ABSOLUTELY VITAL TOUCH FROM OSPINA! Ramos rises above Sanchez to get on the end of a corner, but Ospina is quick to react, knocking it over the bar! There's no telling how crucial that was from the Arsenal keeper!
90' +1
F. Fabra enters the game and replaces F. Díaz.
Frank Fabra replaces the injured Diaz.
Minute
Description
90'
Colombia are going to be forced into their final change here as Diaz goes down injured for the second time in as many minutes, gesturing to the touchline straight away to get a substitute ready. In the meantime, the board goes up to indicate three minutes of stoppage time.
88'
The tempo slows again as the two sides grow a bit timid with any goal now surely enough to send the scorer's side through to the semi-final. Peru push a few bodies forward and their entire coaching staff is up in the technical area screaming at their players to slow it down.
86'
STAT: Colombia have lost more games against Peru in the history of this competition (seven) than against any other team.
85'
WONDERFUL TACKLE! Diaz makes a superb challenge on Benavente atop the area to cut out a dangerous looking break! He had to time that perfectly and did just that! Another opportunity wasted as the tempo really picks up heading into the final five minutes!
83'
Colombia have upped the intensity level over the last five minutes as they search for the goal that would eliminate the need for penalties. They're keeping Peru hemmed deep in their end, but still haven't been able to produce the required quality with their deliveries into the area. Is there to be a sting in the tale?
81'
C. Benavente enters the game and replaces A. Polo.
Cristian Benavente, the Charleroi attacker and Real Madrid academy product, is on to make his first appearance of the tournament, replacing Polo.
80'
S. Pérez enters the game and replaces D. Torres.
Sebastian Perez, who started each of the first two matches in this tournament for Colombia, is back on here at the expense of Torres.
79'
THERE'S A CHANCE! A ball over the top springs Bacca behind the defence, but he takes his eye off the ball to see where Gallese is, and he winds up failing to make contact with his attempted volley as the Peru keeper collects to snuff out the danger!
77'
R. Ruidíaz enters the game and replaces É. Flores.
Raul Ruidiaz, the controversial hero against Brazil, is on for Peru for the final stages of this match. He's no stranger to late dramatics off the bench, and we'll see if he has a bit more magic left in his boots (or hands) tonight! Flores comes off to make room.
76'
D. Moreno enters the game and replaces E. Cardona.
Pekerman is the first coach to go to the bench, and it's Cardona who is replaced, bringing an end to a frustrating night for him. Tijuana forward Dayro Moreno replaces him.
74'
STAT: Peru have the worst difference between shots attempted (23) and conceded (37) amongst the teams in the quarter finals.
72'
STRAIGHT INTO THE WALL! Another massive letdown, this one at the other end. There's been a number of opportunities for both sides tonight from set-pieces, but the deliveries have been surprisingly poor. There's been nothing for the likes of Bacca or Guerrero to feast on inside the area.
70'
F. Díaz gets yellow.
Route one football from Peru puts Colombia under pressure at the back, following a nicely cushioned header from Guerrero to pick out Vilchez. The midfielder is taken to ground by a missed challenge from Diaz, right atop the area, which sees the full-back into the book and awards Peru a free-kick in a very threatening position.
69'
Bacca is still down following a collision with Gallese stemming from the offside call. He took a knee to the midriff and just seemed to get the wind knocked out of him. He should be fine to continue.
68'
The Copa America Centenario has treated us to some incredible matches, spoiling its followers up to this point, but this certainly hasn't been one of them. Bacca thinks he's clean through on goal following a giveaway by Rodriguez, but of course, there's the offside flag to end any hopes of excitement.
66'
C. Zapata gets yellow.
Guerrero lures Zapata into a naive foul, and there's the yellow card again! It's getting put to use here in the final 30 minutes, with the centre-half the first Colombian player to be put into the book.
64'
Yet another poor delivery, this one from Cardona, sees the set-piece opportunity come to nothing for Los Cafeteros. Jose Pekerman can't be happy with what he's seen thus far from his side on the front foot.
63'
R. Tapia gets yellow.
WE HAVE A YELLOW CARD SIGHTING! The referee hasn't misplaced it after all! Tapia recognises he's beaten for pace on the flank, and cynically drags James to ground, prompting the referee to take action.
62'
STAT: Peru have reached the quarter finals of the Copa America on eight occasions, progressing to the semi-finals three times, including the last two editions in 2011 and 2015.
60'
Peru are showing a bit more of a desire to push forward in search of an opener, but the final ball has been seriously scarce. The lack of ingenuity they've showed in the final third is rather worrisome, though they're not under any pressure at the back either, in fairness.
58'
The trend continues! Guerrero makes a strong run forward and has options to either side, but hesitation kills the attack in the end as he doesn't dish it off and Colombia snuff it out. Seconds later Sanchez takes a ball off the face, and we have another injury stoppage. This is becoming rather tedious.
56'
This match continues to be seriously bereft of any attacking quality. Neither side has shown a willingness or ability to take control, with the game certainly up for grabs at this point. But the ball continues to remain predominately in the midfield third as these goalkeepers are having a shockingly easy go at it.
54'
Given the current scoreline, it's worth noting that any quarter-final match which ends level after 90 minutes will not have extra-time. These last-eight matches will head straight to penalties if they end in a tie. Meanwhile, another collision between Tapia and Bacca sees the Peru midfielder stay down - he's been battered and bruised tonight.
52'
STAT: Five of the last seven meetings between these two sides in the Copa America have ended as a draw.
50'
Back come Colombia, winning yet another free-kick in an advanced position, but once again the delivery from James is sent straight at Gallese! These simply have to be better.
49'
OFFSIDE! Peru have spent a lot of time on the back foot in this match, but the opportunities for them to break have been there, they just haven't been able to pick out the right passes to take advantage. A clever counter sends Polo forward in space, but Guerrero isn't able to hold his run as the ball is playing through, making for an easy decision for the linesman.
47'
Bodies crowd in the centre in anticipation of the delivery from James, but the Real Madrid attacker bends his free-kick straight into the waiting arms of Gallese. That's a bit of a letdown for Colombia.
46'
Here we go again!
In keeping with the current pace, Peru commit a foul just 11 seconds into the second half, awarding a free-kick in a dangerous position on the right, level with the top of the penalty area.
45' +2
HALF-TIME: PERU 0-0 COLOMBIA.
45'
There will be two minutes added on at the end of this first half.
43'
What makes Peru so great defensively is everyone buys into the system. Each and every one of these players is carrying their weight, picking up their assignments and tracking the necessary runs off the ball. It's going to take something special for Colombia to find a breakthrough - they have to stay patient and slowly break Peru's will.
41'
Peru haven't missed a beat in defence. Bacca has had little to no joy up top as he's being pushed around by this Peru back-four, who continue to impose themselves physically. There's absolutely no space to be found and frustration is starting to build in attack for Colombia.
39'
The tempo has been inconsistent at best in this first half, but in fairness it's had little chance to flow with the ridiculously high foul count. These players are going to need to get the ice packs ready following the final whistle because they're going to be hurting tomorrow.
37'
Carnage! Diaz and Tapia come together, with the Colombia defender guilty of the foul on this occasion, but both players stay down injured. Seven players from each team have been whistled for a foul in this first half, some more than one, but still no yellow cards shown. There's been an inordinate amount of injury delays as the referee fails to take charge in this passionate affair between two nations hungry for success.
35'
STAT: Peru have recorded the lowest average possession amongst the eight teams who’ve reached the quarter finals of this Copa America (42.8%).
33'
Cueva's delivery is easily dealt with by Colombia, who break quickly the other way. James is picked out in space on the left, and has team-mates with him on the counter, but some outstanding defensive tracking from Vilchez sees the midfielder keep pace with the Real Madrid attacker and knock him off the ball with a fair, physical challenge.
31'
Peru are enjoying a prominent spell in possession, finally starting to assert themselves in the final third. Polo and Corzo combine well on the right to win the Incas their first corner of the match, but they're going to have to wait to take this as Ospina goes down in need of treatment... who knows what brought this about!
29'
This continues to be a very physical and hotly contested match, but the referee has yet to produce a card. His leniency has set a dangerous precedent, as the tackles continue to come flying in at a rapid rate. He has to get control of this match before someone gets hurt. Meanwhile, Torres is back on the pitch for Colombia, so it thankfully wasn't anything serious in the end.
27'
Torres has to be escorted off on a stretcher, with his head buried in his hands. This doesn't look good for the midfielder, as play resumes without him.
25'
The referee has missed one here! Rodriguez comes flying in to try and block an shot, but Torres arrives first. The defender catches him on the follow-through and Torres goes down in a lot of pain! That was a nasty looking collision. There was no intent, but the result is what the referee should be looking at here. That's a clear foul atop the area that's gone unpunished.
23'
STAT: Colombia have reached the quarter finals in eight of their nine participations in the Copa (they only missed out in 2007), however, they haven’t made it to the semi-finals since 2004.
21'
HE WAS ALREADY CELEBRATING! James with a sensational run and strike, riding out a challenge en route to the top of the area. He bends a remarkable effort beyond Gallese, but it smacks off the inside of the post and stays out! From the second that left his foot he thought he had a goal!
19'
Patricio Loustau is the referee, and the reason he's a familiar name to Peru fans is because he had to be escorted out of the stadium following a qualifying match between which the Incas lost to Uruguay in September 2013. He made a few controversial decisions that Peru fans didn't agree with, and they weren't afraid to show their displeasure.
17'
The referee, who is no stranger to Peru fans, needs to take control of this match. Emotions are running high as the tackles continue to come flying in. Peru commit their 10th foul in less than 20 minutes, but still there's been no card shown and Sanchez takes exception as a result, getting right into the face of Cueva as tempers start to boil over.
15'
BLOCKED! Excellent interplay down the right-hand side from Colombia as they find some space out wide. An inviting ball is pulled back into the danger area, but Bacca and James get their signals crossed as both players leave it for the other! It comes to Torres atop the box, but his strike is blocked fearlessly by Rodriguez.
13'
Colombia are taking a much more direct approach on the ball than Brazil did, however, so we'll see how that plays into the result. When they do lose possession, they assert themselves high up the pitch and it doesn't take them long to get it back. Can they keep this same work rate up through the entirety of the 90 minutes?
11'
Peru are so disciplined off the ball, keeping such a tight shape and limiting space between their banks. Colombia are starting to spend a lot more time on the ball, but they've created precious little. You can see why Brazil grew so frustrated trying to break this side down - it's not easy.
9'
STAT: Peru and Colombia have met 15 times so far in the Copa America – Peru lead by seven wins to two.
7'
There's been some very hard challenges put in thus far, with Tapia and Guerrero falling victim to the latest two within seconds of one another after the referee played advantage. The midfielder stays down for a while, and he's only just returned from injury, so it's certainly something to keep an eye on going forward.
5'
After Peru started on the ascendency, it's Colombia who are forward asking the questions as we hit the five-minute mark. There's been an excellent tempo to start this match, but that doesn't figure to continue for long given the stout defensive record of both these sides.
3'
SPECTACULAR EFFORT! Peru have Bacca completely closed down as the striker takes a pass atop the area. They ride him down towards the touchline, but somehow Bacca manages to get it out of his feet and send a venomous strike at goal from an incredibly tight angle, which Gallese has to react quickly to knock behind! The linesman says it crossed the line before the keeper got a touch, however, so it's awarded as a goal-kick.
1'
AND WE'RE OFF! Peru in their all red kits get us underway, attacking left to right, with Colombia in all white. This should be fun!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as Peru and Colombia vie for a spot in the semi-finals!
Peru, while not exactly a surprise-package, shocked the tournament when they beat Brazil in controversial fashion on Sunday to finish atop Group B. While they have largely struggled in South American World Cup qualifying, Los Incas have found their niche at the Copa America, reaching the semi-finals in back-to-back appearances (2011, 2015). They will attempt to make it three in a row tonight as they look to build off successive third-place finishes.
Colombia named a completely changed XI in their final group match, and it cost them a first-place finish. This is their third consecutive appearance in the Copa America quarter-finals, and fifth in the last six editions, but they haven’t reached the last-four since 2004 – a hump they will aim to get over tonight. It will be far from straightforward against their stubborn opposition, a Peru side who got the upper hand in their last quarter-final meeting in 2011.
SUBS: Mina, Celis, Martinez, R. Zapata, Perez, Aguilar, Medina, D. Moreno, Fabra, Roa, M. Moreno, Bonilla.
Ricardo Gareca makes just the one change from the victory over Brazil, with young Feyenoord midfielder Renato Tapia replacing Adan Balbin in midfield. Universitario winger Andy Polo, who got his first start of the group stage in that last match, keeps his place in the XI after an impressive showing, with Alejandro Hohberg remaining on the bench. Paolo Guerrero continues to lead the lines for Los Incas, while the back-four also remains untouched.
After naming an identical XI in their first two matches, Jose Pekerman named a completely different starting line-up in their last group fixture in an attempt to rest his regulars. Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez has managed to keep his place in the team, despite being left out of the USA and Paraguay games, partnering Daniel Torres tonight at the expense of Sebastian Perez. Leading the line is Carlos Bacca, flanked by the fearsome trio of Juan Cuadrado, James Rodriguez and Edwin Cardona.
The players are making their way out of the tunnel in front of more than 82,000 fans on this incredible and memorable night at MetLife Stadium! It's an absolutely brilliant atmosphere and the weather has more than cooperated ahead of what promises to be a remarkable night of football!
There's been 19 fouls through the first half, which is about as accurate an assessment as there is for this match as we head into the break scoreless. James Rodriguez came close to a breakthrough after 21 minutes, striking the woodwork with an excellent effort from range, but that's as close as either side would come to breaking the deadlock at the end of an otherwise stale opening 45 minutes at MetLife Stadium.
Well to those of you who have stuck through this rather uneventful match at MetLife, you're about to be treated to some excitement after all!
How's your luck? Tension is high in the stadium as we await the first spot-kick. There will be a hero and a villain tonight... we're about to find out who fills the honorable and dubious roles in just a moment!
CLINICAL FROM JAMES! The Real Madrid attacker keeps his nerve and gives Colombia the early lead in the shootout!
RUIDIAZ CONTINUES TO SCORE! He smashes a penalty into the ceiling of the net and Peru are on level terms.
COMPOSED FROM THE YOUNGSTER! Tapia blasts one beyond Ospina and we're tied 2-2 after two.
AS CALM AS YOU'D LIKE! Cuadrado sends Gallese the wrong way, rolling a penalty the opposite direction to restore their lead.
MORENO ROLLS IT DOWN THE MIDDLE! Cheeky from the sub, as all five takers have scored in thus far!
PEREZ CONVERTS! The second substitute to score for Colombia in this shootout! He opts for placement, not power, and now all the pressure shifts to Peru who have to score with their next shot...
HE'S MISSED IT! Trauco tries the same thing as Moreno, going straight down the middle, but Ospina drags his foot and manages to keep it out!
CUEVA SKIES IT AND COLOMBIA ARE THROUGH TO THE SEMI-FINALS!
FULL-TIME: PERU 0-0 COLOMBIA (2-4 PENS).
Cueva is inconsolable as his team-mates are quick to get across and comfort him. The man who taunted Colombia on social media during the week winds up being the man who sends them through! It's as bitter as irony can be!
These two nations were left battered and bruised after a very physical 90 minutes in which chances were scarce, but in the end Colombia's quality shines through as they progress to their first semi-final at the Copa America since 2004 where they will face the winner of Mexico and Chile.
That's all for our live coverage from MetLife Stadium, thanks for following along! Goodbye.
