Hayden and Nico Yennaris will be hoping to play a part for the hosts tonight, while 20-year-old Czech defender Tomas Kalas makes the Chelsea bench as he returns from a broken fibula sustained over the summer.
Arsenal came so close to ending their trophy drought in this competition in 2011, but were pipped in the final by Birmingham City. More pertinently, though, the Gunners were beaten by Chelsea in the 2007 final, and have lost their last three League Cup clashes against the west Londoners.
We can't forget the two managers, either. These two have always saved some choice words for the other, so that adds an extra little bit of spice to tonight's affair.
Under five minutes to go until kick-off at the Emirates Stadium, then. This is a very tough one to call with so many rested players, but let's hope for plenty of goals!
The players march out to a pretty full Emirates Stadium, so hopefully it'll be a fantastic atmosphere in north London tonight.
That's HALF TIME at the Emirates Stadium and Chelsea lead at the break thanks to Cesar Azpilicueta's poacher-style strike. The Blues have won the midfield battle and are deservedly ahead, but Arsenal have shown signs of improvement and are certainly not out of this one.
Mourinho will be satisfied with that first-half display from his much-changed side. It's been quiet, but solid as they've controlled the pace of the game. He will be hoping to see better from Eto'o, however, as the striker has been particularly quiet this evening.
That said, Bendtner's been even quieter at the other end. The Arsenal midfield is struggling to send anything his way and it could force a change from Wenger early in the second half.
Arsene Wenger has never beaten Jose Mourinho. Can his side turn things around after the break to rectify that? Just a few minutes to go until the restart.
It's FULL TIME at the Emirates Stadium and Chelsea run out 2-0 winners after a fine performance. Azpilicueta and Mata have done the job on the scoresheet for the Blues tonight and they go into the last eight.
That's two home defeats on the spin for Arsenal after their defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. They're entering a tough period with Premier League clashes against Liverpool and Manchester United either side of a visit to Jurgen Klopp's men.
That's all from our LIVE coverage of Arsenal v Chelsea tonight. Many thanks for joining us for Capital One Cup action, and remember there are more ties tomorrow! For now, though, it's good night!
