Indeed, Lossl's return is the last play of the game; as he hefts it long, the referee blows for full-time! Huddersfield are back to winning ways with a 2-0 win - and three points to lift them away from the relegation zone too.
90' +2
March puts a long cross out on the right in for Hemed and Murray; neither can rise to meet the ball however and Lossl will slowly take the goal-kick to eat down the clock.
90'
March makes a neat little run into the box on the right and Brighton look like they have a sniff of a chance as he plays it back to Bruno - only for the captain to blast it well out and over the crossbar. Three added minutes incoming.
89'
D. Williams enters the game and replaces E. Kachunga.
The Terriers make their final change now, to shore up in midfieldl; Daniel Williams comes on in lieu of Kachunga.
88'
Mooy swings it in for Lolley, straight into the box - and it just skitters in front of the substitute, running out for a goal-kick.
87'
J. Lolley enters the game and replaces T. Ince.
A free-kick to Huddersfield on their right edge, only 25 yards out from the goal. Mooy to take - and as he preps it, Ince makes way for Joe Lolley.
85'
L. Depoitre enters the game and replaces S. Mounié.
Speaking of Mounie, the double goalscorer is Huddersfield's first change, replaced by Laurent Depoitre as he exits the field to thunderous applause.
84'
March sparks up again out wide, but then comes together with Mounie, giving away the free-kick on halfway after the latter tumbles to the ground.
82'
Ince challenges for a long ball with Bruno - and comes up with it too. Only Suttner is left on his right, and he outpaces him, before popping a shot at Ryan that sees the keeper leap to punch away in the box.
81'
Smith tacks back Izquierdo as he picks up a long ball, then doubles back to intercept a return pass from Propper and pull Huddersfield away from their own box. Suddenly Brighton are looking a bit more awake at the front, no longer pinned back by the Terriers.
Minute
Description
80'
Two shots on target in two minutes for the visitors; now Murray strikes, from a near-identical position, and once again Lossl deals without breaking a sweat,
79'
Brighton finally have a shot on goal again, this time from Izquierdo on the left, 20 yards out - but it poses no trouble for Lossl and he collects with little trouble.
77'
Hogg and Mooy combine now from the corner and Propper lands a boot to send the ball away from danger. Huddersfield come straight back in though; Kachunga hooks up possession and plays it long to Ince, whose shot from a sharp angle on the right side of the box just skirts over the crossbar.
76'
Mooy plays deep to Kachunga, whose cross from the left in for Ince is muscled out by Bruno. Corner for Huddersfield.
75'
Free-kick to Brighton now though, 25 yards out on the left as Zanka fouls Propper. It's a nicely struck effort - but Hemed, as well as three other attackers, are all offside and the flag comes up.
73'
T. Hemed enters the game and replaces I. Brown.
Brighton make their final change - Brown is replaced by Tomer Hemed. Huddersfield are yet to make a switch.
It's a frantic passage of defence from Brighton, who manage to deflect shots from Mooy, Ince, Hogg and Mounie with a spell of crazed, ad-hoc defending off the cuff, eventually getting a goal-kick as the latter's second effort dribbles wide.
72'
A second corner now as Bruno heads out Smith's cross from the short corner. Huddersfield's ten men not in goal are all crowded around the Brighton box, looking for that goal to kill off the game.
70'
What a kick by Kachunga! He plays a ridiculpus half-scissor kick on the fly out wide on the right to try and find Ince in front of goal; the latter can't connect however, and Mooy's second-phase effort is knocked out for a corner.
68'
They combine again seconds later and it's Smith who puts the shot away after a Kachunga run, his effort from the right corner of the Brighton box just skimming out at the far left post around the gloves of Ryan.
66'
Brighton have made two attacking changes then - but they're yet to prise open Huddersfield in a manner that will concern David Wagner. Smith is delivering a fine captain's showing out on the wing, combing with Kachunga to prise the ball away from Izquierdo in the latter's first attempt to break down the wing.
64'
Izquierdo arrives as Brighton's second change, their record signing on for Gross as March blows a long shot out over the crossbar from 30 yards.
63'
J. Izquierdo enters the game and replaces P. Groß.
Mounie blasts into the Brighton box on the left flank and crosses for Ince, only for a deflection off Dunk to send it to Ryan's hands. The Huddersfield man and fans behind the goal appeal loudly for a handball, but they have their concerns waved away by the referee.
62'
Murray darts across, and drifts forward searching for a March cross - and he is pinged for offside again. Brighton see their latest chance slip away.
60'
Mooy swings it in and Bruno deflects back into midfield. Smith brings it back round for the former who crosses again for Kachunga at the far left post - only for his header to float out wide.
59'
Smith and Kachunga combine again to put the latter into the box via a header and his tight-angle shot is forced out for a corner by Ryan.
57'
Now Mounie blasts a shot way into the stand from within the box as an attempted volley off a Hogg pass goes awry.
56'
Great save from Ryan! The Brighton keeper reads a Smith cross, fed by Kachunga to the right, that swings in low with Ince and Mounie both trying to bundle it in; he gets low and plucks it out from beneath the latter's feet.
55'
Hogg, Mooy and Quaner play a wonderful passage down the left that ends with the latter's shot being pushed back into midfield by March.
53'
March showing brutal pace down the right wing so far, and earns a throw for Bruno. He puts it long in for the substitute in the box, who taps onto Propper - and the Brighton man pushes his shot over the crossbar by a few feet. One of the best chances for the visitors yet there.
51'
Mounie skies a cross in from the right flank, sending it high - and subsequently too long for Ince to latch onto as well.
49'
Hogg lands a stray foot into the path of a Murray cross and Schindler plays it back to Lossl. He punts it long - and finds Ince, alone at the front, who nearly gets a shot off, only to be foiled by Dunk speeding back to tackle him on the lip of the box.
47'
It's an instant impact from March too - he scythes down the right wing, doubles back at the edge of the box and whips a cross in for Brown and Murray. It beats both and the former cuts across to chase it and return from the left to find Gross, whose header only finds Schindler. The best passage of attacking play all day from Brighton.
46'
S. March enters the game and replaces E. Schelotto.
We're back underway at the John Smith's Stadium and Brighton have made an attacking change - out goes Schelotto and in his place arrives Solomon March as the visitors look to strike back.
45' +2
Huddersfield are content to wind down the extra minutes with some midfield holding and a final throw-in for Smith prompts the referee to blow for half-time!
45'
What a time to get your second of the afternoon, just before half-time. There's two added minutes on the way; Chris Hughton will have a tough team-talk to give after this opening 45.
43'
S. Mounié has scored a goal for Huddersfield Town! Assist by M. Jørgensen.
Corner to Huddersfield now, out on their right edge, after Ince sees a cross knocked out by Duffy under pressure.
Assist Mathias Jattah-Njie Jørgensen
It's that man Steve Mounie again! Lowe's corner swings wide across the box and comes to Mooy on the left, whose second-phase cross goes in to Zanka. He heads it back into the box in earnest from the right, finds Mounie in the congestion and he heads into the bottom left corner under Ryan. Two goals for the striker; two goals for the Terriers.
42'
Brown wins a great ball off Ince in his own half;; and then gives it away cheaply by opting to lump it downfield straight to Lossl, with Murray and Gross nowehere in sight.
40'
Mooy puts it short on the left aiming for the near post and a backheel from Hogg, only for the latter to not come quite off and Duffy to clear frantically.
39'
Smith bombs down the right, doubles back to Mooy and the latter wings a cross in for Quaner, only for Bruno to head it out. Corner to Huddersfield.
37'
Quaner botches a cross from the left under pressure from Bruno, to the frustration of three fellow Terriers lurking around Ryan who collects with ease.
35'
Brighton get a free-kick on the left now, 40 yards out, as Zanka is penalised for a clumsy tackle. The Huddersfield man is unhappy and claims that there was a dive - though the referee is unmoved.
33'
Smith now crashes down the right wing and earns a throw-in that he slips to Ince. He twists on a dime and shoots on that edge of the box - but his effort is rather tame and skews well wide of the post.
32'
Hogg puts an absolutely delicious ball down the left wing and into the box for Mounie and Kachunga - only for both to be caught flat-footed by the cross and it skips away and out for a goal-kick.
30'
Bruno tries a crossfield sweep of a pass to find Murray on his left edge, and Schindler barrels in to shut down the threat with a solid tackle.
28'
Murray is teed up to strike with a lovely delivery from the left by Propper - only for Hogg to get in around the latter and pinch the pass. Huddersfield are shutting down Brighton's central midfield options with a resolute skill so far.
26'
Free-kick out on the right for the Terriers now as Bruno lands a heavy tackle on Kachunga. 30 yards out, they could go for goal here - instead, Mooy opts to play it wide on the blindside and Brighton are able to outmuscle them around the back.
25'
Limited success this time for Huddersfield from the in-swinging effort, headed away by Duffy and punted further out of danger by Brighton.
24'
Mooy breaks down the right edge now after he picks up a ball earned in a hefty Hogg tackle - and his cross in for Mounie via Quaner is put out back by Dunk. Corner to the hosts.
22'
Murray looks to sneak down the right wing, only for Schindler and Lowe to squeeze him out force his effort wide by a considerable margin.
20'
Brown shows a wonderful burst of speed down the left wing for Brighton now; only for his flat cross to swing in behind Murray and ahead of Gross, allowing Smith to double across and clear.
18'
Gross and Dunk both rise for the corner - though neither can get the ball at the first attempt and it falls to Zanka instead who clears it out of danger.
16'
Free-kick to Brighton now, as Kachunga fouls Brown, 40 yards out on the visitors' left wing. It's floated long and in for Murray who tries to cross back in - and sees Schindler deflect for a corner.
14'
That's a good goal and a much needed one for the hosts, as Ince pins back Gross and steals the ball from him. The Terriers are looking rather buoyed by that score; Albion look sluggish to respond.
12'
S. Mounié has scored a goal for Huddersfield Town! Assist by C. Schindler.
Mounie by the far post! Lowe whips the cross in short from the right flank, and Schindler heads it back across the face of goal to the left edge where the Beninese international smuggles it in. Huddersfield get the goal; they lead 1-0 in the first fifteen minutes.
Assist Christopher Schindler
11'
Corner for Huddersfield now as Mooy feeds Mounie on the right and the latter sees his attempted cross back to Quaner deflected out by Dunk.
10'
Schelotto tries to find a way through on the right and in the end, under pressure from Schindler, sees his pass forced towards Lossl who recovers unopposed.
8'
Mounie! The Huddersfield man catches Dunk and Duffy out of position on the right edge of the box and blasts one for the close bottom corner; Ryan gets fingertips and pushes it away with sharp reflexes.
7'
Free-kick 35 yards out on the right edge for Brighton now. Bruno floats it in for Murray in the box - and again, the centre-forward is caught offside by the flag. Twice in a row, he's been foiled by the whistle.
6'
Now Ince looks to slip a ball in for Quaner, in centre-field approaching the box; the latter is then also hauled up by the linesman.
5'
Close for Murray! The Brighton man is caught by the linesman's flag off a well-serviced pass from Stephens - though his effort still forces Lossl to dive and tip out.
4'
Kachunga taps a short, low cross in from the right flank looking for Mounie in the Brighton box; Dunk slips in and sweeps it away from danger.
2'
Early throw to Brighton, which Bruno looks to put long - only to see it picked out of the attack by Quaner who ferries it back down the left wing with little hassle.
1'
We're off at the John Smith's Stadium! Huddersfield are in their customary blue-and-white kit, playing from right to left; Albion are in yellow and grey.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of matchweek 16 of the 2017/18 Premier League, as Huddersfield look to put some distance between them and the bottom three against Brighton and Hove Albion. The two teams have had mixed starts to life in the top flight this year; can one of them kick on in the run-up to Christmas with a vital three points? We’re just around the corner from kick-off.
This is the first league encounter in English football’s highest division between these two sides, with 50 previous meetings split across the second and third tiers of English football. Brighton have only won one of their last nine away games at the John Smith’s Stadium though – and they lost 1-3 in the corresponding fixture in the Championship last season.
Huddersfield goals have been at a premium at home though; all of their wins so far on their own turf have been by a single-goal margin, with only four Terriers players scoring at all, in the shape of Depoitre, Mooy, Mounie and van La Parra – fewer than any other team.
It’s been a season to forget at the back for Brighton’s Lewis Dunk so far though – he’s scored three own-goals already, only one less than the record held by Martin Skrtel in 2013/14. Likewise, it has been a difficult campaign for Tom Ince up in Yorkshire; he has mustered 32 shots without scoring this season in the Premier League, more than any other player.
Brighton will hope to push their advantage against a struggling Terriers side who have form for falling apart in the second half this year; Huddersfield have lost each of their four last Premier League games, having last lost five in January 1993 in the third tier, whilst they have also conceded more goals after the break than anyone else in the top flight, with 19.
Teams are out and we're moments away from kick-off...
Just the response David Wagner has been looking for after woeful recent form, Huddersfield have dominated this game from the off, with minimal resistance from their opponents. Brighton looked marooned - it'll take something special to haul them back into this match. Half-time at the John Smith's Stadium, it's Huddersfield 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion.
In the end, the damage was done in the first half - two Steve Mounie goals that sunk Brighton's hopes of a win. Albion tried to find a way back into this game - but a great shift in midfield and defence from Tom Smith and Elias Kachunge put paid to their efforts. David Wagner will sleep soundly tonight; full-time at the John Smith's Stadium, it finishes Huddersfield 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion.
Huddersfield are back at home in just three days for what surely will be a mouthwatering match as they host champions Chelsea, with the Blues likely to be smarting from a shock defeat to West Ham today. As for Brighton, they travel to Tottenham on Wednesday, heading to Wembley knowing that any points in the run-up to Christmas could be crucial in the new year. Until then however, thank you for joining us - and have a good weekend!
