Tottenham take the lead inside 11 seconds as Kane and Alli win a series of headers in the United box and the ball falls kindly for Eriksen. The Dane has the time to pick his spot unmarked six yards out and he does not disappoint with a left-footed finish past De Gea.
Jose Mourinho's men are well off City's pace at the top of the Premier League. However, they are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches and will be determined to maintain their grip on second place. The signing of Sanchez should see them dominate in the final third for the rest of the campaign, adding his prowess to the likes of Lukaku, Lingard and Rashford.
United eased past Yeovil Town in their FA Cup clash, securing a 4-0 win to move into the fifth round. There was no debut goal for Sanchez in the contest, but Jesse Lingard continued his good form, while Ander Herrera, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford also found the net.
Pochettino's men are unbeaten in the Premier League in their last six matches since suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the middle of December. Liverpool's win over Huddersfield has moved them six points clear of Spurs in fourth place, putting pressure on them to respond this evening.
Despite naming a strong team, Totttenham were unable to defeat League Two outfit Newport County on the road in their FA Cup fourth round clash last time out. Mauricio Pochettino's men will have to forego a replay at Wembley to decide the contest. Something which they could have done without. Spurs must now put their frustrations to one side and focus on the challenge of facing United boosted by the presence of Alexis Sanchez.

Tottenham are in control at the break against Manchester United holding a 2-0 advantage thanks to a strike from Christian Eriksen and an own goal from Phil Jones. The match could not have started better for the home side as they took the lead after 11 seconds when Eriksen pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home. United mustered a response and had a couple of half-chances, but were dealt a blow when Jones sliced Kieran Trippier's cross into his own net. From that point onwards Spurs dominated, but could not find the third goal to put the game firmly in their hands. There's work to be done by Jose Mourinho at the interval.

Tottenham put forward a strong performance to see off Manchester United this evening to keep themselves in the battle for a top-four place.
