No, they can't. The set-piece is poked over to Fraser and sets up the midfielder to shoot, but his first-time strike is fired straight into the hands of De Gea in the middle of the goal. That should be that for United.
90' +3
Another determined Bournemouth attacking move results in a free-kick for the visitors in an incredibly dangerous position after Ake's chipped pass hits the arm of Matic just outside of the penalty area. Can they make it count?
90' +2
Chance for Lukaku to wrap up the win! Mata is left all alone over on the left flank, allowing him to break into the box and cut a pass back to Lukaku. The Belgian quickly shoots, but Ake is there to throw his body in the way of the striker's effort.
90' +1
Bournemouth are firmly on the front foot as they pile plenty of bodies forward. Ake charges down the right flank and plays a clever one-two with Fraser, but the latter isn't able to get a cross away and instead loses out to a great sliding tackle from Herrera that leaves him flat on the floor.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be four minutes of added time.

Francis skips down the right wing and easily manages to get the better of his marker as he heads towards the byline. He then chips a lovely cross right onto the head of Afobe, but, off balance, the striker can't test De Gea with a decent header.
87'
Space opens up for United on the counter after a Bournemouth attack fails to come to anything, but Lukaku can't make his way past the halfway line and set up Rashford due to a good tackle from Ake.
85'
More good play from Defoe as the striker darts into the left-hand side of the United box and stops a loose ball from bouncing out for a goal-kick. He then spins and tries to pick out Afobe, but Jones is just about able to beat him to the pass at the vital moment.
83'
A. Young enters the game and replaces L. Shaw.
Shaw receives a rousing round of applause from the United fans as he's replaced by Ashley Shaw.
82'
Martial loses the ball on the edge of the Bournemouth box and the visitors quickly counter-attack. Smith and Defoe link up really well inside the hosts' penalty area before the striker shoots, but his thumping strike is saved by the legs of De Gea at the near post.

Description
81'
Lewis Cook is the latest Bournemouth player to dart deep into the United half of the pitch before winning his side a corner. It initially fails to result in a chance on goal before Francis sends a great cross over to Ake, who beats Jones to the ball but can't hit the target with his looping header.
79'
Bournemouth are enjoying a decent spell of possession as they continue to put the United back line under some pressure. Smith skips down to the edge of the box before trying to pick out Defoe, but his cross is slightly overhit for the striker and, despite his best efforts, the latter can't quite get a head on the ball.
77'
L. Cook enters the game and replaces D. Gosling.
Bournemouth have made their third and final change of the night, with Lewis Cook coming on to replace Gosling.
76'
Almost a chance for Afobe! King drifts out to the right wing and picks up the ball in a promising position. He then chips a well-placed cross over to the near post and towards Afobe, who goes close to latching onto the ball but is just about beaten to it by Jones.
74'
Bournemouth move the ball around nicely as they string together a decent series of passes. Fraser links up nicely with Defoe and sets up the substitute to cut onto his right foot and shoot, but his low strike is a tame one and fails to cause any problems for De Gea.
72'
What a strike by Rashford! A low cross is fired into the visitors' penalty area by Mata, and it rolls just behind Lukaku in the middle of the box. The ball finds its way over to Rashford, who unleashes an absolutely wonderful shot from 25 yards that beats Begovic only to smash off the woodwork.
71'
Ander Herrera enters the game and replaces J. Lingard.
J. Defoe enters the game and replaces J. Stanislas.
B. Afobe enters the game and replaces C. Wilson.
Bournemouth have decided to make a double substitution as they try to find a way back into the game. The first player to make way is Wilson, who's replaced by Benik Afobe.
And the second is Stanislas, with Jermain Defoe replacing him.
Meanwhile, United have brought on Ander Herrera to take the place of Lingard.
70'
More good play from United almost results in another opportunity for Rashford to break into the Bournemouth box, but Smith is just about able to get ahead of him deep down the left wing before blasting the ball out for a throw-in.
68'
Almost an opportunity for Lingard! Space opens up for McTominay, who charges down the right channel on a wonderful run. He then fires a low cross into the penalty area that picks out Rashford, who spins and sets up Lingard only for the forward to lose his feet just as he's about to pull the trigger.
67'
Smith bursts down and takes on Jones, who is forced into poking the ball behind for Bournemouth's first corner of the second half. It's swung in by Stanislas and pinballs around dangerously, but Mata is eventually able to blast the ball away before King can get a shot away.
66'
M. Rashford enters the game and replaces A. Martial.
United have made their first substitution of the night, with Marcus Rashford coming on to replace Martial.
64'
H. Arter gets yellow.
Arter cynically scissored Lingard to the ground in the build-up to United's earlier attacking move, and he's eventually shown a yellow card once the ball finally goes out of play.
63'
Martial is the latest United player to get close to going one-on-one with Begovic, but Francis is there on the edge of the Bournemouth penalty area to dispossess the Frenchman before he's able to get a shot away.
62'
Almost a great chance for Lukaku to make it 2-0! Another attempted Bournemouth attack breaks down, allowing United to counter swiftly. Lingard bursts forward before setting up Martial, who then bursts towards the box and pokes a pass into the box. It looks set to find Lukaku, but Nathan Ake is just about able to beat the striker to the ball at the vital moment.
60'
What a miss by Martial! Bournemouth are caught at sixes and sevens at the back, allowing Lukaku to charge into the left-hand side of the penalty area and latch onto a loose ball. He then cuts a pass back to Martial, who somehow manages to blast his eight-yard shot high over the crossbar.
58'
A Gosling pass is easily cut out by Jones and United counter-attack quickly. Mata and Lingard link up really well on the edge of the box before the latter shoots, but he can't quite guide his strike through a sea of light blue shirts.
56'
Lukaku makes a good run down the right wing and does well to keep a Scott McTominay lofted pass from bouncing out of play. The ball is quickly sent back to the midfielder, who swings a cross into the penalty area that Begovic is just about able to deal with under pressure from Martial.
54'
Fraser cuts inside on a quick win and manages to carve out a pocket of space for himself. He then unleashes a shot from 25 yards out, but, luckily for De Gea, it's quite a tame one and is easily stopped by the Spaniard in the middle of the goal.
52'
Vital block by Gosling! A great cross from Martial loops into the heart of the visitors' box and picks out Lukaku, who quickly knocks the ball down to Mata. The Spaniard immediately shoots, but Gosling is there to get a foot on the ball to deflect the strike behind for a corner.
50'
Martial is the latest United player to sprint into the Bournemouth penalty area at the end of another good move from the home side. He manages to get the better of Adam Smith before going down on the byline, but he ended up losing his footing rather than being fouled by the right-back.
49'
Patient build-up by United results in Lukaku bursting into the box and towards the byline. He then cuts a clever pass back towards Lingard, who tries to latch onto the ball a few yards away from goal but is beaten to it by Begovic.
48'
Wilson and King have linked up nicely on several occasions this evening, but they're yet to properly test De Gea. More good play between the two almost results in a chance on goal for the Norwegian, but he loses out to Jones, who is then clattered into by a mistimed challenge from Stanislas as he tries to break away.
46'
We're underway once again!
45' +2
Almost an equaliser for Bournemouth! Fraser, who has looked bright over on the left flank, gets the better of Valencia and unleashes an audacious cross-cum-shot. De Gea is caught off his line and is almost beaten at the near post, but the Spaniard recovers well and pushes the ball away from danger.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be two minutes of added time.
44'
Sloppy play from Matic gifts the ball to Bournemouth and allows them to counter-attack quickly, but Daniels can't take advantage of the error and ends up firing his long-range pass past Fraser and out for a goal-kick.
43'
R. Lukaku gets yellow.
After dealing with the danger, Bournemouth try to counter-attack through Arter, but the midfielder is barged into from behind by Lukaku and the striker becomes the second player to be shown a yellow card.
42'
And now Martial goes close! Mata fires another great cross into the middle of the visitors' penalty area and over to Martial, who is in a great position to shoot but loses his footing at the vital moment before the linesman's flag is eventually raised.
40'
Huge chance for Lukaku! Shaw sprints down the left wing and fires a great cross into the heart of the Bournemouth box, where it narrowly misses Lukaku. Antonio Valencia quickly picks up the ball and blasts it back towards the Belgian, who can't quite sort his feet out in time before being flagged offside before he can shoot.
38'
Arter is able to get back to his feet and the game gets underway once again. Bournemouth aren't able to do much with their attacking move, however, as a misplaced pass completely misses Fraser and flies out of play for a throw-in on the left wing.
37'
Arter looked to receive a blow to the back as he successfully dispossessed Lukaku, and it's left him in a bit of discomfort and in need of the Bournemouth medical team. He should be able to continue, though.
36'
Lukaku does well to muscle his way through a sea of Bournemouth players as he charges his way towards the Bournemouth box. He looks to unleash a shot, but Arter is there to dispossess the striker with a well-timed sliding tackle.
34'
Huge chance for Francis to equalise! A curling corner isn't dealt with by Lukaku, who can only knock the ball out to Francis. The defender quickly shoots, but his half-volleyed effort is horribly scuffed and sails high over the crossbar.
32'
Shaw causes more problems over on the left flank as he continues darting deep into the Bournemouth half of the pitch. He tries to pick out Lukaku with another low cross, but this time it's sent just behind the striker and can't quite reach him.
30'
Once again, Bournemouth cause problems for the home side with some clever play inside the final third of the pitch. Stanislas darts into the penalty area and quickly shoots, but his low effort is well stopped by De Gea before Arter's follow-up is poked just wide.
29'
Vital interception by Francis! Shaw embarks on his first decent run of the night as he sprints down the left wing and towards the byline. He then cuts into the box and crosses, but Francis is just about able to poke the ball behind for a corner before it can pick out a red shirt.
28'
D. Gosling gets yellow.
The Bournemouth players are clearly frustrated that Lingard didn't receive a yellow card for his challenge and Gosling ends up flying into Jones with a late challenge. Unsurprisingly, it earns him the first booking of the night.
27'
Bournemouth quickly try to push forward from the restart after carving out some space for themselves over on the left flank, but Fraser is clattered into by Lingard and is left in a heap on the floor.
25'
R. Lukaku has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by Mata.
Mata's delivery into the Bournemouth box was a good one, but the visitors failed to pick him up and left him all alone 20 yards away from goal. The Spaniard has been floated all over the pitch, which has caused problems for the Cherries.
GOAL! United have taken the lead! They've been far from convincing, but the home side have gone 1-0 up with their first effort on target. Martial skips down the left flank, spins and picks out Mata, who then floats a wonderful cross over to Lukaku and sets up the Belgian to beat Begovic with a well-placed header.
24'
Excellent tackle by Arter! Lingard dances his way through a sea of Bournemouth midfielders and looks set to penetrate the penalty area. He goes to shoot, but he's dispossessed from behind by a great sliding tackle from Arter at the vital moment.
23'
And now Gosling goes close! Fraser sprints down the left wing on a great run before chipping a dangerous cross into the middle of the United box. It narrowly misses the head of King before being picked up by Gosling, who comfortably beats Luke Shaw before forcing De Gea into making another good stop.
22'
Another good chance for Bournemouth! This time it's Charlie Daniels who cuts inside from the left flank and easily skips past Mata on his way towards the penalty area. He then unleashes a thumping strike from 20 yards out, but David De Gea gets down low to tip the effort away from danger.
20'
Once again, Wilson and King link up nicely deep inside the United half of the pitch, allowing the Norway international to slip into the box. He then takes on Jones and gets a shot away, but the defender sticks out a foot to deny the striker the opportunity to test De Gea.
19'
Almost a chance for Lukaku! Anthony Martial is left in far too much space out wide, allowing him to cut inside and chip a cross into the heart of the Bournemouth box. Lukaku makes a good run towards it, but he can't quite latch onto the slightly overhit pass.
17'
The corner is sent short and worked over to Dan Gosling, who swings in a lovely cross that Jones does well to head behind for another corner. This time Bournemouth go short and tee up Junior Stanislas, who shoots from 25 yards out but has his effort quickly charged down.
16'
King and Wilson link up nicely on the edge of the United penalty area to set up the latter to take on Phil Jones. The centre-back initially looks to have got the better of Wilson, but he loses his footing as he tries to clear the ball and ends up giving away a corner.
14'
Chris Smalling wins the ball back for the home side on the halfway line, allowing United to quickly counter-attack through Lukaku. The striker charges towards the box before teeing up Lingard, who looks to have won a corner under pressure from Simon Francis only for the decision to go against him.
12'
Bournemouth are camped deep inside their own half of their pitch as they try to keep a determined United side at bay. Mata is eventually able to cut inside from the left before trying to pick out Romelu Lukaku, but his cross is overhit and sails high over the head of the Belgian.
10'
Bournemouth show a desire to quickly counter-attack once again after space opens up over on the left flank, but this time it's Ryan Fraser who can't quite penetrate the penalty area, with United doing well to deal with the threat.
8'
An attempted United attack fails to come to anything, allowing Bournemouth to break forward on their first decent attack of the game. Josh King bursts through the middle of the pitch and tries to tee up Callum Wilson, but his pass is slightly overhit and can only find the feet of Nemanja Matic.
6'
Harry Arter commits a clumsy foul out wide, presenting United with a good opportunity to swing a cross into the penalty area. It's Mata who launches the ball in, but he can't quite pick out a team-mate and the danger is easily dealt with by the visitors.
4'
Lingard tries to find more joy inside the final third of the pitch as United continue putting more early pressure on the Bournemouth back line, but he can't quite keep the ball in play over on the left wing and ends up running it out for a throw-in.
2'
Early chance for United! Juan Mata makes a good run down the right flank and darts into the Bournemouth box before dinking a cross over to Jesse Lingard. The forward tries to test Asmir Begovic with an audacious overhead kick, but he can't get it quite right and fails to hit the target.
1'
We're off! Bournemouth get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Manchester United and Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
It was a weekend to forget for United, who suffered a deeply frustrating defeat at home to rivals City to severely dent their chances of catching the current Premier League leaders. The Red Devils now sit 11 points behind after just 16 games, and they’ll be well aware that they can’t afford any more slip ups as they desperately try to keep putting as much pressure as they can on their noisy neighbours.
The aftermath of United’s derby defeat was dominated by reports of a bust-up in the tunnel, and they desperately need to quickly move on if they’re to put their problems behind them. A failure to do so would leave them in danger of dropping below Chelsea, who moved level on points with United thanks to yesterday’s victory away to Huddersfield.
It’s been a difficult few weeks for Bournemouth, who are without a win in their last four league games after being held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace on the weekend. Other results have gone against them during that time as well, leaving the Cherries just three points clear of the relegation zone heading into tonight’s clash against a side desperate to return to winning ways.
Another game without a victory would certainly give boss Eddie Howe a real headache, especially as this evening’s contest comes at the start of a really tough run of fixtures for his team. They must face Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City in the build-up to Christmas, meaning it could end up being a pretty miserable festive period for them if they aren’t at their best throughout.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Bournemouth substitutes: Boruc, Steve Cook, Lewis Cook, Surman, Ibe, Afobe, Defoe.
Manchester United substitutes: Romero, Blind, Lindelof, Young, Herrera, Rashford, Ibrahimovic.
Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Shaw; McTominay, Matic; Lingard, Mata, Martial; Lukaku.
Jose Mourinho has decided to make four changes to the United side that lost in the Manchester derby on the weekend, with the most notable inclusion being Luke Shaw, who is set to start a Premier League game for the first time this season. He comes into the starting line-up to replace Ashley Young, while Phil Jones, Scott McTominay and Juan Mata are also in for Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has also made four alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Steve Cook, Lewis Cook, Andrew Surman and Jermain Defoe making way for Adam Smith, Dan Gosling, Harry Arter and Callum Wilson, respectively.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 BOURNEMOUTH
United haven't been at their best yet, but they nonetheless head into the half-time break with a one-goal lead after being marginally the better of the two sides. Lukaku's towering header is all that separates the teams at the moment, but the hosts will be well aware that they'll need to improve in the second period if they're to see off a Bournemouth side that have looked dangerous when breaking forward.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 BOURNEMOUTH
It wasn't a vintage United performance, but after their disappointing derby defeat on the weekend, they won't care too much. The most important thing was for the Red Devils to return to winning ways, and that's exactly what they managed to thanks to Lukaku's header. They went close to increasingly their lead on a couple of occasions in the second half but, overall, they seemed perfectly happy to sit back and soak up the pressure being put on them.
Bournemouth will feel frustrated at having to leave empty-handed, as they certainly impressed when pushing forward. They finished the game strongly and made life tough for the United back line, but, in the end, they didn't quite have enough in the tank to find that all-important equaliser. As a result, it's now five games without a victory for the Cherries.
