We're underway at the Nou Camp.
Good evening and welcome along to tonight's La Liga text commentary of Barcelona vs Deportivo La Coruna. The visitors face a real uphill challenge tonight as they prepare to try and beat the league leaders at the Nou Camp.
Ernesto Valverde's side remain unbeaten in all competitions this season, with their last defeat coming in the Spanish Super Cup to Real Madrid. They have a three point cushion ahead of kick-off but that can be stretched to six with a victory. Barca were last in action last week and they proved too much for Villarreal and secured a 2-0 win.
Tonight's team news coming up...
Deportivo have won two of their last five outings and they sit just outside the relegation zone but there's bound to nerves within their dressing room. They did record a 1-0 win over Leganes in their last league game but that was a much easier challenge than today's task.
Barcelona Starting XI (4-3-3): Ter Stegen, Roberto, Pique, Vermaelen, Alba, Rakitic, Paulinho, Iniesta, Messi, Luis Suarez, Alcacer.
Barcelona SUBS: Busquets, Denis Suarez, Cillessen, Mascherano, Digne, Gomes, Vidal.
Valverde makes two changes to his side following the win over Villarreal. Sergio Busquets and Denis Suarez drop out and in come Andres Iniesta and Paco Alcacer. Deportivo boss Cristobal sticks with the same starting XI that beat Leganes but he may look to his bench to keep his team nice and fresh as they prepare to press the Barca attacks.
The two teams are out on the field and we are minutes away from kick off.
Half-time - Barcelona 2-0 Deportivo.
The referee blows to stop Barcelona's onslaught but it could easily be four-nil at the Nou Camp. Messi has been so unlucky to hit the woodwork twice and Suarez's goal did look to be over the line. However, on the positive side they have dominated their opposition and will look to kick on in the second 45 minutes.
Deportivo look slow in possession and they cannot seem to stop Barca's midfield. This could get ugly, join us for more coverage shortly!
FULL-TIME Barcelona 4-0 Deportivo.
Two goals each from Suarez and Paulinho get the job done for Barca, but in reality it could have been 8-0 tonight. The home side hit the post on numerous occasions and Messi was just unlucky in front of goal. It was the perfect warm-up for the El Clasico next week, with Valverde's men six points clear at the top of the table!
Deportivo will need to regroup immediately as they continue their fight to stay in the top flight but it was always going to be an uphill struggle.
