Poland´s Perquis ruled out of Czech clash

16 June 2012 01:06

Poland defender Damien Perquis has been ruled out of Saturday's crucial Euro 2012 match against Czech Republic.

The Sochaux man had been in doubt for the game after picking up a knee problem, with his availability due to be determined after training on Friday.

Perquis was forced to abandon the practice session after just 15 minutes as he complained of slight discomfort in his knee, with assistant coach Tomasz Frankowski stating that Grzegorz Wojtkowiak will deputise for the France-born defender.

The news comes as a blow to coach Franciszek Smuda, as Perquis had played the entire 90 minutes in the team's last two games.

There had also been doubts about the condition of Eugen Polanski and Dariusz Dudka, but it is believed that the Polish duo have recovered from their respective injuries and will be ready to start on Saturday.

Poland are in third place in Group A with two points, one fewer than Czech Republic.
