Ronaldo peels away from his marker at the back post but there is a little too much on the cross and he cannot keep his header down. Three of the four added-on minutes have now been played in the Spanish capital.
90' +1
POOR ATTEMPT! Lemar has a couple of tired defenders to run at but he instead opts to take on the shot from 25 yards, sending the ball high and wide. Atletico could easily snatch a third in added time.
90'
OBLAK MAKES THE SAVE! Atletico's defenders perhaps expected Ronaldo to shoot from the free-kick, despite the angle being against him, but he instead tees it up for Bernardeschi. The substitute's shot is well hit but far too central, meaning a straightforward save for Oblak.
89'
A. Griezmann gets yellow.
Griezmann lunges in on Alex Sandro on the edge of the penalty box and is shown a yellow card. He claims that he got the ball but he also got plenty of the man, giving Ronaldo a chance to swing in a free-kick from a dangerous position.
87'
At least Ronaldo can say he made an impact on this game, though not quite in the way he imagined. Godin will claim the second goal, of course, but it definitely hit the Juventus forward on its way back across goal.
85'
Juventus look rattled - they could do with full-time. Atletico deserved their opener and they did not take their foot off the gas in the lead up to that second goal. Simeone will surely now sit back on this two-goal advantage.
84'
João Cancelo enters the game and replaces B. Matuidi.
Cancelo is introduced for Matuidi in the game's sixth and final substitution. Juventus have six minutes to net an away goal.
83'
D. Godín has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid!
GOOOOOOAAAALLLL!!! ATLETICO 2-0 JUVENTUS! Atleti's other Uruguayan centre-half, Godin, doubles the home side's advantage! It comes from another set-piece delivery, this time taken by Griezmann, with the loose ball being guided into the back of the net from an acute angle by Godin via a deflection off Ronaldo.
82'
Atletico do not look to be done just yet. Having scored a deserved opener, they win a couple of corners that they cannot make the most of. Juventus are holding on in the Spanish capital.
Minute
Description
80'
F. Bernardeschi enters the game and replaces P. Dybala.
Juventus, who are looking rattled after conceding, bring on Bernardeschi for Dybala in their second change.
78'
J. Giménez has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid!
GOOOAAALLL!!! ATLETICO 1-0 JUVENTUS! Gimenez blasts the ball into the back of the net to score a goal that will surely stand this time. Morata powers a header goalwards from the corner, it comes off Mandzukic and Gimenez is there to sweep the loose ball home from seven yards. Incredible scenes at the Wanda Metropolitano!
77'
Atletico are the side asking more of the questions as we fast approach the final 10 minutes. Juventus appear to be set out to claim a stalemate.
75'
With a quarter of an hour left to play Atletico will be wondering just how they are not in front. Juve may have seen more of the ball but the hosts have created the better openings. Allegri will probably take full-time if offered to him right now.
73'
E. Can enters the game and replaces M. Pjanić.
Allegri, having seen his side survive yet another scare, brings on Can for Pjanic in central midfield.
69'
You have to wonder whether Atletico's big chance to take a lead to the Allianz Stadium has come and gone. Juve do not tend to give away too many big opportunities in the knockout rounds and Costa in particular will be kicking himself. The visitors have had 60 per cent of the ball so far but have not created enough.
67'
Á. Correa enters the game and replaces Koke.
Simeone makes his third and final change. Koke, who is not quite fully fit, is withdrawn and replaced by Correa.
66'
Juventus look very composed on the ball, as you would expect, but they have not really done enough to warrant a goal so far. Atletico, by comparison, have had a penalty decision overturned, hit the crossbar and wasted a fantastic opportunity from a one-on-one.
64'
Morata gets his head down and carries the ball forward, but the attack breaks down on the edge of the box after he releases the ball. Two changes made by Simeone so far but opposite number Allegri has yet to blink.
62'
Antoine Griezmann has scored or assisted a goal in each of his six Champions League games at the Wanda Metropolitano (6 goals, 3 assists). This season, he has been directly involved in six of Atletico's nine Champions League goals (67%), with four goals and two assists - the highest ratio among the 16 teams left in the competition.
61'
T. Lemar enters the game and replaces T. Partey.
Thomas, who has been sitting on a yellow card since the end of the first half, is replaced by Lemar.
60'
Ronaldo bursts away from his man but Godin gets across brilliantly to block the Juve forward's shot. The ball goes behind for a corner and Atletico once again defend it well.
58'
Álvaro Morata enters the game and replaces Diego Costa.
Morata is brought on and Costa is the player to make way. If only the departing Spain striker had kept his cool from that one-on-one!
57'
Juventus arguably edged the first 50 minutes of the match but Atletico really should be in front following those chances for Costa and Griezmann. Simeone has seen enough - Morata is being readied to come on for the remaining half an hour or so.
55'
Alex Sandro gets yellow.
Alex Sandro is cautioned for a coming together with Gimenez and is the latest player to be ruled out of the second leg. Will either side have any players left when they face off again in three weeks' time?!
54'
Atletico want a penalty from the resulting corner as the ball appeared to hit Ronaldo on the hand. Not according to the referee - play resumes.
53'
That really was a terrible miss form Costa. Szczesny slipped after racing off his line but the Spain striker could not keep his cool. Will Juve use that as a wake-up call?
50'
Juventus have started this second half well. Ronaldo, who never needs a second invitation to shoot, pulls the trigger from 35 yards with a terrible attempt by his standards - by anyone's standards, in fact. It is well wide of the target.
49'
Atletico look a little panicked at the back for the first time today. Ronaldo's cross towards the edge of the six-yard box is headed as far as Pjanic, who miscues his volley 18 yards out when given time to shoot.
46'
Atletico, beaten only once at this ground in European competition, get us back underway!
45' +4
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 0-0 JUVENTUS
45' +3
T. Partey gets yellow.
Thomas, like team-mate Costa earlier in the half, is shown a yellow card that will rule him out of the second leg. It was a bad challenge from the midfielder, catching Dybala late with a needless challenge.
45' +1
Two minutes have been added on at the end of the first half. Simeone has seen his side pushed back over the past five minutes but Godin, Gimenez & Co. look fairly comfortable. The big question at this point is which side will this scoreline suit the most if it stays the same after 90 minutes?
44'
Juanfran sticks with his man and stops the cross from coming into the box at the expense of a corner. Pjanic takes and Saul gets some distance on his defensive header.
43'
This first half is petering out a little as neither side has been able to create much of anything for a while. Bentancur barges into Koke and a free-kick is awarded to Atletico, ending Juve's latest spell on the ball.
41'
Ronaldo goes to the ground clutching his leg following contact from Saul and Juanfran. The latter definitely caught the Portugal forward, but the home fans show little sympathy towards the ex-Real Madrid star and he is soon back to his feet.
39'
The ball is taken off Ronaldo's boot before he can shoot just outside the box. Following the theme of the game, it is Juve's turn to enjoy a spell on the ball, but Atletico are just not letting them get in behind.
38'
I think this is a game that is best described as "cagey". Neither team wants to make a mistake and it could well be that one goal decides the two-legged tie. Both managers will be pleased enough with the opening 38 minutes.
36'
Griezmann shoots and the ball takes a deflection to earn Atletico another corner. Koke swings the set-piece towards the front post and Rodrigo flicks it on, but he makes too much contact with his header and it flies straight out of play.
34'
SHOT! Juventus put together a number of passes, each one greeted by jeers from the home fans. It is very patient from the visitors and they work a shooting chance as Chiellini picks out Dybala, whose weak effort is collected down low by Oblak. It looked to be heading wide, anyway.
32'
Juventus have managed just one shot on target in the opening 32 minutes - Ronaldo's free-kick early on. This has been a defensive masterclass from both sides, but there is still a long way to go in the two-legged tie.
30'
Ronaldo is picked out in the opposition half but Atletico shut him out on the left wing. The hosts have defended superbly in this first half and they have also been the better side in an attacking sense.
29'
GOOD ATTEMPT FROM GRIEZMANN! After seeing his side denied a penalty by VAR - rightly, it must be said - a frustrated Griezmann blasts the free-kick towards the top corner. The ball moves in the air and Szczesny is happy to flap it to safety.
25'
There was always a risk that these two sides would cancel each other out, and that has proved to be the case so far. Ronaldo and Mandzukic are interchanging in the forward line but it is not quite working at the moment.
23'
OVER! Some good, patient play from Juve culminates in Alex Sandro crossing the ball towards Mandzukic, who is unable to keep his header down under pressure from Godin.
22'
Saul heads the ball down towards Koke but Juve just about clear their lines. This is Atletico's best spell of the match, stretching the visitors' back-line to ask some serious questions of them for the first time today.
20'
It is Juve's turn to knock the ball around now. The tempo of the game has dropped a little over the past few minutes, but it remains a gripping contest. Mandzukic, formerly of Atletico, nearly spins in behind but he is thwarted on the edge of the box.
18'
Atletico are starting to enjoy a sustained spell on the ball. However, Dybala and Ronaldo are both nearly played in behind on the counter for Juventus, but some good defending prevents them from charging through.
16'
VENOMOUS STRIKE! Thomas makes good connection with his shot from 25 yards, but it is met down low by Szczesny in the Juve goal. Like Oblak from Ronaldo's free-kick a little earlier, that is a save the goalkeeper was always expected to make.
15'
Juventus are standing firm at the back to frustrate their opponents. Griezmann, as ever, is showing some good movement off the ball, but he has yet to be played in behind the visitors' defence.
11'
German referee Felix Zwayer has already been very busy today. Costa was shown a yellow card a few minutes ago and both sides have been unhappy with a decision or two from the man in the middle.
9'
FIRST SAVE! Ronaldo finally takes the 30-yard free-kick, which he thumps down the middle. Oblak was always expected to make the save and he does just that by helping it over the crossbar with a strong hand.
8'
Diego Costa gets yellow.
Gimenez blocks the path of Ronaldo and a free-kick is awarded to Juventus. Ronaldo runs up to take the set-piece but there is a delay as Costa charges out of the wall, earning a yellow card that will rule him out of the return fixture.
7'
Griezmann attempts to make something happen by getting past a couple of players and chipping the ball into the box, but he gets too much contact on the ball and Costa is unable to get to it.
4'
Thomas curls the corner straight out of play before it swings back in. Hugely disappointing!
3'
Poor from Costa, who has space to run into and options either side. Rather than playing what was a pretty simple pass to Griezmann on his right, though, the ball is overhit and Atletico are fortunate to get a corner from it.
2'
A little over 60 seconds in and already there has been a flashpoint. Atletico's players claim that Matuidi caught the boot of Griezmann when attempting to win a chest-high ball, but the referee does not feel it is worthy of a penalty.

Juventus, two-time winners of the European Cup, get us underway at the Wanda Metropolitano!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Champions League last-16 first leg between Atletico Madrid and Juventus at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Atletico have lost momentum domestically speaking after tasting defeat in two of their last three league outings, but they returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Rayo Vallecano on Saturday and are back up to second place in LaLiga. Focus now turns to the European stage, with Diego Simeone's men booking their place in this first knockout round thanks to four wins and a draw from their six Group A outings. Atleti are unbeaten in their last 12 home games in the Champions League knockout stages and have conceded only one goal in their last 10 matches at home in the knockout phase.
Juventus have finished runners-up twice in the last five years and, with Cristiano Ronaldo now in their ranks, will be looking to add a third European Cup to their collection. Massimiliano Allegri's side are on course to maintain their stranglehold on the domestic game in Italy as they are 13 points clear at the top of Serie A, though they did crash out of the Coppa Italia to Atalanta last month. Juve have won four of their last five away games in the knockout stages of the Champions League and last suffered defeat in their last-16 second leg against Bayern Munich in March 2016, so they will fancy their chances of progression.
ATLETICO XI (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Juanfran, Jose Gimenez, Diego Godin (c); Filipe Luis; Saul Niguez, Thomas Partey, Rodrigo, Koke; Antonine Griezmann, Diego Costa.
Atletico subs: Stefan Savic, Alvaro Morata, Angel Correa, Santiago Arias, Antonio Adan, Thomas Lemar, Nikola Kalinic.
JUVENTUS XI (4-3-3): Wojciech Szczesny; Mattia De Sciglio, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini (c), Alex Sandro; Rodrigo Bentancur, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi; Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The two teams are now out on the field at the Wanda Metropolitano and we are moments away from kick-off.
Both managers will take positives from the first half but more is needed from the likes of Ronaldo and Griezmann if we are to find a breakthrough. Simeone and Allegri have plenty of options on the bench but it is unlikely that we will see any changes for the start of the second half.
Simeone's side will now be considered the strong favourites to progress through to the quarter-finals, with the return leg scheduled for March 12. Atletico have three LaLiga games to play before then, starting with Sunday's visit of Villarreal. Juventus, meanwhile, have four days to pick themselves up ahead of their Serie A trip to Bologna.
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye!
