We're underway in this Premier League clash.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Stoke and Tottenham at the bet365 Stadium.
Stoke are in a desperate battle at the bottom of the Premier League, with the club currently three points adrift of safety. The margin does not seem great the moment, although the Potters have recorded just one win in their last nine matches. Paul Lambert's men have lost three on the bounce, including their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal last time out.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Tottenham all but secured their place in the Champions League next season with their impressive win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week. Spurs are unbeaten in their last 13 Premier League matches, dropping just six points in the process. The second half of the campaign has again been a strong one for the north London outfit. They will be eyeing a strong performance to leapfrog Liverpool into third place, with four goals separating the sides on goal difference.
STOKE (4-4-1-1): Jack Butland; Glen Johnson, Ryan Shawcross, Bruno Martins Indi, Erik Pieters; Moritz Bauer, Joe Allen, Badou Ndiaye, Ramadan Sobhi; Xherdan Shaqiri; Mame Biram Diouf.
Stoke subs: Kurt Zouma, Stephen Ireland, Geoff Cameron, Darren Fletcher, Peter Crouch, Jakob Haugaard, Tyrese Campbell.
TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris; Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose; Victor Wanyama, Moussa Dembele; Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min; Harry Kane.
Tottenham subs: Erik Lamela, Michel Vorm, Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Fernando Llorente, Lucas Moura, Ben Davies.
Stoke are unchanged from their defeat to Arsenal last week as Lambert keeps faith with his starting line-up, despite their late capitulation. Fletcher and Zouma return to the bench to give Lambert options with experience.
Kane returns to lead the line for Tottenham, making his first start since March 11 after recovering from an ankle problem. Lamela drops to the bench to accomodate the forward, while Rose, Aurier and Wanyama also come into the fold as Pochettino rotates his squad.
FLASHBACK! Tottenham hammered Stoke 5-1 in their contest at Wembley earlier this season. Kane notched a brace, while Son and Eriksen also got on the scoresheet, with Shawcross conceding an own goal.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: STOKE 0-0 TOTTENHAM
It's all square at the break between Stoke and Tottenham. Both teams have had one clear-cut opening apiece in the first half. Stoke should have taken the lead when Mame Biram Diouf latched on to Erik Pieters' low cross, only to guide his effort over the bar. Dele Alli released Son Heung-min through on goal, but the winger failed to beat Jack Butland. Tottenham have been the better side, but it remains goalless.
FULL-TIME: STOKE 1-2 TOTTENHAM
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Tottenham continue their impressive run of form with a 2-1 victory this afternoon. Goals from Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane were enough to hand them the three points, although they were not quite at their best. The Potters are staring the Championship in the face as they suffered their fourth defeat on the bounce. They're now four points adrift of safety, with five matches remaining. Mame Biram Diouf's leveller game them hope, but they struggled for quality in the final third. It's going to take something special to save them.
