We're underway at St Mary's Stadium.
The Toffees were hammered at home on Thursday against Atalanta in the Europa League, continuing their miserable run of form. The club have won just once in their last 11 matches - their 3-2 comeback win over Watford on November 5. If David Unsworth has any hope of securing the manager's position on a full-time basis - a victory this afternoon is a necessity.
Southampton enter today in dire need of a victory following back-to-back defeats in the Premier League. The Saints were beaten 3-0 last time out by Liverpool at Anfield, but also suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Burnley at the start of the month. Mauricio Pellegrino has not enjoyed the best of starts to his reign, but a win this afternoon woud send his team back into the top half of the table.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Southampton and Everton at St Mary's Stadium.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Unsworth has brought his experienced players back into the fold, although there's no place for Wayne Rooney after he started in the 5-1 drubbing by Atalanta. Jordan Pickford, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin, Gylfi Sigurdsson. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Aaron Lennon all return to start this afternoon.
STAT ATTACK! Everton have failed to score in eight of their last 12 Premier League visits to face Southampton, including four of the last five.
STAT ATTACK! Southampton have lost just one of their last eight home Premier League meetings with Everton, which came in a 3-0 defeat in August 2015. They've won four and drawn three of the seven contests in their impressive run over the Toffees.
STAT ATTACK! Southampton haven’t scored in 10 of their Premier League home games so far in 2017 - only rivals Portsmouth (11 in 2007) have failed to score in more Premier League home matches in a single calendar year (also Fulham 10; in 2002 and Manchester City; 10 in 1995).
FLASHBACK! Southampton won the corresponding fixture 1-0 between the teams last season, with Charlie Austin's strike in the first minute deciding the contest.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
Southampton are without Oriol Romeu and Mario Lemina this afternoon in the starting line-up. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg comes into the midfield to replace the suspended Romeu, while Lemina is not fit enough to start. Charlie Austin leads the line, with James Ward-Prowse playing in the hole just behind.
HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 EVERTON
Everton were woeful for the opening 44 minutes of the match, but Gylfi Sigurdsson's strike just before the break has given them life in the contest against Southampton. The Saints took the lead through Dusan Tadic's strike in the 11th minute and had openings to pull further ahead. However, they paid for their lack of clinical edge by the Iceland international to level the scores with his stunning effort.
FULL-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 4-1 EVERTON
Southampton complete a hammering of Everton this afternoon as a brace from Charlie Austin along with strikes from Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis guide them back to winning ways. The Toffees' miserable week continues as they concede nine goals in the space of four days, leaving them in a perilous position in the bottom three of the Premier League. Everton's hierarchy must act to appoint a permanent successor to Ronald Koeman to get the club back on track.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
