Carroll´s Liverpool future up in the air

16 July 2012 12:32

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a bid from Newcastle United to take Andy Carroll back to his hometown club on a season-long loan.

British media are reporting Newcastle's offer included paying part of Carroll's 80,000-pound per week wages but that Liverpool are far from impressed with the bid.

Carroll joined Liverpool from Newcastle for 35 million pounds on the final day of the 2011 January transfer window.

That price tag has been a heavy burden for the 23-year-old striker as he scored just four goals last season in 35 English Premier League games.

It is suspected that Carroll will not fit into the playing style of new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who lit up the Premier League last season in charge of a slick-passing Swansea side, prompting the bid from Newcastle.

Carroll scored 33 goals from 90 matches during his time at Newcastle and his future at Anfield remains up in the air.
