Well it’s certainly against the run of play, but Everton have managed to get themselves back into the match thanks to an awful kicking error from the Manchester City goalkeeper. He’s been unbothered for large stretches of the match - looking good when he’s been called upon - but he’s put his side under a lot of pressure after that mistake.
71'
Richarlison has scored a goal for Everton!
EVERTON ARE BACK IN THE MATCH! 2-1! It’s woefully poor from Bravo, who attempts to clear the ball from inside his penalty area, miskicking it and gifting it right back to Kean. The substitute slaloms into the penalty area and shifts it to Calvert-Lewin, whose low cross to the far post is turned in by Richarlison!
69'

CITY DOUBLE THEIR ADVANTAGE! It’s a typical passing move as Foden finds Mahrez in a central position, and the winger slips a pass through to his left for Jesus. Holgate is unable to get back into position in time as the striker fires his shot into the near corner!
Mahrez had a difficult first half, but his assist for Man City's second will give do his confidence some good.
57'
Mahrez and Mina get into a bit of a shoving match as they chase down a loose ball going out for an Everton goal-kick, but the centre-back outmuscles his competitor and wins Pickford the set-piece.
53'
City are on the attack again down the left as Mendy finds the feet of Foden inside the penalty area. The young midfielder flicks it over his head to the centre of the penalty area, but Davies hurries back to make an interception and clear the danger.
51'
Gabriel Jesus has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by İ. Gündoğan.
Gundogan's assist is a good one, as he split two Everton defenders with one incisive pass.
MANCHESTER CITY TAKE THE LEAD! Gundogan leads Jesus with a pass into the penalty area, but the striker adds his own flair - turning Holgate inside-out before working enough room to put a curling shot into the top-right corner! 1-0!
50'
Holgate gets his head in the way of Mahrez's cross from the right. Jesus looked to have wriggled free of his man, but the defending at the outset of the cross was enough to temporarily clear the danger.
48'
Everton have managed just one shot on Bravo's goal this match: Coleman's close-range effort. The Manchester City goalkeeper has been a complete bystander thanks to, above all else, the midfield, who are limiting Everton's exposure to the ball.
46'
Manchester City restart the match from the kick-off!
45' +2
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 0-0 EVERTON.
45'

Mahrez again can’t make it count as Mendy’s superb cross from the left falls for the right-winger, but he is unable to steer it goalwards at the first attempt, and Digne nips in for a clearance during his second attempt.
39'
Everton hit a long ball down the left-hand side for Digne to chase, but Cancelo beats him to the ball and does fantastically well to prevent it from going out for a corner while keeping possession.
35'
De Bruyne puts a pass through the legs of Sidibe for Mendy, who immediately sends it back inside for Foden. The midfielder drives to the left of the penalty area before taking an acute-angle shot at Pickford - which the goalkeeper saves comfortably.

22'
Manchester City have altered their shape in response to Ancelotti's earlier move, with Guardiola reshaping his XI into a back three. Garcia and Rodrigo are either side of Fernandinho in defence, with Mendy and Cancelo as wing-backs.
16'
City didn’t start the match particularly well, but the goal - offside or not - has clearly given them confidence. Everton are being made to chase as the ball moves from left to right and back again, searching for another opening to exploit.
14'
Everton are lucky to escape conceding an early goal, though the left foot of Mahrez was clearly offside upon review. The visitors have looked relatively organised in defence, but the Cancelo build-up will concern Ancelotti; as it was a fairly simple passing move that beat the left side of Everton’s defence.
7'
Mendy is sent forward to get on the end of an incisive Foden throughball, but his low cross into the penalty area is a half-second late for Jesus, who can’t quite find a connection.

Everton get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the Premier League fixture between Manchester City and Everton!
It has been a difficult holiday fixture list for Manchester City, whose 3-2 loss to Wolves was made right two days later with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United. A return to winning ways barely helps Pep Guardiola in his side’s chase of Liverpool, who remain 14 points clear of third-place City with a game in-hand. A home victory over Everton would put the incumbent champions one point behind Leicester City in second, and close the gap at the top; at least until Jurgen Klopp’s men take to the pitch tomorrow.
After an eight-year spell out of the Premier League, Carlo Ancelotti’s return has been a positive one, sparking Everton into two-consecutive victories for the first time since March and April of last year. Despite a poor start under Marco Silva, the Toffees are up to 10th place, though a win could propel them above Crystal Palace and into ninth - and just three points off of a Europa League spot.
With 10 minutes remaining before kick-off, let's look at the team news, starting with the hosts!
MANCHESTER CITY SUBS: Bernardo Silva, Angelino, Scott Carson, Sergio Aguero, Kyle Walker, David Silva, Raheem Sterling.
MANCHESTER CITY XI (4-2-3-1): Claudio Bravo; Joao Cancelo, Eric Garcia, Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy; Rodrigo, Ilkay Gundogan; Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez; Gabriel Jesus.
EVERTON SUBS: Cenk Tosun, Leighton Baines, Michael Keane, Theo Walcott, Maarten Stekelenburg, Anthony Gordon, Moise Kean.
EVERTON XI (3-4-1-2): Jordan Pickford; Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate; Djibril Sidibe, Tom Davies, Fabian Delph, Lucas Digne; Gylfi Sigurdsson; Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison.
Everton contributed little to the overall flow of the match, as they sat back and allowed Manchester City to come onto them for the most part. Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have been disjointed and isolated, though it can’t be denied that a point at the Etihad is a good result for Ancelotti. With Kean and Walcott on the bench, however, perhaps a late introduction of pace could turn the tides. For City, they have a wealth of options on the bench, with both Bernardo and David Silva, as well as Sterling and Aguero just waiting for their chance to alter the match.
That concludes our commentary of the Premier League fixture between Manchester City and Everton! We hope you enjoyed it!
Manchester City will feature again on Saturday when they host Port Vale in the FA Cup. Everton play Liverpool in the same competition on Sunday.
