Cruyff supports Ajax policy

Dutch legend Johan Cruyff has backed Ajax's financial policy, saying players who only want money should leave the club.

The Eredivisie champions are operating on a tight budget as they look to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window, and the 65-year-old said the club are right to keep their finances under control.

"It is very good that Ajax have drawn clear financial boundaries," Cruyff told Voetbal International.

"The feeling of honour and the policy of Ajax's officials are now the club's principals.

"The new players who come to Ajax must be aware of that. If they want to play just to make money, they should go to another club.

"I have been told that coach Frank de Boer carries out these ideas perfectly."

Cruyff then said that he hopes retired winger Marc Overmars will join Ajax's backroom staff, saying: "He would be a great addition to the club.

"Ajax are a company, so you need a 'football guy' in the ranks. When you have got Frank de Boer, Dennis Bergkamp, Wim Jonk and Marc Overmars at your club, you cannot complain."
