Sheffield United deal with the free-kick and one last Everton effort is blocked. That's it! Goodison Park half-heartedly boos as the final whistle goes.
90' +4
Pickford punts the ball upfield. Richarlison gets fouled to the left of the box about 25 yards out. Everton have one last chance to make this look respectable.
90' +2
Everton come again. Richarlison cuts in from the left and has his dipping effort caught by Henderson. He's been Everton's only positive today, even if his end product has been lacking.
90'
Richarlison's ball from the left is headed away. Everton work the ball to Walcott on the right and he plops a cross-shot right into the arms of Henderson. Walcott's Everton career has never really taken off. Four added minutes left.
89'
Everton are still gamely pushing for a goal but it feels academic at this point. Digne's ball into the box briefly looks like it might lead to a chance but Henderson is quick to come out and smother it.
87'
Digne attempts to thread a ball through for Tosun but it rolls harmlessly out of play. Everton just haven't made enough clear-cut chances today.
83'
B. Osborn enters the game and replaces O. McBurnie.
Sheffield United make a defensive substitution. McBurnie off. Osborn, the left-sided midfielder, on.
81'
Jagielka blocks Walcott's shot from the right side of the box and concedes a corner. United clear. It barely matters if Everton score now. An inquest seems likely after this result.
79'
L. Mousset has scored a goal for Sheffield United! Assist by J. Lundstram.
GOAL! 2-0 SHEFFIELD UNITED! This game is done. Lundstram plays a simple ball down the line for Mousset. The France forward beats Digne and Keane for pace and casually rolls the ball past the stranded Pickford into the net. Boos rain down from the Everton fans.
That was a decent pass from Lundstram, but it was far too easy for Mousset to latch onto it. Everton's defenders won't want to watch that one back at the training ground.
77'
Everton continue to probe as Goodison Park gets increasingly anxious. Baldock whips the ball into the penalty area and Delph concedes the corner. Everton clear it away.
Minute
Description
73'
Mina and Walcott fail to keep Stevens at bay and Basham heads way over from the centre of the box. That's Sheffield United's first shot of the game. Kean stays down, looking to be in some pain after a fair hit from O'Connell. Everton's players aren't happy. Kean gets up soon enough.
71'
T. Walcott enters the game and replaces S. Coleman.
Here it is - and it's Coleman who's hooked. Walcott on. It looks like Everton will go three at the back.
70'
Stevens cuts into the box from the left and is muscled out by Keane and Coleman. It's never a penalty. That Everton change will happen now.
69'
Everton are preparing Walcott to come on. Richarlison switches the play left to Digne, whose cross is cleared. United get a free-kick in midfield when Keane prevents a United counter.
67'
That round of substitutions has relieved the pressure on United somewhat. Digne's aimless cross is picked up comfortably by Henderson, who's wearing a cap - he's now standing on the sunny side of Goodison Park.
65'
Sigurdsson releases Richarlison, who powers through the middle but is barged over by Basham just before he enters the box. No foul. Coleman pops the ball towards Delph, who can't keep the ball in play.
64'
P. Jagielka enters the game and replaces O. Norwood.
Well, this is interesting. Norwood goes off and Jagielka - an Everton servant for 11 seasons - comes on. He's warmly received by the Everton fans.
62'
L. Mousset enters the game and replaces C. Robinson.
Sheffield United make their first change. Robinson off. Mousset replaces him up front.
Digne takes the corner short, plays a one-two with Iwobi, and crosses low from the goalline. United get it only half away and Sigurdsson blasts over from distance. An Everton goal feels like it's coming soon.
61'
Coleman drifts inside and lays off to Sigurdsson, who whips a cross in from the right. O'Connell punts it out for a throw. Coleman receives the throw and it's another Everton corner from the right - their 11th now.
59'
Fleck loses out to Mina who lofts the ball forward for Tosun! Briefly it looks like Tosun is free to run on goal, but it turns out the offside flag is up. That was close for Sheffield United.
55'
C. Tosun enters the game and replaces Bernard.
A. Iwobi enters the game and replaces M. Schneiderlin.
Silva decides to make two early changes. First, Schneiderlin off and Iwobi on.
Secondly, Bernard is replaced by Tosun, who'll presumably go up front with Kean.
53'
Sheffield United get a second corner, given away by Keane. Keane tries to gee his defence up. This time Everton manage to get it away but only as far as Stevens, who is forced to put the ball out for an Everton throw.
51'
Sigurdsson floats in another cross but United's defence are there to head it away to safety. That's what their three centre-backs are for.
49'
Everton have started this half much like they did the first - on the front foot but looking mentally frail. The longer they go without equalising, the more unlikely it feels like it will get. They need to score fast.
47'
Sigurdsson curls in a cross from the right that bounces free at the far post. Bernard goes down under pressure from Baldock in the box! Is that a penalty? The ref waves away the appeals. No need for VAR apparently.
45' +3
They can't. Digne steps up and hits the wall. The half-time whistle goes and a smattering of boos rings out around Goodison Park.
HALF-TIME: EVERTON 0-1 SHEFFIELD UNITED
45' +2
Richarlison teases Stevens on the corner of United's box, jinking inside and tempting the wing-back to bring him down. Everton have a promising free-kick. Can they go in level at half-time?
45'
There will be two added minutes to this first half. Coleman dinks the ball down the line for Sigurdsson but Norwood is there to cut it out. The Sheffield United fans are having fun in the away end.
Everton get the second half underway. Can they recover from their first half setback?
40'
Y. Mina is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
Richarlison is forced to block Stevens' ball from the left, giving United their first corner of the game. What can they make of this?
GOAL! 1-0 UNITED! Pickford completely misses Norwood's whipped corner and it bounces off Mina at the far post and rolls into the net! That is completely against the run of this game so far.
38'
Everton get another corner down their right. Digne curls the ball in once, then twice, but both times Sheffield United stay firm. There's a cry of foul play as Bernard tries again and Basham climbs over the back of Kean, but it's just a goal-kick.
37'
Richarlison powers down Everton's right flank but booms a cross across to precisely no one in the middle. At least he's trying. United take the throw and Fleck works the ball to Robinson down the left, whose cross lands straight to Pickford.
35'
United cleverly work the ball down their right with Baldock cutting inside and Lundstram staying wide. Lundstram looks primed to cross in but the offside flag goes up.
33'
Bernard skips inside past Basham and Norwood and wins Everton their fifth corner of the game. Again, Digne's delivery is lacking and McBurnie nods it away. Kean tries to chest the ball down at the far post but can't control it enough to get a shot off.
30'
United clear the initial corner but are still in the defensive third. Bernard aims for Mina at the far post, who fluffs his header. Sigurdsson whips the ball back in and Richarlison's ambitious overhead kick goes out for a goal-kick.
28'
Everton take the risky strategy of knocking the ball around at the back while United's attackers press. After a minute or two, they manage to work their way out with Richarlison driving through the middle. Digne whips in a vicious cross from the left and it's put out for a corner.
26'
United achieve little with the free-kick. Shortly after, Lundstram lofts the ball down the line for Robinson to chase but Digne is there to sweep up.
24'
Basham, one of United's famous overlapping centre-backs, wins a free-kick down the right as he's fouled by Digne.
22'
Kean makes a yard for himself on the edge of the box to get on the end of Sigurdsson's cross but his header nods wide of the left-hand post. Sheffield United have had no attacking threat whatsoever so far.
21'
Bernard gets yellow.
D. Henderson gets yellow.
G. Baldock gets yellow.
Baldock and Bernard race one another for a ball near United's corner flag. Bernard gets there ahead of Baldock and Baldock unsportingly pushes him into the advertising hoarding. The pair face off and the ref steps in to book Baldock.
Bernard also gets booked for his part in that spat.
Henderson also sees yellow for unnecessarily getting involved. Can we get back to the football please?
16'
O. Norwood gets yellow.
Norwood is booked after sliding into the back of Delph. Fair enough.
14'
Lundstram is penalised for handball. It looks like United will have to be patient for most of this game.
12'
From the throw, Sigurdsson has a shot outside the box but it's blocked. Everton get a corner which Digne takes. United defend the corner and Basham and Stevens combine to prevent Kean wriggling back into the box. The Italian doesn't even get a free-kick. The home fans aren't happy with that decision.
10'
Richarlison picks up the ball from Bernard and runs straight towards United's defence, firing off a curling right-footed shot that rolls out for a throw on the left. Everton's winger has looked bright in these opening minutes.
8'
Everton try a few direct balls behind the United defence but the visitors repel them each time. With United defending deep, Everton are finding it hard to create much at the moment.
7'
Sheffield United get their first decent spell of possession in the game. Baldock lofts in a cross from the right but it's headed away by Keane.
5'
Richarlison dances his way through the heart of midfield. Basham tries to clear but only hands the ball straight to the Brazilian. Richarlison makes his way to the left of the box and lets fly but it's over the bar.
3'
Everton win their first corner of the game after O'Connell puts the ball out of play. Sigurdsson floats the ball in and Everton threaten but can't get a shot away.
1'
And we're off!
Sheffield United start well by winning a throw down their right. Baldock takes the throw but Lundstram can't latch on it. Everton goal-kick.
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of this Premier League match between Everton and Sheffield United at Goodison Park.
Everton fans can be excused for wanting more consistency from their side. Hyped up as top four contenders back in August, Marco Silva's men have started the season imperious at home and woeful away, as they lost 3-1 in Bournemouth last time out.
Handily for Everton, their visitors for this match are the newly promoted Sheffield United. So far the Blades have garnered five points from their first five games, but have yet to win on the road. How Chris Wilder would love his side to grab their first away win here.
EVERTON (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford; Seamus Coleman(c), Michael Keane, Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne; Morgan Schneiderlin, Fabian Delph; Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Bernard; Moise Kean.
SUBS: Cenk Tosun, Mason Holgate, Tom Davies, Maarten Stekelenburg, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alex Iwobi, Theo Walcott.
SHEFFIELD UNITED (3-5-2): Dean Henderson; Chris Basham, John Egan, Jack O'Connell; George Baldock, John Lundstram, Oliver Norwood (c), John Fleck, Enda Stevens; Oliver McBurnie, Callum Robinson.
SUBS: Ben Osborn, Kieron Freeman, Ravel Morrison, Phil Jagielka, Luke Freeman, Lys Mousset, Simon Moore.
The two sides are ready on a sunny day at Goodison Park. Everton are wearing their home kit of blue shirts and white shorts, while Sheffield United are in their away kit of white shirts and black shorts.
Sheffield United's win lifts them to 8th in this still early Premier League table on a healthy eight points. Everton slump down to 14th, having lost three of their last four matches. Their only win in that run was against Wolves - arguably the only bigger underachievers so far.
Sheffield United's win will buoy their spirits as Liverpool visit them at Bramall Lane next week, while Silva will have to hope his side put in an improved showing against... Man City, who just tonked Watford 8-0. Gulp. That's all for now. Goodbye!
