Copa Libertadores wrap: Santos cruise, Flamengo stumble

Santos enjoyed a comfortable win in the Copa Libertadores on Thursday but Flamengo fell victim to a stunning fight back from Olimpia.

Santos climbed to second in Group One courtesy of a 3-1 win over Peruvian side Juan Aurich in Chiclayo.

The visitors fell behind to a 15th-minute strike from Luis Tejada, but two goals in four minutes before half-time - from Jorge Fucile and Paulo Henrique Ganso - put the defending champions in control at the interval.

Borges scored a third for the Brazilian powerhouse in the 69th minute to make sure of the victory.

With three games played in Group One, Brazilian club Internacional lead on goal difference from Santos and Bolivians The Strongest, with all three teams on six points. Juan Aurich are yet to register a point.

Flamengo, meanwhile, missed the chance to move three points clear on top of Group Two when they were held to a 3-3 draw at home by Paraguayan club Olimpia.

Goals from Dario Botinelli, Ronaldinho and Luiz Antonio put Flamengo 3-0 up with 25 minutes to play.

But the visitors hit back superbly in the final 15 minutes, with strikes from Pablo Zaballo, Luis Caballero and Vladimir Marin - the latter's coming in the 89th minute - stealing a point for Olimpia.

The result sees Flamengo move one point clear on top of Group Two, with Lanus and Olimpia level on four points in second place.
