81'
Atletico move the ball patiently around the midfield as they look to kill the tempo of the game. Godin tries a long ball through to Gameiro but the Frenchman had wandered offside, allowing the ball to bounce into the feet of Pacheco with no pressure.

CHANCE! Vitolo strikes a powerful effort from outside the box and it is excellently saved by Sivera, who injured his shoulder in the process. It looks like he will be playing no further part in this tie.
58'
Atletico get themselves a corner on the right. It is straight over the head of everyone in the box, with the follow up cross being blocked at the first man.
55'
Atletico probe and probe but the final ball is lacking once more. Koke tries a first-time chipped pass for the run of Correa inside the box but it is easily cut out by Laguardia. Atletico enjoying plenty of the ball in this second half but lack the urgency and pace in attack to really trouble the home defence.
52'

49'
Costa steals possession in the midfield and looks to lead Atletico forward on the counter attack, but a loose pass is straight back to the Alaves defence. All the play is in midfield at the moment.

CHANCE! Costa creates something out of very little as he heads Savic's long pass into space inside the box before shooting low towards goal on the stretch. Too close to Sivera though, who saves it easily. It is the first time Atletico have really got in behind Alaves.
40'

31'
Nothing going for either side at the moment but it has been a really good performance by the home side, just lacking the final product. The home fans are loving it though and are providing plenty of atmosphere.
29'
Good pressure from Alaves once more as Atletico can only get as far as the halfway line before being forced to play the ball all the way back to their goalkeeper.
27'
Excellent play by Alaves as Munir finds space inside the Atletico box. He has a team-mate waiting at the back post but his pass is easily cut out at the front post. Should have done better.
25'
All the play is in midfield at the moment. It is very back and forth with neither side being able to get a steady spell of possession but there is a lack of quality in the final third at the moment. Neither defence is being tested.
22'
Excellent defending by Alaves as the ball is nipped away from Torres in the air and out for a corner kick. Atletico are starting to look a little more penetrating in attack now.

18'

17'
Laguardia gets yellow.

16'
CHANCE! Munir gets in behind the Atletico defence and is one on one with the goalkeeper. He hesitates with his shot and goes down with contact from behind from Hernandez inside the box. The referee waves away his penalty appeals though and Atletico can come away with the ball. That will surely go down as a big chance missed for Alaves there.
13'
Alaves try to work something from a throw in on the right of the box but Ruano's cross can only find a defender.
11'
Atletico being put in a spell of pressure by Alaves but Gabi uses his body well to worm out of trouble and mop up the danger. Alaves have certainly looked the more threatening of the two teams in these opening 10 minutes.
8'
Alaves are pressing quickly when Atletico get into the final third and they are making it really difficult for the away side to find space. With Torres and Costa up front Atletico will lack the pace to dart in behind this back line.
5'
Vrsaljko does well to escape danger in his own box and clear it away from goal. Atletico looking a little shaky at the back though when Alaves come forward at pace.
3'
Atletico enjoying plenty of possession early on here but they are not causing Alaves too many problems so far. It is all in front of the home defence.
1'
Atletico get the game underway, playing in red and white. Alaves are in their home kit of blue and white.
Alaves enjoyed a 4-0 win over Las Palmas last weekend and have lost only one of their last five games, a 2-1 defeat to Girona. The Babazorros are still in with a chance of a top-10 finish this season, with a win this afternoon moving them only two points behind Real Sociedad in tenth.
Defeat to Real Sociedad and a draw against Real Betis have put Atletico's second place position under threat, with city rivals Real Madrid only one point behind them now. Failure to win today would mark the first time since May 2015 that Atleti have failed to win three in a row.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Good afternoon and welcome to our live coverage of today’s LaLiga game between Alaves and Atletico Madrid at the Mendizorroza.
Alaves XI (4-4-2): Antonio Sivera; Alexis Ruano, Victor Laguardia, Guillermo Maripan, Adrian Dieguez, Ruben Sobrino, Tomas Pina, Mubarak Wakaso, Alfonso Pedraza; John Guldetti, Munir El Haddadi.
Diego Simeone’s men also have a Europa League semi-final to consider on Thursday, where they hold an away goal advantage against Arsenal. The Red and Whites are already guaranteed European football next season as they hold 15-point advantage over fifth-placed Real Betis, so their focus will almost surely be looking ahead to Thursday.
Abelardo Fernandez’s side will have to find some way to beat second-placed Atletico Madrid though, which will not be an easy task. The Alaves coach has lost three of his four games against Atletico as manager, last winning in March 2016 while in charge of Sporting.
Alaves substitutes: Fernando Pacheco, Ibai Gomez, Bojan, Daniel Torres, Manu Garcia, Ermedin Demirovic, Martin Aguirregabiria.
Atletico Madrid XI (4-4-2): Axel Werner; Thomas Partey, Stefan Savic, Lucas Hernandez, Sime Vrsaljko; Angel Correa, Gabi, Koke, Vitolo; Fernando Torres, Diego Costa.
Atletico Madrid substitutes: Diego Godin, Kevin Gameiro, Sergi Gonzalez, Roberto Olabe, Arona Sane, Carlos Isaac, Alex Dos Santos.
Alaves make six changes to the side that beat Las Palmas last weekend. Sivera replaces Pacheco in goal, while Laguardia, Maripan and Dieguez replace Ruano, Ely and Duarte in defence. Guldetti and Pedraza come into the midfield in place of Garcia and Gomez.
Only five players retain their starting place from the Atletico side that drew 1-1 with Arsenal, with Diego Simeone rotating his squad with Thursday’s crucial semi-final in mind. Torres and Costa come into the side in place of Griezmann and Gameiro in attack, while Gabi, Vitolo and Savic replace Saul Niguez, Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin. Werner takes his place in goal with Jan Oblak not featuring in the squad at all.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
FULL-TIME ALAVES 0-1 ATLETICO MADRID.
Atletico take all three points in a very tight and tactical affair at the Mendizorroza. It did not look to be Atletico's day when Torres' penalty was saved at the left post, but they were given a second opportunity from the spot moments later when Wakaso handballed in the area. Gameiro slotted the ball down the middle with the goalkeeper going the wrong way and secured what turned out to be the winning goal for Atletico. Alaves fired in cross after cross as they searched for an equaliser but they could not find any way through a packed Atletico defence. Correa's late red card was the only blip on an otherwise important three points as Diego Simeone's men look to secure second place.
HALF-TIME: ALAVES 0-0 ATLETICO MADRID.
All square at the break and it has been a tame first half for the most part. Neither side have offered much in attack with chances very few and far between. Partey saw his free kick skim narrowly over the crossbar and Munir had a penalty appeal waved away at the other end, but both sides have generally lacked quality in the final third. All to play for in the second half though.
The two sides are coming back out onto the pitch, ahead of the start of the second half.
