The away side need to give Depoitre more support in this half if they are to get back into this contest. As Southampton's pressure increased, he looked like an isolated figure in the opening 45 minutes.

6'
Southampton's defence already shows signs of nerves as a cross from Tom Ince is met and guided towards goal by Colin Quaner. His effort was blocked but Maya Yoshida produced an air kick, instead of clearing the ball, before it was eventually dealt with by Fraser Forster.

Hello and welcome to our LIVE text commentary of the Premier League fixture between Southampton and Huddersfield Town at St Mary’s Stadium.
Tough upcoming Christmas fixtures means this is a crucial match for Southampton, whilst Huddersfield will hope to push on after an impressive victory last weekend.
Today’s home side travel to Tottenham and Manchester United over the Christmas period, so this is a massive fixture for Mauricio Pellegrino and his players. They have only won one out of their last six league matches, which most recently included a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend. This run has left Southampton in 12th place and only three points clear of the relegation zone.
In contrast, Huddersfield’s two wins in three matches has left them six points clear of the relegation zone and in 11th place. They brushed aside Watford last weekend by beating them 4-1 at Vicarage Road, which remarkably was their first away win and away goals since their opening day victory over Crystal Palace.
The build-up to this match has been dominated by a goodwill gesture from Mathias Jorgensen, otherwise known as Zanka, who announced that he is buying a drink for every away fan making the 500-mile round trip to this afternoon’s match. The defender said he wanted to thank the Huddersfield fans for their amazing support this season.
HEAD TO HEAD: In the last five contests both sides have won two matches each, whilst their Premier League encounter in August ended as a 0-0 draw.
There’s just over 15 minutes to go until kick off, so let’s reveal how the two teams line up…
Huddersfield Town XI (4-5-1): Lossl; Hadergjonaj, Jorgensen, Schindler, Malone; Quaner, Mooy, Ince, Williams, van La Parra; Depoitre.
Huddersfield Town substitutes: Smith, Whitehead, Coleman, Cranie, Lowe, Lolley, Mounie.
Southampton make five changes from their last outing with Matt Targett, Steven Davis, Mario Lemina, James Ward-Prowse and Dusan Tadic starting this contest.
Huddersfield have made three changes from their victory over Watford with Scott Malone, Danny Williams and Tom Ince coming into the side.
The teams walk out of the tunnel at St Mary’s Stadium and exchange handshakes to the Premier League anthem. The game will begin shortly.
HALF-TIME – SOUTHAMPTON 1-0 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN – Mauricio Pellegrino will be delighted with how his players responded after a slow start in this contest. The away side hit the bar early on, but it was Charlie Austin who opened the scoring for the home side by converting inside the six-yard box after a flicked assist by Wesley Hoedt. There was controversy shortly afterwards, however, as Austin appeared to leave his boot in during a challenge with Jonas Lossl. It left the goalkeeper with a cut nose, but the striker escaped punishment.
Thank you for joining our Live Text Commentary between Southampton and Huddersfield Town. Until next time, goodbye.
FULL-TIME – SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN – This contest ends level after a goal in each half for both sides. Southampton took the lead in the opening 45 minutes through Charlie Austin, who headed in from a corner. The striker had a brilliant opportunity to double the lead in the second half, but failed to convert despite having a one-on-one opportunity after dragging his effort past the post. It turned out to be a pivotal moment as, moments later, Laurent Depoitre headed in from close-range to equalise after an inviting cross from Tom Smith. Southampton pushed for a winner in the closing stages as Maya Yoshida saw his header cannon off the post, but they failed to score as the game ended as a draw
