B. Matuidi has scored a goal for PSG! Assist by J. Pastore.
Decisive from the substitute.
MATUIDI! LIGHTS OUT! The midfielder thrusts a dagger into Metz hearts with a looping header from a Pastore cross on the byline. He wheels off in celebration as PSG have surely won it!
90' +2
OFF THE WOODWORK! MY WORD METZ NEARLY WON IT! It was almost a carbon copy of their first goal. Kimpembe fouled Diabate, Jouffe stepped up to take the free-kick but the only difference was the crossbar came to PSG's rescue!
90'
P. Kimpembe gets yellow.
Kimpembe has been all at sea in the second half, and fouls Diabate again on the edge of the area.
88'
C. Diabaté has scored a goal for Metz! Assist by I. Sarr.
Sarr made the telling pass to free Diabate.
METZ HAVE COME BACK FROM THE DEAD! This is incredible! Diabate has been the best player on the pitch since coming on, and he steals in down the centre to poke home a clever little finish!
87'
Guedes pulls off a dummy near the top of the box that sees the ball worked deep to Meunier, who tries an ambitious volley that ends up right down the throat of the keeper.
84'
Not sure what that was. Verratti puts a long pass on a plate for Cavani, who ghosts in behind the defence and tries to lob the keeper, but nearly ends up kicking a field goal instead.
81'
Metz, so downtrodden and outclassed at times in this game, are now right back in the thick of things. The home fans are energized again after ambling along for over an hour. The have just under 10 minutes to draw level!
78'
Y. Jouffre has scored a goal for Metz!
IT'S A CRACKER! Another substitute makes a decisive impact for Metz, with Jouffre letting fly from over 25 yards, burying a superb free-kick into the bottom corner!
77'
Diabate has been a handful since coming on, and Kimpembe is forced to bring down the substitute inside his own half, leading to a decent free-kick chance for the home side.
76'
Y. Jouffre enters the game and replaces C. Doukouré.
Gonçalo Guedes enters the game and replaces Lucas Moura.
Guedes is the latest player to come on, with Lucas making way.
Doukoure departs for Jouffre.
Minute
Description
74'
Diabate, fresh off the bench, gets Metz's best chance of the game with an opportunistic shot from distance that dips, swerves and eventually heads wide of the far post.
72'
C. Diabaté enters the game and replaces M. Erdinç.
Cheick Diabate has been introduced in place of Erdinc.
71'
Lucas springs into life to dart into a pocket of space on the right-hand side, but just as he's about to pull the trigger on a cross or a shot, the duo of Udol and Milan come across to put out that fire.
68'
Erdinc, who has hardly had a look in all game, gets a chance to isolate Marquinhos on the run, but the defender does well to snuff out that attack and clear.
65'
Metz have managed to 'cut' PSG's possession to 72 per cent, down from it's peak of 85 per cent in the first half. Still, it's the visitors who look the most likely to score the next goal of the game.
63'
I. Sarr enters the game and replaces K. Lejeune.
Sarr, who was expected to start, enters for Kevin Lejeune, who the fans aren't happy to see depart!
62'
Pastore uses his first few touches to get himself in position to tee up a cross for Lucas, but the Brazilian can't evade his defender in time to get on the end of it. Just under half hour to go.
61'
J. Pastore enters the game and replaces Á. Di María.
Di Maria departs and on comes Pastore.
59'
The visitors are starting to up the intensity here, with white shirts swarming into the penalty area to attack whenever they get in a crossing position. Continues to be one-way traffic here.
56'
Metz have slowed down after an encouraging start, and PSG also don't seem in any hurry to apply pressure in a bid to get a third goal. One more for the visitors and that would be it, you feel.
53'
The home fans are taking some pleasure in the enterprise being shown by Metz in the second half. Verratti is remonstrating with the referee, still unhappy with that challenge by Doukoure.
50'
Verratti is alright to continue, and PSG can breathe a sigh of relief. However, they have some defending to do as Metz launch a rare attack. It leads to a free-kick for the hosts which is sent just wide.
48'
Some concern here for PSG as Verratti, who was one of their most influential players in the first half, is down on the deck writhing in some pain. He's taken to the sideline to be treated further.
46'
Off we go again.
45'
PSG have won all 11 of the games in which they've scored first this season. They've managed three shots on target so far, with two ending up in the back of the net. No shots of any kind for Metz.
42'
F. Diagne gets yellow.
Fallou Diagne trods on the foot of Matuidi, and the referee stops the game to show the Metz man the first yellow card of the game. Three minutes to go in the first half.
39'
It already looks like PSG are heading back level on points with Monaco at the top of the table. Leonardo Jardim's men, of course, will have a game in hand due to their Champions League commitments tomorrow.
36'
B. Matuidi has scored a goal for PSG! Assist by Maxwell.
ANOTHER GOAL FOR PSG! Maxwell again provides the telling pass with a smooth ball into the path of Matuidi, who doesn't break stride and buries a finish down the centre of the goal.
Another perfect setup from the full back.
33'
E. Cavani has scored a goal for PSG! Assist by Maxwell.
THERE IS THE OPENING GOAL! Cavani plunders his 30th league goal of the season, arriving right in the centre of the six-yard area to guide a cool header home.
Maxwell was bound to end up with an assist the way he's been playing.
30'
I don't think Metz have managed to keep the ball out of their own half for more than about five minutes. The stats back that up - PSG have held 86 per cent of possession in the opening half hour.
27'
A PSG free-kick appears to be at too much of an angle for Di Maria, but the Argentine goes for goal anyway, forcing Kawashima to punch clear. Moments later, the winger commits a cynical challenge that earns him a stern lecture.
24'
HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN? Once again, Maxwell storms down the left-hand side to get a ball into the box, but Lucas, who appeared to be in prime position to convert, fails to pick out the target.
21'
Verratti's passing is providing all sorts of headaches for the Metz defence. He's been able to get the ball down the line to free the full-backs, but the hosts have been able to narrowly scramble the crosses away.
18'
Lovely move from PSG as Verratti pulls the strings with a delightful pass that picks out Matuidi on a dime. The midfielder squares for Cavani, but his finish is blocked! That almost deserved a goal.
15'
Maxwell makes a great run down the centre and spots Cavani peeling away to the near post. He crosses early, and the Uruguayan looks to have snuck ahead of Milan, but the defender clears for another corner.
12'
Lucas takes on Udol once again out wide, but his cross is unable to find a teammate. Metz try to launch an attack of their own, but they soon lose the ball and hand possession back to PSG.
9'
Metz are being penned back in their own half, and Udol is forced to block a Lucas cross out for a corner. However, Di Maria's subsequent delivery is handled well by Kawashima.
6'
Plenty of aggression and positive intent from Paris Saint-Germain in the opening stages. Bisevac thwarts a shot from Blaise Matuidi, but the offside flag is up on the far side in any case.
3'
Good early action for Kawashima who comes out confidently to claim a cross from Angel di Maria. PSG have settled on the ball quickly and are dominating possession, as you would expect.
1'
Off we go.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Ligue 1 match between Metz and Paris Saint-Germain. The hosts want to avoid being dragged into the relegation fight, while the visitors are staring up a three-point hole to league leaders Monaco.
Metz have picked up only one point from their last three Ligue 1 games. They're five points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand - not quite out of the woods but also not waking up in cold sweats every night.
Unai Emery's side are looking to make it eight straight wins on the road. They have five games to make up a three-point deficit on Monaco, and have also recorded five straight wins against Metz.
Eiji Kawashima starts for Metz this afternoon in goal, while Benoit Assou-Ekotto continues to serve his three-match suspension. Ismalia Sarr returned from injury against Caen, but will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Thiago Silva and Javier Pastore are left on the bench for PSG as Presnel Kimpembe and Lucas Moura both get starts. Otherwise, it's an expected first 11 from Emery.
And that will do it for the first half, as PSG take a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break. It's been a dominant performance from the visitors, as close to one-way traffic as you could imagine. Metz have a lot of work to do to get back in this. Stay tuned for the restart soon.
THAT'S IT! PSG get out of jail in the most dramatic fashion. Metz were an inch away from being 3-2 up in stoppage time and barely 60 seconds later, they were 3-2 down. If Emery's side end up winning the title they will look at the dramatic ending of this game as the turning point. Better than a blockbuster. Thanks for the ride.
