90' +4
Samu Castillejo goes off after a red card!
Another red card is shown, this time to Castillejo who appears to be making comments towards the referee from the Milan bench. The match official has already sent Saponara off for something similar, and he has no hesitations to do it again.
90' +3
Penalty saved by Pepe Reina!
REINA MAKES THE STOP! INCREDIBLE SCENES AT THE LUIGI FERRARIS! Reina makes amends for his earlier challenge by expertly stopping the Schone penalty, pushing it well away from danger! Milan remain in the lead!
Schone stole the show with his earlier free-kick, but he unable to double his tally from the spot, sending his well-taken penalty to the left, only to see it stopped by the palm of Reina!
90' +2
The referee is in the middle of a V.A.R check as the fourth official indicates an additional five minutes at the end of the match. It looks a slightly soft challenge, but the goalkeeper does catch the heels of Kouame. Both sets of players wait in agony!
88'

84'

Paqueta is shown a yellow card for a foul on Romero just outside the Milan penalty area.
83'
Milan look desperate to see out the match, though Genoa seem much more capable now that both sides are down to 10 men each. It’ll be a nervy last eight minutes!
81'

Bonaventura is replaced by Conti, which is done to fill the void left in defence by the expelled Calabria.
Minute
Description
79'
D. Calabria gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
CALABRIA IS SENT OFF! The Milan right-back mishits a pass, which allows Kouame to get forward on a counter-attack. Instinctively, Calabria pulls the striker back, but he had already been booked, which leaves the referee no choice but to send him off! Milan are now down to 10 men as well!
75'
Rafael Leao’s pace and intent have been match-altering as the new signing won Milan the go-ahead penalty after just 12 minutes on the pitch. He’s looked much more capable of linking play with the midfield, whereas Piatek seemed a bit too stationary.
73'
A. Favilli enters the game and replaces A. Pinamonti.
Genoa make a change in attack as they continue to chase a result. Pinamonti is removed in favour of Favilli.
71'
Kouame manages to get the ball into Milan’s half before charging into the penalty area, marked by Hernandez. His only option is a square pass to Pinamonti, who chooses to shoot on goal at the first time of asking - sending his shot well-above the crossbar.
69'
Genoa are forced to open up and come forward, with Ghiglione and Kouame’s right-hand side their preferred avenue of attack. It’s very apparent that the hosts are at a disadvantage numerically, as they are always a few options short of a really dangerous attack.
67'
L. Schöne gets yellow.
It's Schone's turn to be booked after pulling at the shirt of Paqueta in order to hold him back.
64'
L. Lerager gets yellow.
Lerager slides into a crunching tackle on Paqueta and catches him, forcing the referee to award the Genoa player a yellow card.
62'
L. Biglia gets yellow.
Biglia mistimes his attempt to win the ball and catches the shin of a Genoa midfielder - earning himself a yellow card for the infringement.
61'
Zapata gets on the end of a Genoa corner and pushes it towards goal, though the effort is high and looping. Though not great contact, the header does provide some difficulty for Reina, who manages to do just enough to smother it.
59'
An uninspiring first half has given way to an absolutely incredible second in which Milan have completed the comeback to lead 2-1. Genoa have also lost their captain to injury, a man on the pitch due to a red card, and lack all their options on the bench after creative midfielder Saponara was sent off from the bench at the end of the first. What an incredible finish we’ll have at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris!
57'
Penalty goal scored by F. Kessié for AC Milan!
KESSIE MAKES NO MISTAKE FROM THE SPOT! The review was certainly dragged out, and Kessie was made to wait even longer as the referee made sure to have a word with the goalkeeper about where his feet are placed, but the Milan midfielder sends his strike perfectly into the bottom-right corner! 2-1 Milan!
56'
D. Biraschi goes off after a red card!
THE PENALTY IS AWARDED BUT THERE’S MORE DRAMA! The referee comes away from the review and points towards the penalty spot because of the handball on Biraschi, but he is also shown a yellow card for stopping a goal-scoring opportunity! The man who replaced Criscito in the first half is sent off!
51'
T. Hernández has scored a goal for AC Milan! Assist by Lucas Paquetá.
Paqueta is rightly awarded the assist after wonderfully quick thinking which played Hernandez through on goal.
HERNANDEZ MAKES IT 1-1! Bonaventura gets dragged to the turf in the Genoa half, and Paqueta has the presence of mind to take the free-kick quickly to Hernandez, who made his way up the pitch in support. The left-back cuts into the penalty area and manages to lift it past Radu despite an extremely narrow angle at the near post!
50'
Calabria floats a ball to the back post for Duarte, who is marked tightly. The ball somehow drops for the defender, but he can’t angle a shot through the mass of bodies that separate him from Radu’s goal.
48'
Bonaventura gets past Romero and chops the ball onto his right before sending a low cross towards goal for Rafael Leao. Radu is aware of the danger though and extends to get there first.
46'
Lucas Paquetá enters the game and replaces H. Çalhanoğlu.
Rafael Leão enters the game and replaces K. Piątek.
Milan make two changes in attack, with Calhanoglu off for Paqueta.
The second switch is a change of strikers as Rafael Leao is in for Piatek.
Milan get the second half underway from the kick-off!
45' +4
HALF-TIME: GENOA 1-0 MILAN.
45' +3
R. Saponara goes off after a red card!
Saponara is shown a red card after yelling at the referee from the substitute’s bench following a suspected head injury sustained by a Genoa player. Saponara - the former Milan midfielder - will not be eligible to come on as a substitute; which could prove an issue should Milan find themselves back in the game.
45'
The fourth official indicates an additional two minutes at the end of the half for stoppages.
43'
D. Calabria gets yellow.
Calabria is shown a yellow card for a slightly reckless dive into Radovanovic while attempting to win the ball.
41'
L. Schöne has scored a goal for Genoa!
SCHONE MAKES IT 1-0 GENOA! A free-kick from an extremely long way out is no problem for the former Ajax dead-ball specialist as he drives his effort towards goal - taking all of the spin off of the ball. Reina drops to one knee to parry it, but the trajectory of the ball takes it right past the goalkeeper and into the net!
37'
Ghiglione wires a low, driven shot towards goal after controlling the ball outside Milan’s penalty area. It was a swerving hit that could have been dangerous, but Reina did well to see away the danger.
35'
It’s been a lacklustre opening 30 minutes as both sides try desperately not to lose the match and sink further into poor form. Kouame has looked lively for Genoa when making runs, but his end-product has been poor. Piatek for Milan has been absolutely invisible, with service for him nonexistent.
33'
Suso sweeps a first-time curling left-foot shot from the edge of the penalty area, only to see it go straight into the arms of Radu.
31'
Kouame shifts the ball right to Ghiglione, whose first-time cross into the penalty area is immediately blocked by Hernandez.
25'
Suso delivers the free-kick up and over the wall well - but Radu gets to the right spot on his line to punch it away.
23'
C. Zapata gets yellow.
Genoa go into a number of sliding challenges on the edge of their own penalty area as Hernandez and Piatek come forward to build an attack. The referee pulls back play and shows Zapata a yellow for his tackle - which gives Milan a free-kick in a wonderful position to strike at goal.
21'
Genoa attempt another short-corner routine, looking to change the angle but Milan are alert to the danger as Suso comes across at the edge of the box to block it out for a throw.
19'
Hernandez drives into midfield and goes down under a heavy challenge from Ghiglione, who gives away a free-kick.
17'
Schone swings the free-kick into the penalty area from deep on the right, but Romagnoli is there to get a head onto it.
15'
Hernandez upends Ghiglione and gives a free-kick away near the right touchline.
13'
Both sides are now without an influential figure in the starting XI, in what is a must-win match for both Genoa and Milan. The hosts have started much the better, as Milan have yet to register a shot.
11'
D. Biraschi enters the game and replaces D. Criscito.
Confirmation of the enforced change as Biraschi comes on to replace Criscito.
5'
Bad news just prior to kick-off for Giampaolo and Milan, as Donnarumma pulled out of the starting XI at the last moment due to lingering stomach issues. Reina is a capable replacement, though Donnarumma is the undisputed number one in the squad.
3'
Pajac sends a lovely ball into the penalty area for Pinamonti, who gets between Milan’s centre-backs, only to miscue his effort.

Genoa get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the Serie A fixture between Genoa and Milan!
Genoa sit in 19th position after six games, managing just a single victory; 2-1 over Fiorentina. They haven’t managed to score in two consecutive matches, though things could certainly be worse for Italy’s oldest club. With a win today, Genoa could go as high as 10th overnight, though Sampdoria’s earlier loss means Aurelio Andreazzoli’s side are safe from bottom ahead of the international break.
New year, same problems for Milan who find themselves only a single point above Genoa, and tied with five other clubs on six points after six matches - including SPAL who occupy a relegation place. Milan are on a run of three straight defeats after two 1-0 wins in a row. The derby loss to Inter seemed to derail any hopes of a positive run of results ahead of the international break, though a win could get Milan into the top half of the table ahead of Sunday’s fixtures.
GENOA SUBS: Francesco Cassata, Goran Pandev, Peter Ankersen, Edoardo Goldaniga, Riccardo Saponara, Jawad El Yamiq, Antonio Sanabria, Federico Marchetti, Davide Biraschi, Jandrei, Andrea Favilli, Filip Jagiello.
GENOA XI (3-1-4-2): Ionut Radu; Cristian Romero, Cristian Zapata, Domenico Criscito; Ivan Radovanovic; Paolo Ghliglione, Lasse Schone, Lukas Lerager, Marko Pajac; Christian Kouame, Andrea Pinamonti.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off. let's take a look at the team news - starting with Genoa!
MILAN SUBS: Ante Rebic, Antonio Donnarumma, Pepe Reina, Lucas Paqueta, Rafael Leao, Andrea Conti, Rade Krunic, Matteo Gabbia, Fabio Borini, Ismael Bennacer, Ricardo Rodriguez, Samu Castillejo.
MILAN XI (4-3-3): Pepe Reina; Davide Calabria, Leo Duarte, Alessio Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Franck Kessie, Lucas Biglia, Hakan Calhanoglu; Suso, Krzysztof Piatek, Giacomo Bonaventura.
Giampaolo certainly has the tools necessary to earn a result on the bench, but with an XI that’s so devoid of confidence, it will take an inspirational team-talk to get them back on track mentally. Rafael Leao did score in Milan’s last match, while Paqueta and Rebic can also provide some thrust. As for Genoa, a win over the Rossoneri would be a fantastic result, though it will be difficult without their captain.
That concludes our commentary of the Serie A fixture between Genoa and Milan! We hope you enjoyed it!
Milan are in action again after the international break on October 20 when they host Lecce, while Genoa are playing away to Parma the same day.
