A desperate late push from Bayern, but there's no way through for them! Gnabry tries to force a shot on goal, but Blind is wise to it, getting a block in, before De Ligt blasts it up the pitch. Anywhere will do for Ajax, and that might do it!
90' +3
N. Süle enters the game and replaces M. Hummels.
Hummels will have to give way here, as Sule takes his place for the final minute - though there should be another 90 seconds added on to the four minutes as a result of that stoppage.
90' +2
OFF THE BAR! Free-kick for Ajax as Dolberg's clever hold-up play results in him being fouled by a combination of Boateng and Martinez. Schone takes the resulting free-kick from nearly 30 yards and beats Neuer, but smacks his effort off the bar! Unbelievable! And now play comes to a halt as Hummels goes down following a clash of heads, with the rebound there for the taking.
90'
The fourth official raises his board to indicate there will be a minimum of four minutes added on at the end of this match. Still time for a twist in the tale...
88'
S. Gnabry gets yellow.
Tempers boiling over! An absolutely exquisite piece of defending from De Ligt sees him snuff out the run of Gnabry and then impressively start his side forward, before being caught by a late challenge from the substitute. Blind takes exception and comes over to his aid, with Onana needing to calm him down. Gnabry sees yellow for the challenge.
86'
JUST OVER! Kimmich, who has hardly been afforded the opportunity to venture forward tonight, makes his first real contribution in attack as he gets into an excellent position before clipping a cross in for Muller, who heads narrowly over from eight yards!
85'
K. Dolberg enters the game and replaces David Neres.
Perhaps sensing a bit of an opportunity to claim maximum points here, Ten Hag brings on Dolberg for Ajax. The striker will of course play up top, replacing Neres, with Tadic moving out wide.
82'
Clever play from Martinez, who shows impressive skill on the ball to evade a couple of challenges, before wisely going down under minimal contact to win a free-kick in a very threatening area on the edge of the penalty area. James delivers the resulting set-piece, but Ajax deal with the threat accordingly.
80'
OFFSIDE! That looked very threatening for Ajax as Tadic latched onto a ball over the top and then quickly switched play for Ziyech in acres of space on the right, but Tadic was just offside when the original pass was played into him so Bayern are let off the hook.
Minute
Description
78'
J. Rodríguez gets yellow.
A bit of frustration setting in for Bayern, and James specifically, who commits a foul and then drop-kicks the ball away in frustration. He will be booked as a result.
77'
TERRIFIC GOALKEEPING! Onana reacts quite superbly there to parry James' first-time effort from 12 yards at full-stretch, as he just gets fingertips to the effort to push it beyond the far post!
75'
D. de Wit enters the game and replaces D. van de Beek.
A first swap for Ajax and it comes in midfield as Van de Beek, who will surely lose sleep after that latest missed chance, is replaced by youth product De Wit, who makes his debut in the competition proper.
74'
S. Gnabry enters the game and replaces F. Ribéry.
A second change for Bayern sees Gnabry come on for Ribery. Two new wingers on for the hosts now as both Ribery and Robben have been withdrawn.
72'
AJAX MISS A SITTER! That looked sure to hit the back of the net as Tadic's clever delivery is flicked on by Blind into the path of Van de Beek, who has the goal at his mercy but volleys wide! Wow! That comes just moments after Neuer had to be sharp to save a touch from his own player off the line, following some lovely skill from Ziyech.
70'
Some respite for the Ajax defence as they do well to pass out from the back and get forward in transition, but their decision making in the final third lets them down as the attack fizzles out.
68'
As expected, pressure is starting to build from Bayern, as Ajax are being made to drop deeper in defence with the hosts committing more bodies forward. The visitors are looking alert in defence, doing well to keep Bayern to the periphery, but they can't afford to sit back for the final 20 minutes.
66'
It's gut-check time for both these sides. For as well as Ajax have played and as even as this match has been, they have to be expecting to come under some real pressure over the final 25 minutes. How will they handle it? For Bayern, they've struggled to get out of first gear - can they turn it on just like that?
62'
J. Rodríguez enters the game and replaces A. Robben.
The first change of the night is made by Bayern, as James comes on to take the place of Robben.
60'
SO CLOSE! A stunning bit of skill in attack from Ajax as Tadic slips through Neres, but the makeshift striker just lacks composure and that hesitation brings the chance to an end! Pressure stays on though, and Tadic's teasing delivery in towards the far post is just headed wide by Ziyech, who may have been better off leaving that for an unmarked Van de Beek running in behind him...
58'
A quick free-kick is taken by Kimmich, clipping a cross in for Hummels, the only alert player on the pitch! He runs in to meet it and collides hard with Onana, who sends him crashing to ground! Hummels clearly got to that ball first, and Bayern appeal for a penalty, but he was well offside so there's nothing given.
56'
Thiago wins a free-kick in a threatening area as Schone blocks his effort with a handball, but the subsequent effort from Lewandowski is fired straight into the wall. Back come Ajax and Neuer scuffs a clearance straight to De Ligt, who tries to go for goal from half with the keeper well off his line, but just misses the target! Great idea there from the teenager.
54'
WHO'S THERE?! An important response from Bayern, who have been quite clearly second best since the restart. Alaba drives down the left flank and pulls it back across the penalty area, but it gets by everyone despite a crowd of bodies in the penalty area.
52'
MORE AJAX PRESSURE! Wonderfully worked by the visitors on the front foot, with Tadic and Ziyech featuring prominently in the build-up, but Bayern are just let off the hook as Schone is called for a foul having shoved an opponent on the edge of the penalty area.
51'
D. Blind gets yellow.
Blind catches Muller late with a challenge near the halfway line, and that will see the defender, turned midfielder tonight, into the book.
50'
ANOTHER HUGE CHANCE! Bayern are feeling generous to start this second half, and Ajax certainly aren't lacking in belief! Tagliafico this time gets sight of goal from inside the penalty area, but his effort is stopped smartly by Neuer at full-stretch, with the keeper then just getting to the rebound first, with two Ajax players keen to pounce.
48'
MASSIVE CHANCE FOR AJAX! A brilliant opportunity for the visitors goes begging! Ziyech lifts a ball over the top for Neres to chase, and the winger in turn clips a tidy delivery in for Tadic, who is left alone in the centre of the penalty area, but lacks composure as he snatches at the chance, bouncing a tame first-time effort straight at Neuer!
46'
Back underway in the second half! No changes to tell you about at the break.
45'
HALF-TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 1-1 AJAX.
44'
SENSATIONAL HIT! What a strike that was by Ziyech, from a little under 30 yards! He puts everything he has behind that one, driving a venomous effort towards goal, but it's just a bit too central as Neuer is able to parry over the bar! The ensuing corner is met by De Ligt, but he can't quite generate the power needed from his header.
42'
Momentum has swung a bit in favour of Bayern again over the last 10 minutes or so, but they're not looking all that threatening. They're being made to settle for a number of corners and hopeful balls into the area, which Ajax are appearing more than assured in dealing with.
40'
Javi Martínez gets yellow.
Ajax break threateningly following a Bayern corner, and a sumptuous bit of skill from Ziyech results in a dangerous foul from Martinez, which prompts a gathering of angry Ajax players who come to their team-mate's aid. The referee initially looked as though he wasn't going to award further discipline, but after a bit of contemplation he shows the midfielder a yellow card.
36'
Ribery wasn't involved in Bayern's goal, but he's certainly been their liveliest player in attack. He prances through on the end of a delightful back-heel from Lewandowski, but a strong block from Mazraoui snuffs out the initial threat, before a Blind interception brings the attack to an end.
34'
Put generic kits on these two teams, and take away the club names, and you wouldn't be able to spot any real talent discrepancy between them - at least not one as big as the perceived gap between Bayern and Ajax. It's been incredibly even, with both sides enjoying prominent spells, and very little between them at the moment.
32'
NOT FAR AWAY! A good challenge from Van de Beek breaks up a threatening Bayern move, but it catches Wober by surprise as he gifts possession back to Bayern. Martinez tries to catch them with a first-time strike from 25 yards, but he just misses at the far post! Onana would have had that covered, though, it seems.
30'
And now a response from Ajax, who aren't backing down in the slightest. They win a free-kick on the left in an advanced position, following an exciting bit of interplay, but the resulting delivery is dealt with by the hosts.
28'
Finally Bayern reply with a bit of pressure of their own, through a terrific passage of play from Ribery down the left. Onana does even better, however, as he gets off his line and just manages to clear Ribery's low cross in to the near post, which Lewandowski was dreaming of getting on the end of!
24'
Ajax attacking with all sorts of confidence right now as Bayern are really stuck on their heels. It's been one-way traffic since about the 15th minute, with Ajax surprisingly dominating. That goal will have gone a long way to helping their confidence, and now their imagination will have to be running a bit wild...
22'
N. Mazraoui has scored a goal for Ajax! Assist by D. Tadić.
Tadic, who has enjoyed a terrific start to life in Amsterdam, provides the assist.
AJAX HAVE PULLED IT LEVEL! 1-1! Well it was looking bleak for them following that early Bayern goal, but they've responded really well over the last 10 minutes and have their just reward! Mazraoui bursts forward from right-back, playing a delightful one-two with Tadic, before guiding a delicious finish beyond the reach of Neuer with his weaker left foot!
21'
Ribery looks to break quickly following an Ajax corner and Van de Beek takes one for the team, tugging on the shirt of the Frenchman to prevent a counter. It's a professional foul, but also a clear yellow card.
20'
D. van de Beek gets yellow.
Bayern are still looking a bit vulnerable as Ajax continue to spend an increasing amount of time on the ball, and are showing much more of a willingness to get forward. Neuer is forced into his first save of the night on the end of a testing shot from Ziyech, who bounced an effort toward the near post from 25 yards. Much better from the visitors.
16'
Continued possession for Ajax as they remain in the ascendancy, and it results in their first sight of goal. Tagliafico, the left-back who scored a double in the match against AEK Athens, is sent through on the overlap down the left flank, and picks out a lovely pull-back for Tadic, but the Serbian skies his first-time effort!
14'
A bit better here from the visitors as they enjoy some time on the ball, temporarily relieving the pressure on their goal. Usually a fast-paced side, Ajax are lacking the same tempo in possession thus far, and it's really plaguing their ability to push on into attack.
12'
Ajax have some very capable attacking players in their side, but they've shown such little desire to get forward in these opening stages. This young side is understandably a bit timid, but they really need to show a bit more confidence when in possession.
10'
All the questions being asked by Bayern right now, and Lewandowski's first real threat comes following a delicious first touch, but De Ligt shows excellent awareness and strength to fend off the striker and win his side a goal kick. That's some play from the teenager, who is captaining the side tonight in his first ever Champions League group match.
6'
Conceding an early goal is really the last thing Ajax could afford, as it changes their whole approach now. Instead of sitting back and play for a draw, looking for chances on the break, they now have to be a bit more brave, which could spell disaster defensively.
4'
M. Hummels has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by A. Robben.
THAT DIDN'T TAKE LONG! Bayern lead 1-0! Some poor defending from Ajax as no one marks the run of Hummels towards the back post, allowing the defender to latch onto Robben's perfect cross and head home from close range!
Robben picked out that delivery perfectly, making for an easy finish for Hummels.
3'
A lively opening in Munich, as both sides threaten from the off. Ziyech gets an early chance on the break as he sprints forward with just one defender to beat, but can't negotiate his way around Hummels. Back the other way come Bayern and Ribery smacks a volley into the side netting from a difficult angle, before Robben forces Onana into a smart save with a vintage left-footed strike.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Bayern in red as they get the match underway, with Ajax in black!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of this Champions League match as Bayern Munich welcome Ajax to Allianz Arena!
Bayern supporters have come to demand perfection, or close to it, from their side, and now that things aren’t going according to script there’s some unrest among fans and media. A week ago this would have looked a straightforward win, but suddenly they’re looking a bit ripe for the picking.
Ajax began the group stage with three points of their own, cruising past AEK Athens in Amsterdam, but historically the Dutch outfit have struggled in Europe away from home – and their confidence has to be a bit shaken just over a week removed from a devastating 3-0 loss away to PSV.
That PSV defeat is the only one Ajax have suffered this season, however, having already played a whopping 15 competitive matches as a result of their Champions League qualification – winning once and drawing two on their travels in qualifying, suggesting improvement to their European away form.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
BAYERN MUNICH (4-3-3): Manuel Neuer; Joshua Kimmich, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, David Alaba; Thomas Muller, Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcantara; Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Robert Lewandowski.
AJAX (4-3-3): Andre Onana; Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Maximilian Wober, Nico Tagliafico; Daley Blind, Lasse Schone, Donny van de Beek; Hakim Ziyech, David Neres, Dusan Tadic.
SUBS: Sven Ulreich, Sandro Wagner, Niklas Sule, James Rodriguez, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, Renato Sanches.
Kovac makes two changes from Bayern's matchday one victory away to Benfica, as Thiago and Muller are restored in midfield, at the expense of Sanches and James who drop to the bench. Lewandowski continues to lead the line, flanked by Ribery and former PSV attacker Robben, who will surely want to put one past his old rivals.
One step forward, two steps back for Ajax, as the boost gained from the return of De Ligt in defence is mitigated by the absence of Frenkie de Jong - the young starlet missing out through injury. Wober is a surprise inclusion at the back, as Blind pushes up into midfield to provide extra defensive cover. Van de Beek starts his first Champions League match for the club, replacing Eiting, while Tadic will play in a false nine.
Life under Niko Kovac got off to a sensational start for Bayern as they rattled off seven successive wins across all competitions, until a draw and defeat in the league last week suddenly has them wavering as their Champions League campaign resumes tonight.
Bayern got off to a terrific start when Mats Hummels opened the score inside of four minutes, but a timid-looking Ajax side quickly turned things around. The visitors dug deep to find their confidence and really took the game to the hosts, before being justly rewarded with their equaliser - a first goal for the club from Noussair Mazraoui. It's been splitting hairs ever since.
Through 45 minutes both sides have three shots on target, they've virtually split possession, have completed right around the same amount of passes and each have a goal to their name. Many would have expected Bayern to win comfortably here, but that's been far from the case. It's been wonderfully even and remains brilliantly poised in advance of the second half.
Ajax return home on matchday three to take on Benfica, while Bayern head south to Greece for a date with AEK Athens. That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
More frustration for Niko Kovac and Bayern as they squander an early lead to drop points at home to a feisty Ajax side. Mats Hummels put the hosts ahead early, but their lead lasted less than 20 minutes as Noussair Mazraoui equalised for the Amsterdam outfit, who were unlucky not to go on and win the match - Dusan Tadic, Donny van de Beek and Lasse Schone all missing big chances in the second half.
