Hello and welcome to our LIVE text commentary of the Serie A fixture between AC Milan and Torino at the San Siro Stadium.
A victory for Milan would move them up to 7th in the table, whilst a win for Torino will result in them overtaking today’s opposition.
Milan are currently sat in a mid-table spot, with their rivals having pulled away in a compelling title battle at the start of this season. They suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Napoli last weekend, but impressively confirmed their place in the Europa League knockout stages on Thursday with a 5-1 victory over Austria Wien.
The two league encounters between the sides last season ended in a 3-2 home victory for Milan, whilst the reverse fixture in Turin finished in a 2-2 draw.
HEAD TO HEAD: This fixture has been dominated by the Rossoneri, with Torino’s last victory against today’s opponents coming in 2001. Milan have won 11 and drawn eight of the matches since.
There’s just over 15 minutes to go until kick off, so let’s reveal how the two teams line up…
Milan have made three changes from their last league match with Cristian Zapata, Ricardo Rodriguez and Andre Silva coming into the squad.
Torino have made one change by bringing in M’Baye Niang for Iago Falque.
Torino are unbeaten in their last three Serie A matches, a run which has moved them away from the relegation zone. They drew 1-1 to Chievo last weekend, whilst impressively becoming the third team to prevent table-topping Inter Milan from winning in Serie A when they visited the San Siro earlier this month.
The teams walk out the tunnel and are greeted by a rapturous reception from everyone inside the San Siro. The game will begin shortly but later than the scheduled kick off time after a slight delay.
HALF-TIME - MILAN 0-0 TORINO - The home side had the better chances in the opening 45 minutes and should have scored through Nikola Kalinic and Suso's early efforts. The away side grew into the contest, however, and experienced more possession as the half went on. They thought they had opened the scoring midway through the half, but Joel Obi handled the ball in the build up.
FULL-TIME – MILAN 0-0 TORINO – This Serie A clash at the San Siro finishes level after an even contest throughout the 90 minutes. Milan had the better chances in the game, but were lucky not to concede late on when Gianluigi Donnarumma saved superbly from Andrea Belotti’s close range header, before Montolivo prevented Falque’s rebounded effort. Nikola Kalinic had multiple opportunites for the home side which he failed to convert, resulting in a hostile reception for the Croatian forward when he was substituted.
Milan have now failed to score in their previous four Serie A matches at the San Siro.
