McGregor and Armstrong combine well once more on the right side of the pitch, but nothing comes from the attack and that should be all here!
90' +2
It's safe to say Navas is taking his time with the goal kick here, as Ritchie tells him to get on with it!
90'
Three minutes of stoppage time to go in this one as we look set for an away win, unless Scotland can grab a late goal!
87'
J. Murphy enters the game and replaces M. Ritchie.
Matt Ritchie will be replaced by debutant Jamie Murphy, not the first tonight!
Robertson turns recipient as he creeps in at the back post, reaching high for his header and putting the effort just wide of the post. Unlucky from the left back that has collected the captain's armband in Mulgrew's absence.
85'
Great feet by Phillips on the left wing to create half a yard to cross the ball in, unfortunately the ball is overhit and out for a goal kick.
Ruiz continues to rack up the touches, he's popped up all over the pitch throughout this evening's game showing his composure, technique and passing ability more often than not.
83'
Time is ticking for Scotland here, can they grab an equaliser in the closing minutes? Only time will tell!
82'
J. McGinn enters the game and replaces C. Mulgrew.
Scotland's captain this evening Charlie Mulgrew is replaced by John McGinn.
81'
Does Andy Robertson ever run out of energy? He bombs down the left hand side once more and plays the perfect pass into the near post, the ball drops onto Ritchie's left foot but he can't get a sweet enough connection! Great play from the left back again, what a talent!
78'
F. Calvo enters the game and replaces B. Oviedo.
Former Everton man Oviedo is replaced by Calvo too, as the series of Costa Rican subs continues.
77'
M. Phillips enters the game and replaces O. McBurnie.
Sub for Scotland, McBurnie is replaced by Phillips. The young striker has done himself no harm tonight in staking a claim for a regular spot in the side.
Ritchie's early shot from just outside the box is blocked instantly, good persistence from Armstrong to create the chance there and unlucky for Scotland.

Description
75'
I. Smith enters the game and replaces C. Gamboa.
Another sub for Costa Rica as Celtic's Cristian Gamboa is replaced by Ian Smith.
73'
Scotland started to look like scoring when McGregor and Armstrong entered the field of play, but a string of Costa Rican subs has broken the momentum for the home side as things have died down again.
69'
Y. Ruiz enters the game and replaces M. Ureña.
Goalscorer Urena departs after an impressive performance, to be replaced by brother of Bryan, Yendrick Ruiz.
67'
Almost! Robertson manages to break into the box cleanly after combining with Ritchie and looks to play the ball square to McBurnie - so unlucky from the youngster not to get on the end of that one!
65'
McGregor sets up Ritchie for a powerful left-footed strike on goal, parried out for a corner by Navas! Fantastic weight on the pass there from McGregor.
64'
R. Wallace enters the game and replaces D. Colindres.
Second change for Costa Rica as Colindres is replaced by Wallace.
61'
Left-footed corner from Ritchie is headed away, he's played 3 or 4 teasing crosses in over the last few minutes, it's up to the attacking players to gamble in the box to try and grab an equalizer!
59'
Great ball in by Ritchie from the left, unfortunately there was nobody in the box anticipating the cross!
58'
C. McGregor enters the game and replaces T. Cairney.
S. Armstrong enters the game and replaces S. McTominay.
Scott McTominay's debut comes to an end as he's replaced by Stuart Armstrong in the first of a possible six changes for Scotland. It'll be Armstrong's 5th cap this evening.
Celtic's Callum McGregor will replace Fulham's Tom Cairney in midfield too.
56'
Y. Tejeda enters the game and replaces D. Guzmán.
Tejeda will replace the injured Guzman as Costa Rica make the first change of the game.
53'
Good attacking move there from Scotland, McKenna wins the ball back in midfield and a good passage of play ends with McBurnie receiving the ball in the box - he's taken the ball the wrong way though and back into traffic as he tried to find an angle for the shot on his right foot. We'll now have a short break in play for an injury to Guzman.
51'
McBurnie has looked bright so far without getting much support from his team, constantly pressing the back line and always making himself available for short, intricate passes and long, aerial balls.
48'
CHANCE! Ruiz gets the wrong side of Robertson, cuts in and lashes the ball towards goal from a tight angle - the shot bounces out off the woodwork! Clever effort by Ruiz there and Robertson really should be doing better.
47'
Ritchie's free-kick from the right wing almost dropped for Cairney to get a shot off at goal but not quite, set pieces are one department where Scotland seem to have the upper hand here.
46'
We're off!
45'
Corner for Costa Rica, and we'll have one minute added time here.
44'
Slight lack of urgency from the home side there, as Ritchie looked to take the quick throw-in but wasn't given an early option. The eventual throw to McBurnie is miscontrolled and Costa Rica get the ball back.
43'
Half time fast approaching at Hampden here as Ritchie's deflected cross loops over the bar and out for a corner.
41'
Oviedo deserves credit for his performance down the left for Costa Rica in this first half. Similarly to Robertson, he has consistently provided an outlet for his team and has shown high productivity in possession including the all important cross to assist Urena.
38'
Best move of the game for Scotland. Robertson and McBurnie involved once more as the latter picks up the ball in the box and tries to fire a shot off at goal, only for it to be blocked away at short range. The home side are looking to put the pressure on for the final stages of the first half!
37'
Other than the occasional break down the left, Scotland are struggling to show signs of creativity so far. Their passing has lacked fluency and Costa Rica have bossed possession.
34'
What a ball in from Robertson! McBurnie almost gets on the end of the cross, he's claiming that a defender impeded him but the ref's having none of it!
31'
Urena is finding a lot of space for a man playing up top on his own, Ruiz almost picked him out with a great through ball there but the striker didn't quite have enough pace to get there - Scotland will have to keep an eye on him to prevent him causing any further damage!
28'
Chance comes to nothing as we're back with Costa Rica in possession, spraying it around the defence waiting for an opening further up the pitch.
Once again Costa Rica lose concentration in possession, McBurnie shoots and tests Navas who manages to dive down to his left to parry away comfortably.
27'
Chance for Scotland as they win an attacking throw up the pitch, any attacking opportunities for them so far have come from Costa Rica giving the ball away cheaply.
25'
Robertson gets up the left wing well once more, but his mis-hit cross has drifted out for a goal kick. So far, he seems to be the best outlet for the home side.
24'
Mulgrew whips in the ball from the resulting free-kick, McKenna rises high to head the ball across the penalty box but there's nobody to get on the end of the final ball and put in the back of the net! Better from Scotland though.
23'
D. Guzmán gets yellow.
Guzman picks up the yellow card for bringing down McTominay after giving the ball away. A good foul, as they say.
19'
Scotland will be looking to bounce back imminently, they've got plenty of players on fine form and looking to make an impression so it's up to them to step up and grab the game by the scruff of the neck now.
14'
M. Ureña has scored a goal for Costa Rica! Assist by B. Oviedo.
GOOOOOAAAL! What a finish, no chance for McGregor! Oviedo plays a great low cross into the box to Urena, who takes the chance with style slotting it right into the corner! It's safe to say this is definitely not the start McLeish was looking for!
Assist Bryan Oviedo
Goal Marcos Danilo Ureña Porras
13'
Not too much to shout about so far, as Costa Rica have enjoyed the majority of possession but neither side has managed to create a clear chance yet.
10'
Robertson is caught just offside as he looked to get in behind the Costa Rican defence there, his powerful runs have been crucial in recent weeks for Liverpool and his national side will be hoping he can replicate his recent performances tonight, especially in Tierney's absence.
8'
Bryan Ruiz has had plenty of the ball during the early moments here, the former Fulham man has looked composed and tidy in possession along with his teammates.
5'
Captain Mulgrew with an effective clearance from the cross in, as Scotland are under some early pressure here.
3'
Early corner here for Costa Rica, cleared away by McBurnie with his dinstinctively low socks as usual! It'll be important he gets the support from the midfield he needs tonight if Scotland are to overcome their opposition.
1'
We're off! Costa Rica get us underway here...
I'm sure all the players are feeling pumped for this game despite the fact it's only a Friendly, especially since the tannoy was booming out some Faithless just before kick-off to get everyone in the mood!
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary coverage of Scotland v Costa Rica at Hampden Park. Team news coming up!
Costa Rica XI: (5-4-1) Navas; Gamboa, Gonzalez, Acosta, Duarte, Oviedo; Colindres, Borges, Guzman, B. Ruiz; Urena. Substitutes: Azofeifa, Briceno, Moreira, Smith, Calvo, Watson, Gutierrez, Segura, Wallace, Tejeda, Y. Ruiz, Mitchell.
Charlie Mulgrew will captain Scotland for the first time tonight, as Alex McLeish makes his return as manager and will be desperate to get off to a winning start!
The teams are heading out as Hampden Stadium awaits kick-off! Stay tuned for constant updates on all the action right here.
Half-time at Hampden. Scotland have struggled as McLeish's experimental side has failed to gel in the first half. Costa Rica's chemistry has been the winning formula so far, they've controlled possession and drained Scotland out of the game. The home side have looked most dangerous down the left with Robertson, combining with Ritchie and McBurnie at times but failing to trouble Navas other than one simple save.
McLeish won't be happy with that performance. He'll be looking for more urgency and dynamism from his side in the second half, he may also look to the bench at half-time or perhaps go for a change of system. We'll find out shortly! Credit to Costa Rica though who have been in cruise control at times during the first half.
Both teams are out and the wait is over for the second half. Scotland have some work to do here...
Full time at Hampden Park is met with a few boos, as McLeish may well have more questions than answers after his first game of his second spell in charge. Scotland have played Costa Rica only twice in their history, losing both games 1-0!
Costa Rica probably just about deserved to win the game on the back of their first half performance, Scotland never managed to test Navas enough to get the equalizer and need to find more sources of attack rather than being totally reliant on Robertson breaking in behind on the left. Ritchie and McBurnie had good games tonight too but ultimately couldn't do enough to please the Scotland fans.
