Full-time at St James' Park and Newcastle have won a crucial game here and more importantly grab a precious three points thanks to Shola Ameobi's 81st minute strike. The game wasn't a classic but Alan Pardew and his team won't mind as they snap their two game losing streak. Harry Redknapp's side were below par for most of the game and will be disappointed with their effort on Tyneside, after picking up their first win of the season last week it's one step backwards and the road to safety just got a lot harder.
90' +5
Maybe not as the R's win a free kick 25 yards from goal. Can they grab a late equaliser?
SAVED!!! Krul makes a comfortable save from Taarabt's free kick which lacked the power needed to beat the Dutchman and that should be that.
90' +4
Shola Ameobi gets yellow.
Taarabt loses possession on the edge of the area as he looked the pull the trigger. Is that it from QPR?
90' +2
CHANCE!!! Ameobi gets the ball on the edge of the area and turns and powers an effort at goal which Green saves comfortably. Can QPR get the one chance at goal they need.
90' +1
The Magpies win a free kick in the final third of the pitch and are just looking to kill the clock deep in QPR territory.
90'
Groans around St James' Park as there are to be five minutes of added time.
89'
J. Perch gets yellow.
Newcastle are edging towards a vital three points here as Taarabt is flagged offside as he looks to chase down a long ball played upfield.
87'
It's Marveaux who strikes the ball and it goes just wide of the post but Rob Green may just have got there just in time to cover his post. Very good effort from the Frenchman.
86'
C. Hill gets yellow.
85'
Ba is brought down twice in quick succession as Hill brings him down on the edge of the box. Will Ba try his luck again?

81'
Shola Ameobi has scored a goal for Newcastle United! Assist by S. Marveaux.
GOALLL!!!! Newcastle take the lead and it's Shola Ameobi whose given them the lead with an outstanding finish as collected the ball in the box, skinned his marker and curled the ball with his left-foot past Green into the bottom corner. A real classy finish from the Newcastle no.23.
79'
S. Derry enters the game and replaces A. Faurlin.
Newcastle are really trying their utmost to get ahead here and this time Simpson raids forward from right-back and fires an effort at goal but again another R's defender is there to put his body on the line and deflect it away from goal.
77'
S. Marveaux enters the game and replaces C. Tioté.
Demba Ba lifts a hopeful ball into the area but again Ryan Nelsen is there to clear the danger with a powerful header. The defender has been everywhere today, a really good performance.
74'
CHANCE!!! Another dangerous ball into the area from Obertan and several Newcastle players take a swing at the ball before it falls to Ba who makes good contact with a volley but Nelsen is there to make a good block.
72'
CHANCE!!! Ba just can't get good contact from a header from Gabriel Obertan's cross from the byline and Green collects the ball as it trickles towards the corner.
71'
Better effort from Ba this time as he strikes the wall which is a marked improvement from his first half efforts. From the resulting corner Rangers clear the danger.
70'
Another free kick for Newcastle and another chance for Demba Ba to strike. Can he hit the target this time?
68'
CHANCE!!! Another chance for Newcastle this for Shola Ameobi who can't get his header on target from another ball into the area from Anita. So close to taking the lead again are the Magpies. Will they rue these missed chances?
65'
Newcastle are starting to up the ante now as Anita whips another dangerous cross into the area which misses the head of Ba by inches and Hill clears. Seconds later Hill is there again to deflect an effort from Ba over the bar.
64'
J. Hoilett enters the game and replaces D. Cissé.
63'
C. Tioté gets yellow.

60'
G. Obertan enters the game and replaces J. Gutiérrez.
CHANCE!!!! Great chance for Papiss Cisse as he latches onto Gutierrez's pinpoint cross at the back post but somehow heads over from five yards out.
59'
Ambitious effort from James Perch as he looks to lob Rob Green from 35 yards but it's very poor and the keeper collects the ball comfortably.
57'
It's been so poor attacking wise in this second half , QPR again prove this point as Mackie loses possession in the final third when presented with a good chance to whip the ball into the area.
56'
S. Wright-Phillips enters the game and replaces Granero.
54'
Jonas Gutierrez shows he's not just a good attacking player as he spots Djibril Cisse's pass to Jamie Mackie behind him and the Argentine gets in front of the Scot and guides the ball out for a goal kick.
52'
An error from Santon allows QPR to attack as he blasts the ball off Coloccini and it falls to Cisse. Fortunately for the left-back Simpson is on hand to make a good tackle and stop the attack.
50'
The ball is like a hot potato out there as every player doesn't seem to want it, this time Ferdinand panics when Taarabt feeds him the ball under pressure and plays it straight to Anita.
48'
CHANCE!!! Taarabt skins four Newcastle players in midfield and releases Cisse who races towards goal but is held in check slightly by Coloccini. The Frenchman shoots from a tight angle and Krul is forced into making a good save at his near post.
47'
If Mackie and Cisse were on the same page QPR could be in but alas the Frenchman doesn't expect the ball as the Scot lifts it over Coloccini and Krul is on hand to collect.
46'
We're back underway at St James' Park.
45' +1
Half-time at St James' Park and it's all square in this contest in what has been a drab match of football so far. Both teams haven't looked like scoring and some of the passing on display has been very questionable. The weather maybe playing it's part but this is the Premier League so there should be no excuses. Hopefully both sides will come out better after the break.
45'
CHANCE!!!! Davide Santon comes within a whisker of giving Newcastle the lead as his shot goes just wide as he powers an effort from the edge of the area which takes a knick off Hill which is enough to take it past the post. So close!
44'
Both teams seem to be easing off, if that's possible, as we approach half-time can we get a goal before the break?
42'
A. Ferdinand gets yellow.
Djbril Cisse cracks a long distance volley at goal and Tim Krul gathers with ease. That Ladies and Gentlemen is our first effort on target of the match. NICE!!
40'
NO!!!! That free kick from Ba is worse than the last one as he smacks the ball into the Gallowgate End. The Newcastle fans aren't happy with the striker and they are fully within their rights to be. Two awful set pieces.
39'
Demba Ba has another chance to threaten from a free kick can he do anything this time?
38'
No they can't as Demba Ba blasts the free kick over the bar. That was awful!
37'
Chance for Newcastle as Mbia fouls Cisse on the edge of the area as he jumps into him while trying to win a header. Can they make anything of this?
35'
CHANCE!!!! Ba and Cisse link-up brilliantly down the middle as they play a one-two which releases the latter into the penalty area but before he can shoot Fabio races across from left-back and puts in a perfect tackle to stop the attack dead.
33'
Djibril Cisse wins a corner for QPR with a great run down the right, Faurlin takes the corner and lifts a ball to the near post which Krul easily collects under no pressure. What a waste from Rangers, it was a good corner but no player in blue and white attacked the ball.
31'
CHANCE!!! QPR lose the ball in midfield and Ba knocks a pass out wide to Gutierrez who drives into the box and fires a low pass into the middle looking for Cisse but Nelsen is there to make a crucial intervention and clear the ball.
29'
A few errors are creeping into Rangers' game at the moment as Anton Ferdinand blasts the ball into touch with several team-mates around him in space. Questionable decision there.
27'
The Newcastle fans aren't happy at referee Kevin Friend as Anita goes down under the challenge of Fabio in a promising position down the right but Friend waves play on. Anita is down and may require some treatment although it looked as though contact was minimal.
25'
Djibril Cisse latches onto to a hopeful ball down the sideline from Hill as somehow the ball stays in touch. The striker fires the ball into the middle but Coloccini is there just in the knick of time to prevent the ball squirming to Mackie.
23'
Newcastle think they're away on a counter after Cisse dispossesses Faurlin but the play is brought back for a foul. The Senegalese striker isn't happy but it was the right decision.
21'
Estaban Granero passes the ball out wide to Cisse and the ball almost stops in the turf due to the surface water. That doesn't stop the Frenchman lifting a cross into the box but his cross is just too high to find the run of Taarabt.
19'
Davide Santon does well down the left and wins a corner off Ferdinand. Anita whips in the ball but his delivery is poor and Rangers scrap the ball away as Cisse drills the ball upfield towards Krul. Lacking that final ball so far the Magpies.
17'
CLOSE!!! Newcastle counterattack and Gutierrez gets the ball on the left and runs at Ferdinand before lifting a cross towards the back post. Ba gets up higher than Hill but again the ball is just too high for him to make contact.
16'
CHANCE!!! QPR's turn to attack as Granero lifts a lovely ball over the top of the Newcastle defence and finds the run of Taarabt. The Moroccan twists and turns Coloccini and fires an effort at goal but Krul is there to make the save at his near post.
14'
CHANCE!!! Papiss Cisse gets the ball on the right in plenty of space, he looks up and fires a cross towards Ba who's free in the penalty area but his cross is far too high and goes out for a throw-in. Wasted opportunity by Cisse there.
12'
The game is being disrupted by the pitch at St James' Park. The short passing game is not possible meaning we're seeing a lot of hopeful long balls.
10'
QPR are being very vigilent against Demba Ba whenever he gets the ball around the box. The striker gets the ball from Anita but as soon as he turns Clint Hill is there and puts in a solid tackle. Tough going so far.
8'
CHANCE!!! Anita whips a dangerous corner into the penalty area, and Williamson rises highest and powers his header towards goal, but no Newcastle player can get a foot to the ball as he bounces two yards from the goalline, before Nelsen boots the ball clear.
6'
Papiss Cisse does well in the middle of the pitch as he turns and releases Danny Simpson down the right, the full-back gallops towards the byline but is stopped in his tracks by an excellent tackle from Fabio. Even game so far.
4'
Estaban Granero loses the ball upfield with a sloppy pass, Newcastle quickly break upfield but fortunately for the R's midfielder, Ferdinand dispossesses Gutierrez and clears the ball to safety.
3'
Decent opportunity early on for Newcastle to threaten from a corner but Ryan Nelsen gets up highest in the box and heads the ball clear.
2'
The pitch at St James' Park is sodden due to heavy rainfall over the past few days in the north east. It appears to be affecting both teams short passing games so far.

We're underway at St James' Park.
