SAVES GALORE! Wanyama forces a great save from De Gea with a left-footed effort and from the resulting corner, Fonte heads towards goal but the Spaniard parries it away. He's been brilliant for United today.
90' +1
Mane crosses from the right towards the back post and Valencia does just enough to prevent Tadic from scoring as he gets his body tight to the Southampton man to soften his header.
90'
The fourth official indicates that there will be a minimum of five minutes being added on in the closing stages of the second half. It's all Southampton at the moment and backs-to-the-wall stuff from United.
88'
Wanyama wins a free-kick for Southampton under a challenge from Valencia and as the ball curls in, Yoshida takes the ball away from an onrushing Davis and sees the attack die down. That was such poor judgement from the Southampton defender.
86'
G. Pellè has scored a goal for Southampton! Assist by S. Mané.
GOOOOOOOAAAALLL!! Late drama at St. Mary's as Pelle heads home from close range. Blind fails to get tight enough to Mane and the Saints winger crosses for his Italian team-mate, who buries his effort to set up a nervy final few moments for United.
84'
Van Dijk heads off the pitch with a physio either side of him and with Southampton having just made their last change of the game, the new recruit will either return to the field or the hosts will have to play the last few minutes with 10 men.
82'
Van Dijk falls to the deck appearing to have cramp and Martial helps out before the Southampton physios come onto the pitch. Great sportsmanship from the United forward.
80'
Mata collects De Gea's long ball forward and plays in Valencia, who powers forward from right-back with so much energy. With the game seemingly dead and buried, the Ecuadorian looks keen to make his mark on this game late on.
78'
José Fonte gets yellow.
Martial skips past Fonte with ease and wins a free-kick as the Saints skipper brings him down at the second time of asking. Depay steps up hoping to bury his first Premier League goal but he sends his effort wide of the mark.
Fonte brings down Martial with a late challenge just outside the penalty area and gets his name taken by the referee late on. A booking apiece for both of Southampton's centre-backs in a matter of minutes.
76'
S. Long enters the game and replaces J. Ward-Prowse.
It's all United in the closing stages. They're recycling possession well and seeing the game out professionally at this moment in time, but one Southampton goal could change everything.
And the last possible substitution of the match takes place as Ward-Prowse comes off with around 14 minutes of normal time remaining. Long enters the fray as his replacement.

Description
74'
Mane steams into the box at speed and he cuts inside past Smalling before falling to the floor. The former Red Bull Salzburg man appeals for penalty but the replay shows that it was a clear dive from the attacker and Clattenburg gets his decision spot on.
73'
V. van Dijk gets yellow.
Van Dijk picks up the first caution of the match as he pulls down Martial. The situation was out of his hands as the United striker could have set Rooney up for a fourth goal if he didn't foul him.
72'
Martial marauds forward on the breakaway for United and with Rooney up ahead of him, the Frenchman eyes the pass but Van Dijk pulls him to the floor for a free-kick. A classic tactical foul which prevents the visitors from making it four.
70'
The tie has slowly by slowly slipped through Southampton's grasp. From an offside United goal to a Yoshida mistake, they've dropped off significantly since De Gea made an unreal save to deny Fonte and they didn't get anywhere near the Red Devils for the third.
69'
P. McNair enters the game and replaces M. Rojo.
Van Gaal makes his final change with roughly 20 minutes of normal time left to play. McNair comes on for Rojo as Blind switches to left-back and Smalling remains the only United defender to start the match and stay in the same position now.
68'
Mata has scored a goal for Manchester United!
GOOOOOAAAALLL!! It's 3-1 to United! Depay beats Fonte inside the box and rattles the post with a right-footed shot but the ball rebounds out to Mata, who curls home to surely wrap up the points for the visitors.
66'
Maybe it's tired legs but Southampton are playing into United's hands at the moment. There is too much space for Van Gaal's men to move into and they've been in cruise control in the last few minutes.
64'
CLOSE! It's almost a mirror image of Yoshida and Martial all over again as Martina plays a risky back pass which almost sells Stekelenburg short and puts Depay through on goal, but the Southampton goalkeeper just about clears.
62'
Although they're now in front, United are still moving the ball quicker than they did in the second half rather than being patient and slowing the match down. Southampton are yards away from every pass.
60'
B. Schweinsteiger enters the game and replaces M. Carrick.
You can watch that save over and over again and it won't get old. Fonte does everything right with his header but De Gea is a magnificent goalkeeper. Getting him to sign a new deal was a masterstroke from the Red Devils.
Van Gaal withdraws Carrick and sends on Schweinsteiger in a similar swap in midfield. Both can control games with their passing range but the German has a bit more left in the legs to put pressure on the likes of Mane as Southampton chase the game.
58'
WHAT A SAVE!! Tadic bends in a lovely corner which Fonte powers towards goal and De Gea throws out an arm to divert the ball away from goal from point-blank range. Unbelievable goalkeeping.
56'
S. Davis enters the game and replaces Oriol Romeu.
Southampton have been forced to open up now since Martial grabbed his second of the game. They're taking plenty of risks in the final third and pushing more numbers forward liked they did in the first 20 minutes.
Southampton make their second change of the game as Romeu comes off for Davis. The latter picks his passes well and Koeman has brought him on in search of more guile to draw them level.
54'
Ward-Prowse looks to cause United all sorts of problems with his wicked delivery once more as he curls a high free-kick towards the back stick, but De Gea grasps comfortably before Wanyama got there.
52'
Yet again it was calmness personified from Martial. It's not just shades of last season in the way Southampton are behind despite playing well, but Martial has the composure in front of goal which they've lacked since Van Persie's debut campaign in red in 2012/13.
50'
A. Martial has scored a goal for Manchester United!
GOOOOOOOAAAAALLL!! Martial profits from a Southampton mistake to make it 2-1 to United! Yoshida plays a poor back pass towards Fonte which the United forward punishes as he slides the ball past Stekelenburg and into the far corner.
48'
Mane chests down a ball and gets fouled by Rojo in the middle of the park for the first free-kick of the second half. Considering the way the Southampton man bossed the play numerous times in the first half, United will have been told to get tighter to him by Van Gaal at the break.
46'
A. Valencia enters the game and replaces M. Darmian.
C. Martina enters the game and replaces M. Targett.
Welcome back! Manchester United get us underway for the second half here on the south coast, with both sides making personnel changes during the break. Cuco Martina comes on for Matt Targett, while Antonio Valencia replaces Matteo Darmian.
Van Gaal makes his first roll of the dice as he replaces Darmian with Valencia in the right-back position. It's understood that the move is tactical and the former didn't pick up an injury in the first half.
Koeman makes his first substitution of the game as Targett, as expected, comes off for the second half. He picked up a knock when chasing Martial before the interval and Martina has entered the field as his replacement.
45'
Targett comes back on to the pitch and the officials have indicated that just one minute will be added on in the first half. Soares gets up off the bench and starts warming up in case the Southampton left-back can't carry on after the break.
44'
The referee blows his whistle for a stoppage in play not long before the half-time break as Targett hits the deck when trying to catch Martial down the flank. The replay shows that he appears to have rolled his ankle slightly.
42'
ALMOST 2-1 UNITED! Depay plays a quick corner to Mata and the Spaniard fires a low cross which Schneiderlin meets but he guides his effort just past the post, with Stekelenburg rooted to his spot. Southampton fell asleep there.
40'
CLOSE! Depay makes a nuisance of himself as he tussles with a couple of Southampton players just outside the box. The ball flies up off Wanyama with Martial lurking but Van Dijk clears for a corner. Good last-ditch defending from him.
38'
The Saints have played well in the first half and perhaps don't deserve to be level on the scoreboard heading towards the interval, but it was magnificent from Martial. His clever turn fools Van Dijk and the finish was terrific.
36'
The replay shows that Mata actually comes from an offside position to get involved in the build-up to United's equaliser which the official on that side of the pitch fails to spot. Hammer blow for the Saints.
34'
A. Martial has scored a goal for Manchester United!
GOOOOOOAAAAALL!! It's 1-1 and it's that man Martial again. Yoshida prevents Mata from getting a shot away inside the box with a great recovery tackle but the ball falls to the young French striker, who shows excellent composure as he drives home from inside the box.
33'
Rojo finds a bit of space down the left-hand side and sends in a cross towards Rooney but Romeu drops deep into his own half and clears the danger in the nick of time.
31'
Pelle is in total control at the moment and United are struggling to get to grips with him in truth. He seems to be first to every ball so far today and United have been so slow off the mark.
30'
Pelle takes down a Stekelenburg goal-kick brilliantly and as he holds up play waiting for runners either side of him, Schneiderlin begins to start tugging away at his shirt but the referee again decides not to hand Southampton a free-kick.
28'
There are further appeals involving Tadic as the Serbian gets caught late in the middle of the park by Mata. The home support inside St. Mary's cries for the referee to book the former Chelsea man but Clattenburg isn't interested.
26'
NO PENALTY! Mane surges down the right-hand side unmarked and his cross ends up being deflected to an onrushing Tadic, who falls over in the box under pressure from Rojo but the referee waves away his appeals for a spot-kick.
24'
Schneiderlin runs through the middle of the pitch but he overcooks his touch, inviting Wanyama on to him. The United midfielder dives in along with his former Saints team-mate as the latter gets the better of it.
22'
Ward-Prowse again opts against running at Rojo and whips in a peach of a cross towards the penalty area, which Pelle rises higher than Blind to but he guides his header over the crossbar.
20'
The Saints have stood firm since taking the lead through Pelle. United have had the lion's share of possession but they're finding it hard to get into spaces to hurt Southampton, who are compact in their structure without the ball.
18'
Rooney fails to bring down Rojo's throw-in and allows Wanyama to nick in and snuff out the danger. As the big Kenyan does so, the United captain brings him down for a soft Southampton free-kick.
16'
De Gea rushes off his line and screams at the defenders in front of him as Pelle comes inches away from making it 2-0 to Southampton. They were all at sea for that Southampton attack.
15'
OFF THE POST! Mane presses Smalling brilliantly and forces the United defender to clear. The ball finds its way to Romeu and the Spaniard feeds in Pelle, who strikes the outside of the post from close range. Big let-off for the visitors.
14'
Ward-Prowse's cross which brought about the goal was excellent but Mane's influence was just as vital, too. He used his quick feet to find space between Carrick and Schneiderlin and set up the pass out wide to the Southampton academy graduate fantastically well.
13'
G. Pellè has scored a goal for Southampton!
GOOOOOOOOAAALLLLL!! It's 1-0 to Southampton! Mane latches onto Ward-Prowse's sensational cross from the right and forces a great save from De Gea, but the spillage falls to Pelle and the Italian taps home to put the hosts in front.
12'
Tadic looks dangerous again as he engineers half a yard for himself down the left wing and sends in a delightful cross which almost finds Ward-Prowse at the back post, but Rojo diverts it out for a corner.
10'
CLOSE! Pelle gets away with a cheeky nudge in the back on Blind and storms forward down the flank before his cross towards the back post is kept alive by Tadic, who just fires wide of De Gea in the United goal.
9'
Blind plays a lovely threaded through ball forward to Martial, who holds it up nicely up against Fonte but his pass through to Depay working the channel was poor as Yoshida recovers possession for the hosts.
7'
Targett plays a lofted pass forward from the back towards Tadic down the left-hand side but as the former FC Twente man tries to get the ball under control, Darmian brings him down for a Southampton free-kick.
5'
It's been a rather scrappy opening five minutes here at St. Mary's with both sides still a little bit pedestrian and unable to string together a succession of passes at the moment.
3'
Rojo, filling in for the injured Luke Shaw at left-back, plays a ball forward to Martial and the Frenchman holds the ball up well but his pass towards Rooney flies too far beyond the United skipper.

Southampton get us underway here inside a noisy St. Mary's. The man in charge of the cards for today's affair is Mark Clattenburg.
Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE text commentary of today's Premier League clash between Southampton and Manchester United from St. Mary's. I'm Matthew Judge and I will be your host for the match, which kicks off in 30 minutes.
MANCHESTER UNITED substitutes: Romero, Young, Herrera, Valencia, Fellaini, Schweinsteiger, McNair.
In this fixture last season, Robin van Persie scored a brace as Manchester United overcame a superb Southampton in a 2-1 victory. Graziano Pelle was on the scoresheet for the Saints that day and they went on to get revenge by winning the reverse match at Old Trafford in January this year.
It's the battle of the Dutch on the south coast as old rivals Ronald Koeman and Louis van Gaal lock horns. The two managers are leading their sides into today's game in good spirits, with Southampton unbeaten in their last three Premier League matches while Manchester United are looking to build on last weekend's 3-1 win over bitter foes Liverpool.
TEAM NEWS: Koeman has made three changes to the Southampton side which started their 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion last weekend. Maya Yoshida, Oriol Romeu and Sadio Mane all coming into the first eleven for the trip to St. Mary's.
TEAM NEWS: Van Gaal has made four alterations to the Manchester United side which started their 2-1 loss to PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday. Marcos Rojo, Michael Carrick, Morgan Schneiderlin and Wayne Rooney are all given the chance to shine from the get-go.
Both sets of players are stripped and raring to go as they leave the tunnel and head onto the pitch here at St. Mary's. The sun is shining and we are just moments away from seeing the action start on the south coast.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Rojo; Carrick, Schneiderlin; Mata, Rooney (c), Depay; Martial.
HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
Both sets of players head towards the tunnel with honours even at St. Mary's. Pelle put Southampton ahead with a close-range tap-in before Martial restored parity 21 minutes later for his second league goal in as many games.
Southampton played well for large spells in the first half, with their front four all thriving in particular, and they were unlucky to concede their one-goal advantage as Mata was offside in the build-up to Martial's leveller.
But, take nothing away from Martial, it was a marvellous finish. He showed maturity beyond his years by remaining calm inside the penalty area as he spun Van Dijk around and slotted the ball coolly into the back of the net.
FULL-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 2-3 MANCHESTER UNITED
Martial bags his first Premier League brace as Manchester United come out on top in a five-goal encounter at St. Mary's. Mata scored the all important winner for the Red Devils with Pelle finding the net twice for Southampton.
It was a great start for Southampton, with Pelle hitting the post after opening up the scoring just before, and United's opener through Martial had a hint of controversy after Mata got involved in the build up from an offside position.
But the Red Devils took control after Martial's first and the former Monaco man punished Yoshida's poor back pass to make it 2-1. Mata followed up with a third before Pelle headed home to give the visitors some late jitters towards the end.
Van Gaal's charges move up to second in the league table behind rivals Manchester City on 13 points, while Southampton drop to 16th and still have just one win from their opening six top-flight games.
Next up for United is a home clash against early strugglers Sunderland at Old Trafford whereas Southampton face Swansea City on home soil on the same weekend.
And that's all from me, Matthew Judge, and it has been a great pleasure talking you through all of today's action at St. Mary's. We hope you can join us again very soon. Take care!
