Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Sheffield United at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City were on the receiving end of a 3-2 comeback by Wolves last time out to lose further ground in the Premier League title race. Pep Guardiola's men were on course for a 2-0 victory, despite being reduced to 10 men after Ederson was dismissed in the early stages of the contest. However, the Midlands outfit rallied to stun the reigning champions. Guardiola conceded that the title appears to be heading towards Liverpool, but they cannot give up just yet.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-2-3-1): Claudio Bravo; Kyle Walker, Eric Garcia, Fernandinho, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Rodri, Bernardo Silva; Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling; Sergio Aguero.
MANCHESTER CITY SUBS: Ilkay Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus, Benjamin Mendy, Joao Cancelo, Nicolas Otamendi, Scott Carson, Phil Foden.
SHEFFIELD UNITED (3-5-2): Dean Henderson; Chris Basham, John Egan, Jack O'Connell; George Baldock, Muhamed Besic, Oliver Norwood, John Fleck, Enda Stevens; Callum Robinson, Lys Mousset.
SHEFFIELD UNITED SUBS: Luke Freeman, Oliver McBurnie, Billy Sharp, Phil Jagielka, David McGoldrick, Michael Verrips, Ben Osborn.
Pep Guardiola will be concerned about his side's performance in the first half. They were lacklustre in the final third and were unable to test Dean Henderson in the United goal. More is required from the home side in the final third in the second half.
Sheffield United continued their solid run of form this month with a 1-1 draw against Watford last time out, although their run of three wins on the bounce did come to an end at Vicarage Road. The Blades are still enjoying an outstanding season and a win today could take them into fifth place. Talk of a victory over City at the start of the term would have been considered nonsense, but the form of Chris Wilder's men has made anything possible tonight.
Manchester City are next in action against Everton at home on New Year's Day, while Sheffield United play Liverpool at Anfield on January 2.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
