J. Cummings enters the game and replaces C. McGregor.
Just before the final whistle, Scotland make one more change as Callum McGregor is removed to allow Jason Cummings some time on the pitch.

K. Otigba gets yellow.
A late yellow card is shown to Kenneth Otigba who cynically fouled the Scottish ball carrier to slow down the counter-attack.
90'
The referee has indicated there will be an additional three minutes at the end of the match.
86'
J. McGinn gets yellow.
A heated confrontation between Lovrencsics and McGinn leads to a yellow card for the Scottish central midfielder after he was judged to have pushed his Hungarian counterpart to win possession.
84'
O. McBurnie enters the game and replaces M. Phillips.
Goal scorer Matt Phillips is taken out of the match, with young Barnsley striker Oliver McBurnie getting a run out with five minutes left before additional time.
83'
N. Nikolić enters the game and replaces R. Varga.
Roland Varga is replaced by Nemanja Nikolic in a very attacking switch for Hungary. The manager will be hoping that the striker’s late introduction will be enough to turn the tides for the home side.
82'
C. Paterson enters the game and replaces R. Fraser.
Ryan Fraser who has had a very industrious game on the right flank is removed with eight minutes remaining in favour of Callum Paterson as Scotland look to see out the match and maintain their clean sheet.
77'
D. Böde enters the game and replaces Á. Szalai.
R. Christie enters the game and replaces J. Forrest.
Changes in the offing for both sides, with Alex McLeish switching up his midfield, removing James Forrest in favour of Aberdeen’s Ryan Christie.
Adam Szalai will also be removed as he is on a yellow card. Daniel Bode of Ferencvaros enters the game and will take his place on the pitch he calls home at club level.
75'
As is always the case with international friendlies, the raft of substitutions made in the second period cause the match to become very disjointed. The constant stopping and starting has done Hungary no favours as they push ever forward in hopes of nicking an equaliser in the final 15 minutes.
71'
Adam Szalai has the ball in the Scottish penalty area with only the keeper to beat after pouncing on Mulgrew’s turnover, but the striker can only put his shot into the legs of Allan McGregor who does very well to keep the advantage for the away side.

Laszlo Kleinheisler, who gave away the penalty to Scotland in the first half is removed in favour of Mate Patkai as the substitutions continue for Georges Leekens.
66'
Á. Elek gets yellow.
Elek barges into McGinn who was trying to escape Hungarian pressure with the ball just outside of his own penalty area and receives a yellow card. Hungary have been physically imposing but their recklessness has caused them to go into the referee’s book several times.
62'
JUST WIDE FROM VARGA. The midfielder takes Hungary’s free-kick and tries to bend it into the near post, but the set-piece taker puts too much of a curve on his effort and it drifts wide of McGregor’s goal.
58'
K. Németh enters the game and replaces B. Dzsudzsák.
Hungary captain Balazs Dzudszak is removed in favour of Krisztian Nemeth, with the former receiving some treatment on his leg immediately after making his way to the bench. Hopefully the tricky forward has not picked up a serious injury.
56'
Mulgrew finds some room to have a shot but sends his effort high above Gulacsi’s crossbar. Scotland put some great work into keeping that move alive, and the away side look to have shaken the rust off and are attacking with determination and intent.
49'
C. Mulgrew gets yellow.
Charlie Mulgrew receives a yellow card for a high boot which the referee deems dangerous play.
48'
M. Phillips has scored a goal for Scotland!
Matt Phillips makes it 1-0 for Scotland! Ryan Fraser sends a low cross into the penalty area which takes a slight deflection off of Kenny Otigba. The direction of the pass changes considerably and falls right for Phillips to stab home a volley. Scotland take the lead in Hungary!
46'
Á. Elek enters the game and replaces Á. Pintér.
Á. Szalai gets yellow.
J. Szabó enters the game and replaces S. Hangya.
Adam Szalai is carded almost immediately after going down inside the Scotland penalty area. The Hungarian striker is lobbying for a penalty, but he clearly went down easily and is given a yellow card for a dive.
Georges Leekens makes Hungary’s first substitution, with Adam Pinter off for Akos Elek.
Hungary also choose to make a second change, with Szilveszter Hangya being removed in favour of Janos Szabo.
45'
The referee has indicated there will only be one minute of additional time at the end of the first half.
Scotland start the second half at the Groupama Arena!
42'
C. McGregor gets yellow.
Callum McGregor receives the match's first yellow card for putting in a very strong challenge on striker Adam Szalai. The contest has heated up since the penalty and it looks as if both sides have renewed energy.
40'
Penalty saved by P. Gulácsi!
SAVED BY PETER GULACSI! The captain Charlie Mulgrew steps up to take the shot which is directed low to his right-hand side, but the Hungarian goalkeeper reads the intentions perfectly and makes a great stop with his palm. The score remains 0-0 with four minutes left to play.
It is a well-taken penalty, put perfectly into the bottom corner, but Gulacsi's hand prevented the ball from nestling tidily just inside the goalpost.
39'
PENALTY TO SCOTLAND! Kleinheisler is called for a foul after taking down Ryan Fraser with a body-check in the penalty area. It was a clear and silly error from the holding midfielder, and Scotland now have the chance to take the lead in Budapest!
36'
With just over 10 minutes to go before half-time, neither side has really impressed in front of goal. Most of the play has occurred in the middle of the park, with shots coming at a premium. Hopefully the substitutions in the second half will open up play and lead to more goal-scoring opportunities.
29'
Lovrencsics is furious with the referee for his decision to award Scotland a free-kick which is whipped in poorly and out for a goal kick. Lovrencsics is arguing that he did not make contact in his slide tackle, but the offence was certainly aggressive and deserving of the whistle.
25'
A heroic block from Fiola saves Gulacsi from being forced into stopping a shot after the Hungarian centre back slides in to get a touch on McGinn’s outside-the-box effort. The central midfielder jinked his way past two markers before setting himself to shoot from straight on, but Fiola was alert to the situation.
21'
UNBELIEVABLE STRIKE! Dzsudzsak takes the set-piece with his stronger left foot but slips as soon as his foot makes contact with the ball. Despite the poor footing, the Hungarian captain’s strike goes perfectly towards the top corner, forcing McGregor into a very difficult and unexpected save. It remains 0-0 in Budapest, but he have seen the best chance of the match so far.
19'
Lovrencsics gets possession and charges towards the Scotland penalty area but gets dragged down from behind cynically. The referee fails to produce a card but the free-kick is just outside the 18-yard box in a dangerous position.
17'
Dzudszak gets free in midfield and runs at the Scottish defence before pulling back and looking for options. Scotland who have been very aggressive in their pressing win the ball back courtesy of Armstrong who controls the aerial ball well and immediately sets the away side forward on an attack.
14'
Lovrencsics has wriggled free on the right wing number of occasions but he has not been able to get the ball to Adam Szalai. His positioning has been very intelligent thus far, giving Fraser and Hendry all sorts of problems. If Hungary is to score in the Groupama Arena, that connection could be very important.
11'
Phillips holds the ball up beautifully before slipping through the defenders for Forrest, but the Scottish winger drifted just offside. The linesman was in a perfect spot to make the call, and did so without hesitation.
9'
Kleinheisler is called for a foul after pushing the back of Ryan Fraser and Scotland have a free-kick halfway inside the Hungarian half on the right touchline. The set-piece delivery is a good one to the penalty spot, but Gulacsi claims confidently.
6'
Dzsudzsak takes a dangerous in-swinging corner which McGregor deals with – albeit extremely uncomfortably. The second set-piece is taken but met by a Scottish clearing header before it could into further Hungarian pressure.
3'
Scotland are controlling the tempo early in the match, knocking the ball about in midfield trying to create an opening to exploit. Every forward move seems to be played through the flanks – with McLeish no doubt trying to capitalise on his team’s pace.

Hungary get the match underway!
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of the international friendly between Hungary and Scotland from the home of Ferencvaros TC - the Groupama Arena in Budapest.
With neither side heading to the World Cup in three months’ time, this match is truly a friendly in every sense of the word. This will be the second fixture in charge for both managers – with Georges Leekens and Alex McLeish both tasked with handling the fallout of another missed tournament for both Hungary and Scotland. The host side currently sit 50th place in the international rankings – with Scotland 19 places above in 31st.
Hungary missed out on qualification for Russia after finishing third place in a group featuring Switzerland and reigning European champions Portugal. With the two aforementioned sides dropping only three points each, Hungary was forced to settle for best of the rest, four points ahead of the Faroe Islands, but 14 back of Switzerland.
Scotland also finished third in their group but were a lot closer to second place than their opponents. With England finishing first and Slovakia second on a tie-breaker, the side formerly managed by Gordon Strachan missed out on a play-off place by a single point.
Since their last match of qualification, Hungary fell to a 2-1 defeat away in Luxembourg and a 3-2 loss at home to Kazakhstan, but managed to emerge victorious over Costa Rica who qualified for the World Cup through CONCACAF.
Since a 2-2 draw in Slovenia on the last match-day of group play, Scotland has been defeated twice at home, both to a 1-0 score line against the Netherlands and Costa Rica. Alex McLeish’s second stint in charge of the Scotland international team has started poorly, but with no tournament on the horizon, the manager will have some time to bed in his ideas before the Euro 2020 qualification campaign begins.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, the team news has been confirmed! Let’s begin with the home side.
Hungary substitutes: Denes Dibusz, Adam Kovacsik, Tamas Kadar, Adam Lang, Barnabas Bese, Janos Szabo, Endre Botka, Akos Elek, Zoltan Stieber, Adam Nagy, Mate Patkai, , Krisztian Nemeth, Nemanja Nikolic, Daniel Bode, Roland Ugrai, Marton Eppel.
Hungary Starting XI (4-4-2): Peter Gulacsi; Szilveszter Hangya, Gergo Lovrencsics, Kenny Otigba, Attila Fiola; Roland Varga, Laszlo Kleinheisler, Adam Pinter, Balazs Dzsudzsak; Adam Szalai, Richard Guzmics.
Scotland substitutes: Jordan Archer, Jon McLaughlin, Ryan Christie, Oliver McBurnie, Kevin McDonald, Callum Paterson, Jason Cummings, Kenny McLean, Barry Douglas, Jamie Murphy, Tom Cairney.
Scotland Starting XI (5-4-1): Allan McGregor; Jack Hendry, Charlie Mulgew, Scott McKenna, Ryan Fraser, Andrew Robertson; Stuart Armstrong, John McGinn, Callum McGregor, James Forrest; Matt Phillips.
Coach Georges Leekens makes five changes from the side that lost 3-2 to Kazakhstan on Friday. Szilveszter Hangya will play left back instead of Endre Botka while Gergo Lovrencsics replaces Barnabas Bese, while pushing Attila Fiola out to right full-back position. In midfield, Rolando Varga and Adam Pinter replace Roland Ugrai and Akos Elek respectively. Up front, Leekens continues with an attacking partnership, this time opting to pair Adam Szalai with Richard Guzmics instead of Nemanja Nikolic.
Alex McLeish makes seven changes from the side that lost 1-0 to Costa Rica four days ago. Injuries to Grant Hanley, Matt Ritchie and Scott McTominay have forced the trio to pull out of the squad with Jack Hendry, Stuart Armstrong and John McGinn replacing them. Ryan Fraser, Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Matt Phillips are also given starts today over Callum Paterson, Kevin McDonald, Tom Cairney, and Oliver McBurnie.
HALF-TIME: Hungary 0-0 Scotland.
Hopefully for the neutral the second half provides a little bit more in terms of clear-cut opportunities, as both coaches will make a number of changes to test the full capabilities of their squads. There is still all to play for in the second half of this international friendly.
Captain Balazs Dzsudzsak came closest for the home side after his free-kick was palmed away by the outstretched hands of Allan McGregor who has looked relatively uncomfortable during corners and free-kicks today. Scotland should have equalised from the penalty spot after Ryan Fraser was bowled over by Laszlo Kleinheisler in the Hungarian penalty area, but Charlie Mulgrew’s spot-kick was saved expertly by RB Leipzig keeper Peter Gulacsi.
It has been a first half which has lacked more in overall quality than energy and drive. Scotland are forcing the issue more, controlling the tempo and dominating the midfield, but Hungary have been exceptionally dangerous both on the counter-attack and during set-pieces.
Scotland pressed and harried the ball well, but never looked ruthless in front of Gulacsi’s goal. The Hungarian shot-stopper had a wonderful day, making a number of saves look routine. Despite Hungary’s late attacks, Adam Szalai and company were unable to get the ball past Allan McGregor who made a number of good saves, including one using his legs on the aforementioned Szalai. It’s two defeats in two for new Hungary manager Georges Leekens, but Alex McLeish starts his second stint in charge of Scotland with a loss and a win.
A Matt Phillips goal three minutes after the restart proved to be the only difference between the two sides in what ended up being a hotly-contested fixture despite the game’s lack of meaning. Ryan Fraser’s delivery from the right side was deflected into the path of Phillips to poke home the game winner.
FULL-TIME: Hungary 0-1 Scotland.
That is all from the Groupama Stadium as the match between Hungary and Scotland ends with a victory for the away side. We hope you enjoyed our commentary and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
