United are unbeaten in their last 24 Premier League matches and could break their single-season record by avoiding defeat to the Swans. Mourinho's men have gradually improved over the course of the season and will be eager to snatch their chance to move into the top four with a win.
Therefore a victory today would lift them temporarily into the Champions League places, with Liverpool not in action until Monday against Watford.
United earned a battling point in the Manchester derby, despite the late dismissal of Marouane Fellaini. Jose Mourinho's men are just one point behind their city rivals in fourth place and two behind Liverpool with a game in hand over the Merseysiders.
Good morning and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Swansea City.
Swansea ended a six-game winless run just at the right time in their bid to avoid the drop by beating Stoke City last week. Goals from Fernando Llorente and Tom Carroll secured the victory, although Hull's draw against Southampton has left the Swans three points adrift of safety.
Paul Clement's men know that they cannot allow that gap to extend further and must pull off a surprise result or two in their next four matches to save themselves from the drop.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Young, Bailly, Blind, Shaw; Carrick, Herrera; Lingard, Rooney, Martial, Rashford.
United subs: Valencia, Darmian, Romero, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Tuanzebe, McTominay.
SWANSEA CITY (4-3-3): Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Kingsley; Ki, Britton, Carroll; Ayew, Llorente, Sigurdsson.
Clement has made just one change from his side that beat Stoke City 2-0 last week. Ki Sung-Yeung returns to the fold to replace Leroy Fer in the middle of the park.
Wayne Rooney returns to the United starting line-up this afternoon in one of four changes from their draw against City. Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard also get the nod to start at Old Trafford against the Swans.
STAT ATTACK! Manchester United have won their last two meetings against Swansea, having previously lost three on the bounce.
STAT ATTACK! Swansea have won on two of their last four visits to Old Trafford.
The players are making their way out on to the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 SWANSEA
Swansea will be furious with referee Neil Swarbrick and Marcus Rashford at the break. The visitors had played extremely well in the first half, only for their hard work to be nullified by Rashford's tumble under no contact from Lukasz Fabianski before Wayne Rooney slotted the spot-kick into the net.
United were poor for the majority of the first half and have been bailed out by the penalty decision. Swansea had the better of the openings, but Fernando Llorente has not been at his best in the final third, while David de Gea saved well from Jordan Ayew. There's an opportunity here for Paul Clement's men should they maintain their level of performance.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway again shortly.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-1 SWANSEA CITY
Manchester United fail to seize on their opportunity to break into the top four, with Gylfi Sigurdsson's late strike denying them the three points this afternoon.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Swansea deserved their point and probably more having been on the receiving end of a poor decision from referee Neil Swarbrick for United's goal from the penalty spot. However, Paul Clement's men kept battling and have earned a vital point in their battle against the drop.
