THAT'S IT! The visitors win a final corner, but cannot make anything of it. The ball is cleared and the referee sounds the whistle for the end of the match!
90' +2
Malaga win a corner, but as the ball is coming in, the referee blows his whistle for a foul in the area. It is against the visitors, as the chance goes begging. This gives the hosts a chance to milk more time off the clock.
90'
There will be three minutes added on at the end of the match, surely not enough for Malaga to mount a comeback?
88'
Gabi gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
ATLETICO DOWN TO 10 MEN! Silly challenge from Gabi, who really had no need to make that challenge, near the half way line. The midfielder, already on a yellow card, is given his marching orders by the referee. That should provide Malaga with a small strand of hope as we approach the 90th minute.
87'
Raúl García enters the game and replaces A. Turan.
86'
Luis Alberto enters the game and replaces Juanmi.
Final change from both teams now, with under five minutes to play in the match. Arda Turan is the one to give way for the hosts, and he makes his way off to a thunderous applause from the home supporters!
84'
ATLETICO SURELY HAVE ALL THREE POINTS NOW THROUGH GODIN!
83'
D. Godín has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Tiago.
Another wonderfully worked goal from the hosts! Koke sends a wonderful cross into the danger area, but after Kameni does well to keep the ball out, Tiago sends the rebound over the keeper and across the face of goal for Godin, who heads home into an empty net to secure the points for the hosts.
82'
Saúl enters the game and replaces A. Griezmann.
GREAT SAVE! Greizmann is played through on goal, but cannot slide the ball under an on-rushing Kameni. The hosts are asking many more questions now with their passing attack, but the third goal still eludes them for the time being.
80'
WHAT A CHANCE! The corner is delivered in well by Koke, and after a flick on, it falls for Greizmann at the far post. The striker has Kameni well out of position, but can only put his shot into the side netting from a tight angle!
Minute
Description
78'
Much better! That is more like it from the hosts, as they carve Malaga open on the counter. Turan charges up the pitch and picks out the run of Greizmann, who wins a corner. Atletico appear in no rush to take this.
76'
Approaching the final 10 minutes now and Malaga are growing in confidence. The hosts are still managing to keep possession well, but are playing a dangerous game at the back as they try and keep it away from the visitors, who are pressing high up the pitch.
74'
Recio enters the game and replaces Darder.
Malaga are down to 10-men, but they still manage a promising attack, kept out by some great defending from the Atletico centre-back duo! First Gimenez is able to hold off Santa Cruz, breaking into the area, managing to usher the ball behind for a corner. Then on the ensuing delivery, Godin shows his strength to force a weak header from Sergio Sanchez, and preventing him from getting to the rebound before Moya can collect.
73'
Samu gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
72'
NEARLY THERE! Great defending from the centre-back duo of Atletico, as Jose Gimenez first fends off the threat of Santa Cruz, to usher the ball behind for a corner. Then on the ensuing delivery, Godin is strong enough to force a weak header from Sergio Sanchez, before preventing him from getting to the rebound before Moya can collect.
71'
Sergio Sánchez gets yellow.
70'
Atletico are beginning to take control yet again. Malaga were looking threatening as they chased the game, but that intent seems to have disappeared after scoring. They have to step it up if they are to find an equalizer.
68'
STAT ATTACK: You have to go back to May 12, 2013 to find the last time Atletico Madrid lost a league match at the Vicente Calderon. They have gone 25 matches unbeaten at home since then (W19, D6), the longest streak in Spain's top flight.
66'
CLOSE TO A THIRD! Atletico, eager to restore their two goal lead, get back onto the front foot. Greizmann picks out Jimenez in the centre with a pass, and the striker uses the run of Turan to his right to create space for a shot from just inside the box, but he sends it straight at Kameni, who manages to punch it away!
64'
R. Santa Cruz has scored a goal for Malaga! Assist by Samu Castillejo.
MALAGA PULL ONE BACK IN SPECTACULAR FASHION! GAME ON!
Sensational goal from the visitors, who have new life! Samu Castillejo finds space on the left, and sends a superb ball in for Santa Cruz. The striker rushes on at the far post to meet it, reaching out his foot to turn it in from a near impossible angle! Brilliant finish from the Paraguayan striker!
62'
Ricardo Horta enters the game and replaces Miguel Torres.
61'
SUPERB SAVE! More crafty build up play from the hosts sees them threaten along the left. Ansaldi shows some clever footwork to beat a defender, before sending a wonderful cross in for the substitute Jimenez, but his header is kept out by Kameni, who sprawls across to keep it out.
59'
The hosts win a free kick in a threatening position, from 30 yards out. They commit men forward into the penalty area, with Koke standing over the ball. The midfielder delivers, but Malaga are up to the task defensively, as a strong header sees the ball cleared from danger.
58'
Miguel Torres gets yellow.
57'
R. Jiménez enters the game and replaces M. Mandžukić.
Atletico make their first change of the match, as Mario Mandzukic, who appears to be nursing some sort of injury which he picked up earlier in the match, is replaced at striker by Raul Jimenez.
56'
GREAT CHANCE! Atletico break on a counter, and pass the ball incredibly well to break up the pitch. Mandzukic picks out Gabi, who gets into acres of space just inside the right of the penalty area, but his shot glances inches wide!
54'
JUST WIDE! The free kick is delivered into a dangerous area, and Gabi's flick on is deflected towards goal by Weligton, but it trickles just wide of the far post!
53'
Gabi gets yellow.
The cautions are beginning to pile up now, with Gabi the latest to find his name in the referee's book after a hard tackle just inside his own half. After an opening 45 minutes that saw no cautions given, there have been four in less than 10 minutes in the second frame.
51'
Strong defending from Godin! There is much more intent to the play of the visitors early in this second half, as they look to get forward straight away. A through ball appears to send Juanmi in on goal, but Godin stays strong, as the midfielder topples over in search of a penalty that is not given. Ignacio Camacho is booked seconds later for his protests.
50'
Ignacio Camacho gets yellow.
49'
Nothing comes of the free kick for the hosts, as they try a play straight from the training ground, but Malaga are quick to sniff it out. They look to break, and Greizmann commits a foul, earning himself a booking.
48'
A. Griezmann gets yellow.
47'
Samu gets yellow.
Just a minute into the first half and we have our first yellow card of the match. Samu tries to track the run of Mandzukic, who does well to shield off the ball. The midfielder topples him over from behind, giving away a free kick in a dangerous position.
46'
Malaga get the second half underway at the Vicente Calderon, trailing 2-0 to the defending champions. Can they find a way back into the game?
45' +1
The referee blows his whistle, as Atletico pass it around in midfield, bringing an end to the first half of play at the Vicente Calderon.
45'
There will be one minute of added time...
44'
The fans are in full voice now, as their team appears to be in full control headed towards the break. They continue to keep possession, making it harder than ever on Malaga to try and get back on the ball.
42'
A. Griezmann has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by A. Turan.
GOOOOOOOOAALL! THE HOSTS DOUBLE THEIR LEAD THROUGH GREIZMANN!
It is a sensational goal from the hosts, coming at the end of some exquisite build up play. Diego Godin sends a long ball forward for Turan. He picks out Mandukic, who does well to fend off a defender and send a return pass through to the midfielder, who breaks into the area and sets up Greizmann for an easy tap in with his ball across the face of goal.
38'
The visitors appear to be growing in confidence, with Atletico failing to create very much since scoring the opener. Malaga have a bit more spring in their step going forward now, and despite a lack of service, Santa Cruz has been doing a wonderful job of holding the ball up to wait for support.
36'
STAT ATTACK: Only Barcelona (five) have conceded fewer goals than the nine by Malaga through the first 11 games of the season.
34'
Neither team is doing very much with their possession at the moment, as the match has entered a cagey period. Some strong tackles in midfield have dictated the pace, preventing the game from getting into any sort of flow.
32'
Malaga enjoy a lengthy spell in possession, but they still cannot penetrate the back line of Atletico Madrid. After some passing in midfield, the visitors send a long ball forward, picking out Samu on the right. He tries to pick out Santa Cruz with a cross, but there is too much height on it, allowing Moya to come out and collect.
30'
The hosts have performed admirably in defence, and have yet to be breached through the opening half an hour, preventing so much as a shot on target. Malaga are seriously lacking creativity in the final third, and will have to make some adjustments if they hope to threaten the hosts' one goal advantage.
28'
Gabi is the latest Atletico player to go down injured, just moments after Mandzukic returned to the pitch. The midfielder takes a hard knock to the head from Samu Castillejo, which leaves him down and in need of attention. It was an innocent looking play, however, as there appeared to be no intent from the Malaga player.
26'
STAT ATTACK: The two teams have split their last five head-to-head meetings at the Vicente Calderon, with one draw and two wins a piece.
24'
Great work from Roque Santa Cruz, who gets positioning to head a ball straight to teammate Juanmi, in an attacking position. The midfielder sends an ill-advised return pass to the striker, with a defender draped over his back. He can only fend him off for so long before being dispossessed, and the chance goes begging.
22'
Kameni and Weligton are put under unnecessary pressure after a poor back pass leaves them stranded. The goalkeeper passes off to the defender, who has no space to get it away from danger, giving it straight away to Gabi. The hosts try and expose Malaga on the counter, but the visitors manage to recover and sniff out the chance.
20'
The medical staff is out to attend to Turan, who appears to a be a bit worse for wear after the coming together. He has blood coming from his nose, and is forced to make his way off to the sidelines to get patched up as play is set to resume.
18'
Turan is at the heart of proceedings yet again, as he is down and in considerable pain after appearing to take a boot to the face by Antunes. The referee feels he made the most of it, and does not award a free kick to the hosts.
16'
The early goal has provided the hosts with a further spring in their step, as they continue to push forward and enjoy the bulk of possession. Turan does well to dribble his way out of danger on the right and force Malaga into conceding a free kick. Gabi delivers, but it is blocked by the one man wall, and out for a throw.
14'
STAT ATTACK: Atletico Madrid have now scored a first half goal in each of their six league matches at the Vicente Calderon this season.
12'
Tiago has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Koke.
GOOOOOOOOOOOAALL! TIGAGO GIVES ATLETICO MADRID THE LEAD!
Koke delivers a cross into the area from a corner kick. Tiago rushes on to meet it at the near post, getting a strong head to it, which beats Kameni inside the near post!
11'
Arda Turan and Vitorino Antunes get into a good battle along the right, with the midfielder trying to get a cross in for Mandzukic. Some good defensive work from the Portuguese left-back sees him keep Turan out, and win his side a goal kick, which earns a roar from the visiting supporters.
9'
The visitors win a free kick in the attacking half after Tiago's hard challenge on Samu Castillejo. The delivery from 40 yards out is cleared, and Atletico look to break through Gabi. The midfielder wins a free kick for his team, just inside their own half, and the pressure is relieved.
7'
STAT ATTACK: Malaga have won five consecutive league matches for the first time since April to May of 2011. They had not managed to win more than three in a row since then, a feat they only accomplished twice during that span.
5'
Malaga manage a push forward of their own, but they cannot break down the Atletico Madrid defence who are up to the task. Juanmi chases down a pass and tries to win a corner, but ends up playing the ball out for a throw, conceding possession.
3'
EARLY CHANCE! The hosts generate some good early pressure, putting Malaga on the back foot. They attack down the left, with Antoine Griezmann drifting over to send a lovely ball into the area for Mario Mandukic to attack. The striker cannot make clean contact, as he deflects the ball behind for a goal kick.
1'
Atletico kick off and we are underway at the Vicente Calderon! The hosts, moving left to right, are in their red and white striped tops, with Malaga in light blue and white stripes.
Good day La Liga fans! We have quite the match for you as we get back into the swing of things following the international break. The Vicente Calderon is our venue this evening, where Atletico Madrid get set to host an in form Malaga side. I am Alex Moretto and I will be your in-game host, guiding you through the match LIVE as it happens!
Although they have been picking up results, Atletico Madrid have not looked like the Spanish super power which saw them win the La Liga title last season. Diego Simeone's club have already lost two league matches through 11 games this season, after dropping just four in 38 matches during their title run less than a year ago. They currently trail their inner-city rivals, Real Madrid, by four points, despite beating them earlier this season. Los Rojiblancos can ill-afford to drop many more points if they hope to keep pace with the defending Champions League winners, which starts by picking up a win in front of their home fans here today.
Malaga have rediscovered their form in recent weeks and once again have their eyes set on a place in Europe for next season. The Albicelestes currently sit in sole possession of sixth place, but with just two points separating them and Atletico Madrid in fourth, they could be in a Champions League spot by the end of the day's action.
The teams have been announced, so let us have ourselves a look at the starting line-ups:
SUBS: Raul Garcia, R. Jimenez, Oblak, Saul, Jesus Gamez, C. Rodriguez, Cerci.
MALAGA (4-2-3-1): Kameni; Miguel Torres, Sergio Sanchez, Weligton, Antunes; Camacho, Darder; Samu, Juanmi, Samu Castillejo; Santa Cruz.
SUBS: Horta, Ochoa, Recio, Angeleri, Duda, Boka, Luis Alberto.
Atletico are without centre-back Miranda who picked up a minor injury over the break, while Guillerme Siqueria and Mario Suarez are both suspended. The trio is replaced by Jose Gimenez, Cristian Ansaldi and Tiago.
The players take their spot on the pitch, on what has proven to be a beautiful day in Spain! The atmosphere is fantastic and we are just moments away from the start of the match.
HALF TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 2-0 MALAGA. The hosts are comfortably in front at the break, thanks to goals from Tiago and Antoine Greizmann. Malaga have done little to threaten Atletico at the back, and have shown very few signs of finding a way back into this game. Barring a drastic second half turnaround, three points should be in order for Diego Simeone's club today.
The players are back out onto the pitch, and there does not appear to be any changes in the works from either side as we get set for the final 45 minutes.
I am Alex Moretto and I would like to thank you all for joining me here today. Good bye!
FULL TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 3-1 MALAGA. The hosts were the better team from start to finish, securing all three points thanks to goals from Tiago, Greizmann and Godin. Malaga made it an uncomfortable lead when Santa Cruz cut the advantage in half with his wonderful finish, but that was as close as they would get, as Atletico restored their two goal lead in the 84th minute.
