That was great work by Herrera. The Spaniard has performed brilliantly in the middle of the pitch, where he has been part of a well-balanced midfield duo with Carrick.
GOAL! Ibrahimovic wraps up the win! Schweinsteiger sets up Herrera nicely over on the left-hand side of the West Ham penalty area and the Spaniard quickly takes on Ogbonna before cutting the ball back to Ibrahimovic, who, in a pocket of space in front of goal, is easily able to beat Adrian with one of the last kicks of the game.

77'
Rooney breaks into the left-hand side of the West Ham box after linking up well with Martial, but as soon as he fires a low cross into the middle of the penalty area, the linesman's flag is rightly raised for offside.

S. Zaza enters the game and replaces D. Payet.
West Ham have made their final alteration of the night, with Simone Zaza coming on to replace Payet.
75'
Ouch! Rooney was caught in the face by a high boot from Reid in the build-up to Manchester United's last chance on goal and has received a nasty cut to the cheek. The captain doesn't seem at all happy with the defender as he makes his way off the pitch to get patched up.
74'
Mkhitaryan chips a lovely lofted pass over to Martial, who brings the ball down well on the left-hand side of the West Ham penalty area before trying to tee up Ibrahimovic. The striker is in a great position at the far post but is unable to meet the ball thanks to good defending by Masuaku.

70'

68'

66'
Mkhitaryan is brought crashing to the ground by Angelo Ogbonna, resulting in a free-kick for Manchester United in the middle of the pitch. It's taken quickly and sent over to the right wing, but West Ham defend it well and comfortably deal with the danger.
64'
Obiang is easily muscled off the ball by Rooney and allows Manchester United to break forward quickly. He sends the ball out to Mkhitaryan, who then fires a low pass back to the captain, but his first touch is poor and sends it bouncing into the hands of Adrian.
62'

Ibrahimovic and Valencia linked up wonderfully to set up Martial for the Frenchman's second goal of the game, but Masuaku fell asleep and let Valencia skip past him far too easily.
GOAL! Manchester United have increased their lead! Ibrahimovic picks up the ball in the middle of the pitch and immediately sets up Valencia with an excellent pass into the right-hand side of the West Ham penalty area. The Ecuadorian skips past Masuaku before sending a first-time cross to Martial, who then easily taps the ball into the back of the net from close range.

58'
M. Lanzini enters the game and replaces M. Antonio.
There are now more problems for Slaven Bilic to deal with, as Antonio is the latest West Ham player to go down injured. Like Cresswell, the wing-back seems to have pulled a muscle and is eventually forced to make way for Manuel Lanzini.
56'
Great save by Adrian! Ibrahimovic and Rooney link up well just outside of the West Ham penalty area before the latter tees up Martial with a lovely through-ball, but the Frenchman's thumping shot is well saved by Adrian in the middle of the goal.
54'
Almost a costly mistake by Phil Jones! Masuaku cuts inside from the left wing before firing a low cross into the middle of the Manchester United penalty area. W. Rooney gets yellow.
There's a coming together between Fernandes and Rooney that the Manchester United captain isn't at all happy with, and his angry protestations towards the referee results in him receiving a yellow card for dissent.
52'
Manchester United put good pressure on the West Ham back line before Herrera is fouled by Fernandes and wins the hosts a free-kick. It's sent in deep by Rooney and finds Ibrahimovic at the far post, but the striker is unable to tee up a teammate and instead chests the ball down to Obiang.
50'
Feghouli fires the ball down the right wing and gives Antonio something to chase, but Rojo darts out of the Manchester United penalty area and across the pitch to deal with the danger with a well-timed sliding tackle near to the corner flag.
48'
A. Martial has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by H. Mkhitaryan.
Mkhitaryan did well to pick out Martial with a well-weighted pass, but, once again, West Ham let themselves down with poor defending. The Armenian was left in far too much space and Payet was caught being far too clever in a dangerous area of the pitch.
GOAL! Manchester United are back in front! A poor pass from Payet gifts possession back to the hosts, who quickly break forward. Mkhitaryan, who is completely unmarked on the right-hand side of the West Ham box, cuts inside and heads into the penalty area before teeing up Martial, who then blasts a side-footed, first-time shot past Adrian and into the top left-hand corner of the net.

45'
A. Masuaku enters the game and replaces A. Cresswell.

Cresswell still doesn't seem to be moving well and is eventually replaced by Arthur Masuaku, who comes on to make his first appearance in over two months.
44'
Cresswell gets back to his feet after a few moments on the floor and the game gets underway once again. The ball pinballs around the middle of the pitch before Rooney tries to tee up Martial over on the flank, but Kouyate is there to cut out the danger.
43'
Cresswell looks to be struggling after going down off the ball, and it seems as if his day might already be done. The wing-back really doesn't look comfortable and Slaven Bilic looks justifiably concerned.
41'

A. Valencia gets yellow.
Cresswell receives the ball midway inside the Manchester United half of the pitch over on the left wing and is immediately clattered into by Valencia, resulting in a free-kick for West Ham and a yellow card for the Ecuadorian. 37'
Rooney darts towards the West Ham box before chipping a deft pass into the path of Martial, who has to settle for a corner after being closed down well by Adrian. The resulting set-piece is curled into a dangerous position in front of goal but fails to trouble the visitors, who are easily able to deal with the danger.
35'
A. Fletcher has scored a goal for West Ham United!
GOAL! West Ham have equalised! Payet cuts inside from the left wing and unleashes a low shot that should be easily dealt with by De Gea. It isn't, however, as the goalkeeper spills the ball straight into the path of Fletcher, who then easily taps the ball into the back of the net to equalise against his old club with his first ever West Ham goal.
33'
West Ham push forward as they try to carve out their first chance on goal, but, once again, they're unable to find much joy. Fletcher and Obiang do well in the middle of the pitch before the latter sets up Antonio, but the wing-back's first touch is poor and gifts possession to Shaw.
31'
Martial goes close! A poor pass from Antonio is sent straight to Ibrahimovic and allows the striker to fly forward on a quick counter-attack. He reaches the edge of the penalty area before shooting, but his low strike is well blocked by Reid. The ball rolls out to Mkhitaryan, however, who quickly moves it on to Martial, but the Frenchman is unable to beat Adrian with his low shot from the left-hand side of the box.
29'
Manchester United keep putting West Ham under plenty of pressure before Rooney swings a dangerous cross towards the near post, but Martial ends up losing out to Kouyate at the last moment and is unable to test Adrian with a close-range header.
27'
Valencia makes his way down the right wing and takes on Cresswell before firing a low cross into the heart of the penalty area. It finds Mkhitaryan, whose first touch is slightly heavy and forces him into knocking it back to Michael Carrick, but the midfielder decides to pass instead of shooting and ends up gifting possession back to his former club.
25'
West Ham patiently move the ball around midway inside the Manchester United half of the pitch as they try to find a way past the home side. Antonio is eventually picked out over on the right wing and quickly tries to take on Shaw, but the full-back comes out on top and successfully shepherds the ball out for a goal-kick.
23'
Vital block by Reid! Antonio initially does well to hold up Martial deep down the left flank but is caught sleeping on the ball and cheaply gives away possession. Ibrahimovic quickly picks it up and sends a pass back to Mkhitaryan, who then spins and tees up Herrera, but the Spaniard's thumping shot ends up flying straight on to the head of Reid inside the West Ham penalty area.
22'
Fernandes snatches the ball back near the halfway line and immediately tries to slot a clever through-ball into the path of Feghouli, but David De Gea reads the danger well and makes sure that he's there to collect the ball ahead of the Algerian.
20'
Rooney picks up the ball in a good position deep down the left wing and quickly tries to pick out Ibrahimovic with a swinging cross over to the far post, but Aaron Cresswell is there to put off the Swedish striker to stop him from reaching the ball.
18'
Antonio, who has arguably been West Ham's most dangerous player thus far, cuts inside from the right flank before teeing up Feghouli, who is in acres of space on the edge of the penalty area, but his run forward is slightly mistimed and the linesman's flag is quickly raised as soon as he makes contact with the ball.
17'
Edimilson Fernandes is fouled by Valencia over on the left wing and West Ham are awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position. It's curled into the penalty area by Payet and causes a few problems for the home side before they break away on yet another counter-attack, but this time Martial ends up firing a 20-yard over the top of the crossbar.
16'
Rooney goes close! The Manchester United captain steps up and unleashes a great curling strike, but Adrian is there to tip it round the far post and out for another corner.
15'
Pedro Obiang gets yellow.
West Ham win themselves a corner from an Antonio cross, but it's poorly hit and easily dealt with by the home side. Valencia then darts forward on a great run before setting up Martial, who cuts inside from the left wing only to be fouled by a poor challenge from Obiang right on the edge of the West Ham box.
14'
Sofiane Feghouli defends well on the edge of the West Ham penalty area before flying forward on a wonderful run. He sprints into the Manchester United half of the pitch before trying to link up with Ashley Fletcher, who is the only other man in white up with him, but he spends far too long on the ball and is eventually displaced by Marcos Rojo.
13'
After dealing with the danger, Manchester United burst forward on a determined attacking move of their own. Ibrahimovic charges down the right wing and tries to pick out Martial only to see his low cross put behind by Reid. The set-piece fails to result in a chance on goal, however, and West Ham deal with the danger well.
12'
Michail Antonio darts down the right flank on a great run as he tries to set up West Ham's first chance of the evening. He skips past Ander Herrera and then attempts to pick out Dimitri Payet with a deep cross to the far post, but it's slightly overhit and is easily dealt with by Antonio Valencia.
10'
The set-piece is taken quickly and sent short to Luke Shaw, who then whips a low cross into the middle of the penalty area, where it finds Winston Reid. The defender tries to clear the danger only to scoop the ball up until the air, but, luckily for him, it ends up falling straight into the hands of Adrian.
9'
A half-hearted West Ham attack comes to an end and Martial bursts down the left wing on a marauding run forward. He does well to beat two players before taking on Pedro Obiang, but the Spaniard ends up fouling the Frenchman and gives away a free-kick.
8'
It's been a really tough start to the game for West Ham, who have struggled to get out of their own half of the pitch and don't look at all comfortable at the back. Their defence have been carved open on three occasions already, with Rooney and Ibrahimovic looking particularly hungry.
6'
Another great chance for Ibrahimovic! Once again, Rooney picks up the ball in a pocket of space before setting up Ibrahimovic with a clever pass forward. The striker weaves past Cheikhou Kouyate before taking on Adrian, but the goalkeeper gets down well to save the low shot before also dealing with the follow-up effort.
4'
The hosts quickly win the ball back from West Ham and immediately hit their opponents on another determined attacking move. Anthony Martial gets himself into a good position over on the left-hand side of the box before chipping a cross over to Ibrahimovic, but the latter is unable to tee up a teammate with his downward header.
3'
It initially looked as if Ibrahimovic was in serious trouble after being caught by the outstretched foot of Adrian as he beat the West Ham goalkeeper, but, after a few moments on the floor, he's able to make a full recovery and the game gets underway once again.
2'
Z. Ibrahimović has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by H. Mkhitaryan.

GOAL! Manchester United have taken the lead! Rooney picks up the ball in the middle of the pitch and spins quickly before teeing up Mkhitaryan with a lovely pass forward. Manchester United quickly push forward and work the ball around deep inside the West Ham half of the pitch. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic link up well just outside of the penalty area before the Swedish striker nods the ball towards Wayne Rooney, but the captain is closed down swiftly and loses out to Adrian.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s EFL Cup quarter-final game between Manchester United and West Ham United at Old Trafford.
Despite being unbeaten in their last four games, life at Manchester United is still proving to be a struggle for Jose Mourinho, who remains under pressure after guiding his side to their worst league start since 1990. The Red Devils thumped Feyenoord six days ago but have disappointed domestically, and their struggles were on show in Sunday’s lacklustre draw against West Ham.
Diafra Sakho scored after just 90 seconds to give the Hammers the lead on the weekend, and they did well to leave Old Trafford with a point after successfully nullifying the hosts in the second half. Slaven Bilic’s struggling side, who sit just one point clear of the Premier League relegation zone, have won only one of their last five games, but that came thanks to an impressive display in the last round of the EFL Cup.
Last month saw Manchester United beat rivals Manchester City to set up this evening’s clash, but that win - against a slightly under-strength City side - was the one of the only instances of them beating a top team this season. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have all either beaten or drawn against Mourinho’s men, whilst Burnley and Fenerbahce have both managed to hold them to stalemates over the past month.
Manchester United will be without Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini tonight after both were booked for the fifth time this season during Sunday’s game. As for West Ham, they’re once again able to call on Winston Reid, who was suspended on the weekend, but will be without Diafra Sakho, who picked up a hamstring injury in the Hammers’ last game.
Manchester United substitutes: Romero, Blind, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Lingard, Mata, Rashford.
Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Shaw; Herrera, Carrick; Mkhitaryan, Rooney, Martial; Ibrahimovic.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
West Ham United substitutes: Randolph, Masuaku, Collins, Nordtveit, Noble, Lanzini, Zaza.
West Ham United XI (3-4-3): Adrian; Kouyate, Reid, Ogbonna; Antonio, Fernandes, Obiang, Cresswell; Feghouli, Fletcher, Payet.
Jose Mourinho has decided to make five changes to the Manchester United side that started the draw against West Ham on the weekend, with Luke Shaw, Michael Carrick, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial coming into the starting line-up to replace Matteo Darmian, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford, respectively.
Meanwhile, West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has also made five alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with the most notable inclusion being former Manchester United youngster Ashley Fletcher, who starts up front in place of the injured Diafra Sakho. Meanwhile, Darren Randolph, James Collins, Mark Noble and Manuel Lanzini have all made way for Adrian, Winston Reid, Edimilson Fernandes and Sofiane Feghouli.
The two sides are making their way out on to the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-1 WEST HAM UNITED
It was a great start to the game for Manchester United, who flew out of the blocks and were immediately rewarded with a well-worked early goal. Since then, however, West Ham have done well to come back into the game and deservedly head into the half-time break with the scoreline level. They haven't been as prolific as the hosts in front of goal but did well to take advantage of a rare mistake by De Gea, who fumbled a Payet shot to hand Fletcher an easy chance to tap in his first ever senior goal for the Hammers.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 4-1 WEST HAM UNITED
In the end, it was a relatively easy evening for Manchester United, who were given little to think about by West Ham and looked incredibly comfortable once Martial had put them 2-1 up. The Frenchman worked well alongside Ibrahimovic and Rooney, with all three causing plenty of problems for the Hammers' back line from start to finish.
