An excellent move down the right almost creates a chance for Ronaldo to get his fourth, but the ball is deflected away from him and that could well be the final chance of the match.
90' +1
We are into the first of a minimum of three added minutes.
90'
Koke launches a free-kick from inside his own half towards the Madrid box. Godin gets on the end of it but a header from 20 yards is never likely to go in! The hosts break and Asensio's attempt to pick out Ronaldo deflects off Koke and almost sneaks in inside the near post!
88'
MODRIC! That could've been game over! Modric cushions a cross with a header and gets on the end of it himself, volleying narrowly wide of Oblak's goal.
86'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Lucas Vázquez.
Vazquez has proved very lively since coming on, and he did brilliantly to beat Godin and get the ball into the danger area there.
GOOOOOOAAAL!! RONALDO HAS A HAT-TRICK! Just as he did against Bayern here in the last round, Ronaldo hits a trio. He dribbles in from the right and rolls a pass to Vazquez before moving into the middle. Vazquez gets past Godin and cuts back to the Portuguese, who takes a touch before guiding home his third with a cool finish! Surely that's one foot in the final for Madrid.
85'
Every Madrid pass is being greated with a "ole" from the crowd. They're clearly delighted with what they've seen! Ramos attempts to bypass the midfield with a long ball up to Vazquez, displaying great vision. Oblak races off his line and collects, though.
84'
Great effort from Griezmann! He tracks back on the left, getting between Asensio and the ball to stop the youngster creating another opportunity for Madrid.
83'
S. Savić gets yellow.
After playing the advantage, referee Atkinson goes back and books Savic for a late challenge on Ronaldo.
82'
Griezmann and Filipe Luis are involved in a neat triangle on the left, but the Frenchman's attempt to roll a first-time pass down the wing for the full-back ends up going out for a throw-in. It's not been his night.
Minute
Description
80'
Marcelo releases Asensio down the left. Lucas tracks him and forces the Madrid midfielder to turn back. As Koke closes he pulls off a Cruyff turn and charges towards the byline, pulling a cross back for Vazquez who miscues and fires harmlessly wide.
77'
Lucas Vázquez enters the game and replaces K. Benzema.
Atletico have a chance to put Madrid under pressure but Gaitan stalls before taking a free-kick, with Casemiro going down as the bodies move around frantically in the box and the referee blows for a foul.
That's the end of Benzema's night, with Vazquez sent on in his place. Zidane will hope his pace can cause a tiring Atletico further problems on the break.
75'
There's some daylight between the two sides, and the two-goal cushion will surely make Atletico more eager to nick an away goal before the final whistle. Otherwise they will host their rivals at Vicente Calderon knowing they cannot afford to concede.
73'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid!
GOOOOOOAAAAL!! RONALDO HAS HIS SECOND! Atletico are unable to hold out until the final whistle! Marcelo's pass inside is controlled by Benzema, who shows great strenght to hold off Godin and offload to Ronaldo. Filipe Luis tries to intervene but doesn't make strong enough contact, with the ball looping up for Ronaldo to thump it home!
72'
Koke whips a free-kick into the box from deep on the left, but Savic fouls Ronaldo in his attempt to get on the end of it. The defender clearly pushed the Portuguese over.
70'
Things are heating up now! Modric and Ronaldo make sure the referee is aware of a kick on the Croatian from Filipe Luis, and the left-back protests his innocence. He doesn't really have a strong case, though!
69'
Nacho goes down with a yelp after being caught by Gaitan. He was undoubtedly caught, but the tackle was by no means worthy of a booking.
68'
Á. Correa enters the game and replaces Y. Carrasco.
Marco Asensio enters the game and replaces Isco.
Having gone into a couple of tackles overzealously since being booked, Isco is hooked by Zidane and replaced by the promising Asensio.
Carrasco has probably been Atletico's most dangerous player in the second half, but he's the man who makes way for Correa.
67'
Kroos is fed by Casemiro and he closes in on the box before rolling a pass out wide to Benzema. His attempt to drill into the middle is woeful and flies high over the goal, a delivery that is met with whistles from the home crowd.
66'
Unsurprisingly it has been much tighter in this second half, and that's no doubt down to Simeone's half-time team talk. He will be hoping his side can absorb the pressure and strike late, just as they did in the Liga match here in February.
64'
That's a bit silly from Isco. He lunges in and catches Koke as he tries to switch play, a challenge that could well have been met with a yellow card. He's already been booked and is lucky to get away without further punishment there.
62'
Casemiro attempts to slide a pass into the feet of Ronaldo but Godin reads it, stepping out from the back to intercept. Atletico push forward down the left and a cross towards Griezmann is dealt with by Ramos. It's been a tough night for the Frenchman, he hasn't really asserted himself on the match.
60'
There are more whistles as Atletico work the ball down the left with a series of passes. Griezmann is released in behind and his driven delivery is too far ahead of Torres. The visitors keep possession, though, and Koke lashes an ambitious shot wide from 25 yards.
58'
N. Gaitán enters the game and replaces Saúl.
The other is Gaitan for Saul, so Koke will likely move into a more central position.
57'
Fernando Torres enters the game and replaces K. Gameiro.
A double change from Simeone. The first sees Torres comes on for Gameiro, who hasn't been able to build on his two goals at the weekend.
56'
Saul releases Gameiro down the left and he lays it off to Filipe Luis, whose control is poor. Madrid fail to get clear and Atletico get another chance to put the ball in the box, though Varane intervenes this time.
55'
Some excellent tracking back from Benzema sees him nip in and intercept Saul's pass to Koke, propelling his side back up the other end. When a move down the left comes to nothing Madrid turn back and opt to take their time.
53'
Saúl gets yellow.
Nacho sets off down the right and goes down after feeling the arm of Saul on his shoulder. It's enough to earn the midfielder a yellow card from the referee.
52'
Carrasco goes down under a challenge from Ramos far too easily and Madrid break through Ronaldo down the right. He gets to the byline and plays a low cross towards the near post which Saul is on hand to put out for corner. The delivery finds the head of Godin, who gets the ball away from danger.
50'
Ramos lunges in on Griezmann from behind and gifts Atletico a free-kick near the halfway line. Gabi lifts it down the right for Lucas, but Madrid manage to get it clear.
48'
Isco gets yellow.
Isco is shown a yellow card for a late challenge on Lucas after the right-back launches a misplaced pass from Griezmann out of the box.
47'
Atletico hold possession for the opening moments but Carrasco's attempt at a one-two with Griezmann fails to come to anything. Madrid attack down the left and Ronaldo wins a free-kick which is taken short.
46'
Nacho enters the game and replaces Dani Carvajal.
As expected, Carvajal is off due to that injury and Nacho takes his place.
We are back underway at the Bernabeu.
45' +3
There is the half-time whistle!
45' +2
Carvajal is down and looks to be in some pain, beating the turf in frustration. He's likely to be forced off, just as he was in last season's Champions League final. Nacho is warming up on the sidelines.
45'
Marcelo turns away from two Atletico players and drives to the byline, where Lucas gets a touch to concede a corner. Kroos' corner is cleared as far as Modric, who rifles wide. We are going to have at least one added minute.
43'
Carvajal gets his head to a cross from the right to stop Carrasco getting on the end of it, but he sends the ball back into the danger area. Griezmann looks to get underneath it and is towered over by Navas, who catches cleanly. Casemiro returns with some tissue stuck to his lip.
41'
Casemiro has stayed down in the box after being caught between Ramos and Godin from the last corner and appears to have a bloody lip. Zidane will be hopeful he can continue. The Brazilian has never lost a match against Atletico!
40'
Carrasco somehow gets a cross beyond Marcelo and towards Koke at the near post. Ramos puts it out for a corner which Koke fires towards the penalty spot. Godin is unable to head goalwards but Ronaldo slices his attempted cleared behind. There is no luck from the consequent set-piece.
39'
It's been a brilliant half for Isco. He appears to be enjoying a free role, floating across the forward line and dropping off to orchestrate the play. He's combing with all his team-mates well and Atletico need to find a way to restrict his influence.
37'
Koke picks out Carrasco on the right and he drives towards the byline. He tries to square for Gameiro in the middle but his cross deflects off Marcelo and is dealt with by the Madrid defence.
36'
Varane makes an important challenge on Gameiro with Atletico looking at a potential two-on-two as Griezmann charged up in support. They've struggled to carve out openings so far, with the midfield and attack now quite linking up well enough.
34'
Madrid probe down the right and the left before eventually ceding possession. Atletico's attempt at a swift break ends up giving the ball straight back to their opponents.
32'
The free-kick was in a central position 30 yards from goal, and rather than shoot Griezmann drops an exquisite chip in behind the defence. Godin is the man to connect and he struggles to control a volley while stretching, blasting the ball into the stand behind the goal.
31'
Carrasco picks up the ball near the centre circle and surges forward to put Madrid's defence under pressure. He chops inside and is cut down by Carvajal, with Atletico getting a free-kick in a dangerous position.
29'
THAT WOULD'VE BEEN SPECIAL! Makeshift right-back Lucas fails to stop Ronaldo digging out a cross in a one-on-one, and Benzema comes close to adding a phenomenal finish. His instinctive overhead kick narrowly misses the target, and the Bernabeu crowd applaud nevertheless.
28'
Atletico enjoy another decent spell of possession inside the Madrid half. They fail to penetrate the opposition box and Filipe Luis bends a wayward cross to Isco, who does his best to stop the visitors gaining momentum be slowing the tempo.
26'
Koke gets yellow.
Koke is the first player to go into the book for pullig Modric back as Madrid looked to break after clearing the Atletico midfielder's poor cross.
25'
STAT: Ronaldo has scored the most semi-final goals in Champions League history with 11.
24'
JUST WIDE! Oblak opts to dive forwards and punch Marcelo's dangerous cross away. It only goes as far as Modric, who comes forwards and pings a low shot towards the bottom-left corner that skids beyond the upright.
22'
Koke swings a deep free-kick in from the left and Varane is forced to head it behind. The next set-piece delivery from the Spain international is nowhere near as good and is cleared at the near post.
20'
Carvajal makes another forward run on the right and this time he sends a low delivery into the centre. It's too far ahead of the run of Isco but it goes to the feet of Benzema. It's a poor effort from the striker, though, who scuffs a shot up into the arms of Oblak.
19'
Anyone who may have been expecting a turgid affair will be pleasantly surprised - this has been an open game with a number of chances already. Madrid look more dangerous when attacking, but you can never write Atletico off.
17'
SUPERB FROM NAVAS! Koke slides an exquisite pass in behind Varane which Gameiro latches onto. He tries to go around the onrushing Navas with his first-touch, but the Costa Rica international stretches out his right hand and makes an important intervention.
16'
WHAT A SAVE FROM OBLAK! Kroos' curls in the resultant corner and it finds Varane, who powers a header towards the bottom-right corner. Oblack springs to his left and stretches out a hand to deny him.
15'
Claims for a penalty as Marcelo dribbles into the box and looks to dig out a cross towards the back-post, with the ball deflected behind off an Atletico player. The left-back says it came off a hand, but referee Martin Atkinson is having none of it.
14'
Varane drills a low pass towards the bottom of the box and Ronaldo flicks it towards Benzema with a brilliant first-touch flick. The Frenchman didn't appear to be expecting it and ends up seeing it fly beyond him.
12'
That goal will come as a huge blow for Atletico, who had started this match positively. Their defensive frailties have been exploited early on by Madrid, though.
10'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Casemiro.
Casemiro didn't catch the volley cleanly, but it ended up being the perfect assist for Ronaldo's 101st Champions League goal.
GOOOOOOOAAAL!! RONALDO OPENS THE SCORING! It's first blood to Madrid! Savic gets a head to Ramos' cross but it drops for Casemiro on the right-hand side of the box, and he volleys it back into the centre. The ball bounces off the ground and lands on the head of Ronaldo, who steers beyond Oblak.
9'
Kroos delivers a free-kick from the left which Savic heads away as far as Marcelo. Madrid reset the attack and Casemiro attempts to lift a pass over the defence for Ronaldo, but Savic follows his run and nods it out of play for a corner.
7'
HOW HAS THAT STAYED OUT?! Carvajal initiates a one-two with Isco from the right and stabs a shot with the outside of his right foot that Oblak can only push into the danger area. It falls for Benzema, but he cannot adjust quickly enough to turn the ball back on target, with the keeper helping it behind.
6'
Whistles engulf the Bernabeu as Atletico hold possession inside the opposition half. Filipe Luis drives forward from the left and plays a one-two with Gameiro, who does well to hold up the ball before offloading the return to the Brazilian. He tries another give-and-go with Griezmann but it's snuffed out.
4'
Varane feeds Ronaldo with a neat pass and the Portuguese turns and sprints towards goal. He fires an ambitious shot from in excess of 25 yards and catches it poorly, sending the ball high and wide into the stands.
3'
Isco drops incredibly deep to come and get the ball but he ends up giving it away. Atletico look to break down the left and Carrasco bends a cross beyond the back post that was nowhere near a team-mate.
2'
Atletico press high during the early stages, looking to force errors in the Madrid defence. It's unlikely to be a tactic they will maintain for the whole game, but they're just letting their opponents no they are not afraid and ready for the fight.
1'
Atletico get the ball rolling!
It's Champions League semi-finals time! This is the first leg of a mouthwatering tie between neighbours Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid from Santiago Bernabeu. This rivalry has moved to another level in recent seasons with numerous continental meetings, and we're going to witness the start of another thrilling chapter tonight.
Madrid and Atletico are looking to reach their third final in four seasons, and recent history would suggest Zinedine Zidane's men will be the ones to advance. They defeated Atletico to lift the trophy in the 2013-14 and 2015-16 showpieces, adding a quarter-final triumph over their local adversaries in between. It's far from a foregone conclusion, though, with Diego Simeone's side capable of grinding out a result against any team.
The teams have been announced. Let's see how the teams will be shaping up tonight.
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Marcelo; Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Luka Modric; Isco, Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Atletico Madrid (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Lucas Hernandez, Stefan Savic, Diego Godin, Filipe Luis; Koke, Gabi, Saul Niguez, Yannick Carrasco; Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro.
Real Madrid substitutes: Kiko Casilla, Nacho Fernandez, Mateo Kovacic, Marco Asensio, James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez, Alvaro Morata.
Atletico Madrid substitutes: Miguel Angel Moya, Alberto Rodriguez, Tiago, Thomas Partey, Nicolas Gaitan, Angel Correa, Fernando Torres.
Madrid have Varane back from a hamstring injury to boost the centre of their defence tonight, but Gareth Bale is unavailable due to a calf issue. Isco is rewarded for his fine recent form with a starting berth, but don't be surprised to see him operate more centrally to allow Ronaldo to come in off the left.
Simeone arrives at the Bernabeu in the midst of a defensive crisis, with Jose Gimenez picking up an adductor strain during the 5-0 win at Las Palmas on Saturday. He had been filling in at right-back due to injuries to Juanfran and Sime Vrsaljko, so Lucas - who signed a new contract with the club on Monday - looks set to start on the outside of the defence, though Savic could well assume that spot.
Madrid are yet to taste defeat in this season's Champions League, winning seven and drawing the other three of their 10 matches. Furthermore, they've lost just two of their 41 home matches in this competition since 2010-11. That's pretty formidable form.
The teams are heading out onto the pitch to take in that spine-tingling Champions League music. What an atmosphere. The stands are white and purple, with huge Madrid-themed tifos at either end of the ground.
The pre-match formalities are almost over, so kick-off will be upon us in a few moments.
HALF-TIME - Real Madrid 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Zidane's side head into the break with the lead thanks to Ronaldo's 10th minute header. It's a deserved lead; they've been on top for much of the half. Atletico have found chances hard to come by, with Gameiro's first touch letting him down in their best opening.
Nacho did not replace Carvajal before half-time, so Madrid will be hoping some treatment during the break will be sufficient for him to continue.
FULL-TIME - Real Madrid 3-0 Atletico Madrid: A hat-trick from Ronaldo has surely put Zidane's side on the brink of the final, with a chance to become the first side to retain the Champions League trophy in history. It's more derby glory for Madrid in Europe, with Atletico facing a huge, huge task at the Calderon in the second leg.
