GOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL FOR SOUTHAMPTON! The cherry on top for the visitors! Ward-Prowse gets involved in the goalscoring action off the bench as he slots home with a nice finish after some good build-up from Davis, but once again some hopeless defending from the Hammers! Three-nil.
90' +1
Four minutes of added time have been signalled by the referee here which gives West Ham a very slight ray of hope, but if anything it looks like Southampton may be the team to grab the last goal of the match at the London Stadium this afternoon.
89'
D. Payet gets yellow.
C. Martina enters the game and replaces Cédric Soares.
Payet fails to get a decision from the referee after a challenge and then desperately puts his head to the grass in frustration. He then goes to the official to give him an earful, which earns him a yellow card, so an altogether poor afternoon for the Frenchman in the end.
88'
Last change from Southampton as Martina comes off the bench for a birthday appearance to replace Cedric.
86'
SAVE FROM ADRIAN! With West Ham attacking, Southampton are able to burst out of defence on the counter-attack. Ward-Prowse eventually receives possession inside the box and attempts to drill a strike high into the top corner, but the Spanish goalkeeper is equal to it this time and makes the block to the left-hand side.
84'
The last remainder of this game promises to be attack versus defence with West Ham continually probing for a consolation goal and a highly unlikely equaliser. Again, as mentioned previously though, all the pressure isn't exactly making Southampton weather some kind of storm from the hosts.
82'
E. Fernandes enters the game and replaces M. Noble.
The Hammers are in danger of losing their discipline here and Reid is the latest guilty party as he needlessly comes through the back of Long midway through the West Ham half. Southampton get the free-kick which completely takes the pressure off of tehir defence.
Edimilson Fernandes replaces Mark Noble for West Ham.
81'
W. Reid gets yellow.
80'
J. Ward-Prowse enters the game and replaces D. Tadić.
Another change from Puel and it is a slightly defensive one as James Ward-Prowse dashes on to the pitch to replace in the impressive Dusan Tadic.
78'
Twelve minutes of normal time remaining at the London Stadium and West Ham are running out of it to try claim something, anything out of this clash. Some of the Hammers fans are already attempting to beat the traffic by leaving early, which does seem a bit premature to be fair!
Minute
Description
76'
CLEARED OFF THE LINE BY VAN DIJK! Payet pops up at the back post and reverses possession back into the danger area with a lovely cushioned touch. Feghouli collects inside the crowded box and poked an attempt low towards the bottom corner, but the former Celtic defender is positioned perfectly to make the block!
74'
S. Long enters the game and replaces C. Austin.
Opening substitution of the match from Claude Puel and it is sees an alteration up top for the Saints. Entering the action is Shane Long and he will replace the opening goalscorer, Charlie Austin.
72'
Arbeloa gets yellow.
A penalty shout which is waved away by the referee catalyses plenty of protests from the West Ham players, and as such one takes it a little too far. Arbeloa was right up in the face of the official, and the rules this season state that that is a booking offence.
71'
A. Fletcher enters the game and replaces H. Nordtveit.
Another substitution from Bilic now and it sees former Manchester United youngster, Ashley Fletcher, enter the action to replace Havard Nordtveit. A striker on for a defender then, so the Croatian boss is really going for this now!
70'
Southampton's passing game, which was lacking a threat in the first half, is serving them perfectly now as there is no need to try and pick out game-changing balls in the final third due to their healthy two-goal lead. It is now up to West Ham to try and press for a potential consolation, but this will open up space for the Saints on the counter.
68'
V. van Dijk gets yellow.
Confirmation of the booking for Van Dijk.
67'
The referee plays a good advantage here as Van Dijk completely takes out Feghouli on the right wing just as Kouyate moves possession forward. As the attack comes to nothing for the Hammers, play is brought back and the Dutchman is issued with a booking, while West Ham get the free-kick in a useful position for Payet.
65'
JUST OVER FROM DAVIS! Southampton continue to press ahead for more goals and it is Redmond who takes the game to the opposition this time with a penetrating run to the byline. The former Norwich winger shows composure to pick out the Irishman, but the latter is just leaning back slightly which means the resulting attempt on goal is driven a yard north of the crossbar.
63'
Well, where do West Ham and Slaven Bilic go from here, as they don't appear to have the firepower to get back into this with just 30 minutes to go. The Hammers need the likes of Zaza, and Payet in particular, to stand up and be counted!
62'
D. Tadić has scored a goal for Southampton! Assist by C. Austin.
61'
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL FOR SOUTHAMPTON FROM NOWHERE! Kouyate languishes in possession far too long and the Saints pounce with Austin eventually receiving the ball on the right. The opening goalscorer then picks out Tadic inside, who coolly goes through to round Adrian before tucking into the empty net. An awful West Ham offside trap there! Two-nil!
Austin turns provider this time as he cleverly clips possession inside for Tadic to score.
59'
S. Zaza gets yellow.
Zaza is the latest player to see yellow and it is a cracking bit of refereeing as Jon Moss penalises the Italian for diving inside the area trying to win a penalty.
58'
A decent period of sustained possession from West Ham at the moment as they pin Southampton back into their own penalty area. Noble in particular is becoming a lot more prominent in those central areas, but Southampton aren't looking too perturbed in their attempts to defend attacks from the Hammers.
56'
These West Ham fans can be fairly unforgiving when they don't particularly like what they are witnessing, so as long as time goes on with Southampton still a goal to the good, there will be murmurs and musings of frustration getting increasingly louder from the stands.
55'
M. Noble gets yellow.
54'
Second booking of the match now and it is probably a deserved one for Noble, who goes in a little late on Hojbjerg in the middle of the park. Nothing too sinister in the challenge from the West Ham captain, but he did go in with his studs raised off the ground a bit.
52'
VITAL SAVE FROM ADRIAN! A cracking bit of play from Southampton as Cedric bulldozes his way down the right flank before cutting inside the box dangerously and picking out Tadic 12 yards out. The Saints winger attempts to open up his boot to guide a strike to the left corner, but doesn't catch it right which allows the Spaniard to make the important stop! Still 1-0.
50'
Bertrand stands over a free-kick around 35 yards out down the left wing and steps up to send a teasing delivery to the edge of the six-yard box. It just evades Van Dijk with the ball eventually finding Fonte at the back post, who attempt to loop an attempted header over Adrian, but the Hammers goalkeeper retreats to claim out of the air.
48'
There is certainly an element of nerves surrounding West Ham so far today, which is understandable considering their recent abject form. Even the League Cup victory during the week didn't exactly inspire confidence, as they only managed to put one past League Two outfit, Accrington Stanley.
46'
S. Féghouli enters the game and replaces M. Lanzini.
Bilic makes a change at the break and it sees Lanzini leave the action to be replaced by former Valencia man, Sofiane Feghouli.
We are back under way at the London Stadium!
44'
Southampton are looking confident in their play now, with the possession in the middle of the park a lot for meaningful and purposeful. West Ham, meanwhile, look to be in for another long afternoon in the London Stadium if they can't get their act together in an attacking sense fairly quickly. They have been fairly toothless.
42'
Austin has cut a fairly frustrated figure for the majority of this first half, with his team-mates being scalded for not getting possession up top quick enough. You can see his point, as that finish comes from someone with a definite predatory instinct in and around the penalty area - he just needs the service!
40'
C. Austin has scored a goal for Southampton! Assist by R. Bertrand.
Superb work from Bertrard to earn the assist for the opener.
GOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLL FOR SOUTHAMPTON! The deadlock is broken! Bertrand makes a superb overlapping run in behind the West Ham defence on the left flank and then reverses a perfect cross into the area for Austin, who scuffs a left-footed finish JUST past Adrian into the bottom corner! A great finish considering the pace on the ball. One-nil.
37'
Austin picks up possession with his back to goal on the halfway line and attempts to link up the play with a pass inside, but Reid is relentless in his pursuit of the Saints striker whom he forces all the way back to near the corner flag. Austin, cleverly, earns a foul out of the defender, though, to take the pressure off.
35'
Payet whips in a wicked cross to the front post from a corner-kick and Zaza gets above his marker to send a clever flick-on to the back post. It is begging to be headed home into the empty net but Antonio JUST can't make up the ground in time to turn an attempt on target!
33'
Zaza comes deep to flick the ball into the right channel for Kouyate, who takes advantage with a bursting run towards the byline. He only has Antonio to aim at, and attempts a low cross into the danger area for West Ham's top scorer this season, but Van Dijk is positioned superbly to make the vital interception.
31'
West Ham, meanwhile, need to try and get possession to Payet but the former Marseille midfielder has spent too much of his time hugging the touchline on the left wing. It appears as if he and Lanzini are now swapping positions at will, which will allow the former to collect the ball in more dangerous areas.
29'
Southampton really could be doing with someone to pop up in the no.10 position to try and link the play between midfield and attack. Davis and Romeu are just exchanging short passes without too much forward-thinking, while Hojbjerg is being swallowed up in the crowds, unable to turn and pick out incisive balls.
27'
We are just beyond the midway point of the first half now and the deadlock remains between West Ham and Southampton at 0-0. A good start to the match from both sides, but the tempo has just fizzled out of the contest somewhat which is meaning not many chances are being created.
25'
As mentioned previously, Zaza is relishing the physical battle up against he Southampton defence and this time manages to earn a free-kick after backing in to Van Dijk during an aerial altercation. Payet is the man tasked with the set-piece, naturally, but the delivery from the Frenchman is swiftly cleared with a commanding header from Fonte.
23'
Arbeloa finds himself in an advanced position once again and goes for the neat one-two with Lanzini in a tight area. There is a miscommunication between the West Ham duo, though, which sees Southampton win possession back, however it is gifted straight back to the home side after a slack pass from Cedric.
21'
Southampton win the ball back inside the centre circle through Davis, with the Northern Island international subsequently moving the play further forward. Austin makes a superb diagonal run round the corner of the West Ham defence, but it goes unnoticed from his team-mate, much to the frustration of the former Queens Park Rangers striker.
19'
There is an interesting battle developing between Van Dijk and Zaza up top for West Ham, with both players clearly enjoying the more physical part of the game. The Dutchman probably has the better of the contest so far, but that is only because the passes up to the Hammers striker have been lofted without much penetration in behind.
17'
Southampton continue to enjoy plenty of possession out there but the movement up top hasn't exactly been sparkling. Austin is certainly a better goalscorer than the man he replaces today, Shane Long, but perhaps doesn't provide as much running into the channels in order to ruffle the feathers of the opposition defence. Redmond and Tadic are needing to provide a little more service to ther centre-forward, though.
15'
Another penalty shout for West Ham, with this one being a much better appeal that the previous. Zaza is involved in the action positively again and uses his physicality to barge around the box looking to control the ball, only to be bundled to the floor by a combination of Cedric and Fone, but the referee quickly waves play on again. Definitely sees those ones given!
13'
A really nice tempo to the match even in these early stages with both sides looking up for the contest. Southampton, perhaps expectedly, are dominating possession with the likes of Davis and Romeu flexing their muscles, but there hasn't been too much penetration in behind as of yet, with Austin not having witnessed much action up top.
11'
Arbeloa, who is making his first league start for West Ham today after signing on a free transfer from Real Madrid, goes on a marauding run down the left wing and manages to dig out a teasing cross to the back post, but Davis is on hand to vigilantly put behind for a corner. Even at his advancing years, the Spaniard will still provide width on either the left or right.
9'
Oriol Romeu gets yellow.
We are only nine minutes into the proceedings at the London Stadium but we have already seen the first yellow card of the afternoon. The guilty party is Romeu, who needlessly scythes down Lanzini down the left-hand side after a decent bit of trickery from the Hammers attacker.
7'
Bertrand, who will get up and down that left-hand side all day long, gets in behind the opposition defence with a penetrating run before picking out an intelligent cross to Hojbjerg around 25 yards out. The former Bayern Munich youngster opts against hitting it first time, which allows the West Ham defence to regroup and make the vital block. Great move from the Saints there, but no pay-off in the end.
5'
We get our first glimpse of Lanzini in the match as the Argentine pops up in a really useful areas inside the Southampton penalty area. He jinks inside and falls to his knees after an apparent clip from Cedric, but the protests are fairly half-hearted and the referee is quick to wave play on.
3'
Ogbonna receives the ball to feet at the back for West Ham and whilst under plenty of pressure from Redmond, manages to pick out a cracking lofted pass over the top of the Saints defence for Zaza. The former Juventus striker takes in with an assured chested touch before lashing a strike at goal, but it goes a few yards wide and never poses a threat to Forster.

.We are under way in London! Will it be West Ham or Southampton to come out on top this afternoon?
Today's fixture has suddenly became a lot more important that previously thought at the start of the season, as it features two outfits who are in real need of points in order to kick-start their season. After five games, West Ham are currently languishing in the relegation zone in 18th after just one win, while Southampton are in 14th after the one victory themselves, although having managed to accumulate a couple more points due to two draws.
Good afternoon football fans! Welcome to LIVE coverage of the English Premier League encounter between West Ham and Southampton from the London Stadium.
Defensively, West Ham have been atrocious so far this campaign and have shipped 13 goals in their five matches. A small bit of relief came during the week when they progressed in the League Cup after dispatching of Accrington Stanley, but this was preceded by a damaging 4-2 loss away at West Brom at the Hawthorns and a 4-2 defeat at home to Watford. Their only win of the season so far came against Bournemouth in the middle of August.
TEAM NEWS...
The last clash between West Ham and Southampton took place in February of this year, once again in the Premier League. On that occasion at St. Mary's, Ronald Koeman's outfit at the time ran out narrow 1-0 winners thanks to a solitary strike from Maya Yoshida. The Saints have won just one of their last five league visits to face the Hammers with both teams scoring in each match, though.
The Saints, meanwhile, have endured a hot and cold season far with Claude Puel seemingly still attempting to adapt the club to the losses of key players, Victor Wanyama, Sadio Mane, and Graziano Pelle in the summer. Southampton have, however, enjoyed a very promising last 10 days as they have secured an opening Europa League win, their first win in the league, and progression in the League Cup.
West Ham (4-2-3-1): Adrian; Nordtveit, Reid, Ogbonna, Arbeloa; Noble, Kouyate; Antonio, Lanzini, Payet; Zaza.
West Ham subs: Randolph, Byram, Oxford, Obiang, Fernandes, Feghouli, Fletcher.
Ten minutes to kick-off and the atmosphere is building in the London Stadium!
Half-time in this Premier League clash. The London Stadium hasn't been lit up by the action on show so far, with both sides struggling to create chances for the most part, but Southampton did create one meaningful opportunity which was tucked away by Charlie Austin, meaning the Saints go into the break 1-0 up over West Ham. Slaven Bilic has some inspiring to do! Second period to come.
Full-time at the London Stadium. It is another grim home fixture for West Ham as they go down 3-0 at home to Southampton, who controlled proceedings in the second period. The goalscorers on the day for the Saints were Charlie Austin, Dusan Tadic, and James Ward-Prowse, but they were given a massive helping hand by a truly hapless Hammers defence, which will leave Slaven Bilic worried for his job going forward. Thanks for joining us, see you next time!
