Naldo wants Elia at Bremen

5 July 2012 11:26

Werder Bremen defender Naldo would like Eljero Elia to join him from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old was hailed as the man to end Juve's wing woes last season after arriving from Hamburg, but he made just four appearances last season under Antonio Conte for the eventual Serie A winners.

Having been deemed surplus to requirements, he has been linked with a host of clubs - including Bremen, who are keen to replace new Chelsea signing Marko Marin - and the Brazilian stopper admitted he would be delighted to see such a 'great player' become his team-mate.

"If Elia joins from Juventus, that would be great," Naldo told Bild.

"I played against him when he was at Hamburg. He is a great player who can help us. I would be happy if the transfer went through."

A move may be in the pipeline if Kicker is to be believed. The publication claims Elia was in Bremen this week to negotiate a possible switch, having recently seen a transfer request granted by Juve.

However, Juventus are reportedly demanding seven million euros for the services of the Netherlands international, while the Bundesliga outfit are only prepared to sanction a loan deal.
