Good afternoon and welcome to our live coverage of today’s Premier League game between Stoke City and Everton at the Bet365 Stadium.
One win in their last 11 league outings has put Stoke in the relegation places, albeit only one point adrift of Southampton in 17th. The concern for Paul Lambert’s side at the moment is they have the second worst defensive record in the league after conceding 56 goals in 30 games, only one goal fewer than West Ham United.
Everton face the prospect of losing six Premier League away games in a row for the first time since 1994, a record Sam Allardyce will be keen for his team to avoid. The concern for Everton is that they have won only one game all season away from home, with their last victory coming in a 1-0 win over Newcastle in December.
The good news for the Toffees is their home form is much better, helping to propel them 10 points clear of the relegation places, three away from the 40 point mark. Allardyce will be without key midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson (knee) and defender Ashley Williams (suspended), but midfielder Idrissa Gueye and forward Theo Walcott are available to play.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Both Crystal Palace and West Brom, who occupy the other two relegation spots, are also in action this afternoon so failure to win could begin to heap pressure on the Potters. Lambert's men will be without midfielder Stephen Ireland and goalkeeper Lee Grant, but forwards Saido Berahino and Mame Biram Diouf are in contention to feature, with the latter missing last week’s defeat to Manchester City with a shoulder injury.
Stoke City XI (4-3-3): Butland; Johnson, Shawcross, Zouma, Stafylidis; Ndiaye, Allen, Adam; Shaqiri, Crouch, Ramadan.
Everton are forced into one change from the side that beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 last weekend, with Gylfi Sigurdsson missing through injury. Idrissa Gueye replaces him, meaning Wayne Rooney will start in the number 10 role.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
There are five changes to the Stoke side that was beaten 2-0 by Manchester City on Monday night. Peter Crouch gets the nod in attack, with the forward one goal away from becoming Stoke’s all-time Premier League leading goalscorer. Ramadan Sobhi replaces Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting on the left wing, while Charlie Adam comes into the side in place of Geoff Cameron. In defence, Bruno Martins Indi and Moritz Bauer are replaced by Ryan Shawcross and Glen Johnson respectively.
HALF-TIME: STOKE CITY 0-0 EVERTON.
Goalless at the break and there has been very little to split the two sides. Neither side have created much in attack but Stoke's job will be that much harder after Charlie Adam received a straight red card for a foul on Wayne Rooney. Everton have yet to threaten despite the numerical advantage but they have 45 minutes left to make that advantage count.
The players are back out and ready to go.
FULL-TIME: STOKE CITY 1-2 EVERTON.
Everton finally stop the rot, winning for the first time away from home since December. Stoke had a tough job with 10-men after Charlie Adam's red card but a scramble in the box was eventually fired into the back of the net by Cenk Tosun to give Everton the lead. Stoke found an equaliser shortly after as Pickford hesitated to allow Eric Maxin Choupo-Moting to poke home, before Tosun got his second with a low header to seal the victory for Allarydce's men and put the Toffees level on points with Leicester City in eighth.
