Mahrez gives the ball away cheaply in the middle of the pitch and Liverpool break through Sterling, but De Laet comes across to clear the ball brilliantly. The Reds keep up the pressure and Cambiasso has cleared for a last-gasp corner for Rodgers' side.
90' +1
S. Gerrard gets yellow.
The officials have indicated that there will be a minimum of four minutes of added time, with Leicester trying to keep play in the corner and see out what would be a fantastic point on their travels.
89'
M. James gets yellow.
Cambiasso and Ulloa play a great exchange of passes between each other to put Nugent in on goal, but the striker drives his effort straight at Mignolet. Leicester keep hold of possession and win a free-kick, which Mahrez is standing over.
88'
POOR! Sterling uses the referee's advantage to brilliantly manouvere a bit of space for himself to get a cross in towards the box, which Markovic meets unmarked but guids his header wide of the post. He has to do better.
87'
BIG CALL! Borini falls down under a challenge from Morgan inside the penalty area but referee Mike Jones isn't interested in Liverpool's appeals for a third penalty.
85'
R. Lambert enters the game and replaces Alberto Moreno.
BIG SAVE! Sakho marauds forward from defence and plays a great through ball to Henderson, who drives hit shot straight at Hamer for a corner after Wasilewski fails to clear the danger.
84'
CHANCE! Mahrez curls in dangerously from the resulting corner towards Mignolet, who parries above Cambiasso well but the ball sits up for Wasilewski, who scuffs his effort wide inside the six-yard box.
82'
Coutinho cuts inside from the left and away from Simpson but his curling effort was blocked by his own man - Borini - and allows Leicester to break and win a corner.
81'
Gerrard plays a great pass to Sterling running down the left hand side, with options left, right and centre, but there was only thing in the winger's mind and that was to shoot, with his effort going straight down the throat of Hamer.
78'
Schlupp receives the ball from James and spins into the pocket of space between Henderson and Can with too much ease, but his cross couldn't be met by anybody in Leicester colours.
Minute
Description
76'
ALMOST!! Henderson ghosts in behind Schlupp and cuts the ball back to Borini all alone inside the Leicester box, but his shot strikes Markovic and bounces clear. It's end-to-end here at Anfield.
75'
L. Ulloa enters the game and replaces J. Vardy.
74'
Vardy is coming off to a great reception from the travelling Leicester fans after putting in a great shift up top today. The striker is being replaced by Foxes top scorer Ulloa for the last 15 minutes.
72'
L. Marković enters the game and replaces Lucas Leiva.
CHANCE! Schlupp picks up the ball down the left flank and cuts it back to Nugent lurking outside the box, with the striker's bending effort striking Sakho and going out for a corner to the Foxes. The former Burnley forward was appealing for handball, but the referee was not interested in his protests.
69'
Pearson's men have got their tails up as the atmosphere inside Anfield has gone silent in the last few minutes. Leicester are finding spaces inside the hosts' half a lot easier to come by and are defending hard as a unit.
67'
E. Cambiasso enters the game and replaces D. Hammond.
WIDE! Vardy wins a free-kick deep into Liverpool's half but Mahrez fails to test Mignolet as he bends the resulting set-piece wide of the goal. The winger slipped in his run-up, mind.
65'
Liverpool up the tempo in a bid to quash Leicester's momentum as Lucas picks up the ball in the middle of the park, but the Brazilian could only drive his shot straight at Hamer.
62'
The away stand is absolutely jumping in response to Leicester pulling two goals back in a matter of minutes at Anfield. Boyhood Evertonian Nugent and Schlupp have both fired the Foxes back into this game and, on the balance of play, it's fair to say they deserve to be level.
60'
J. Schlupp has scored a goal for Leicester City! Assist by R. Mahrez.
GOOOOOALLLLL!! Unbelievable scenes at Anfield as Schlupp makes it 2-2 in a matter of minutes. The winger picks up the ball from Mahrez driving inside from the right flank and finds himself similarly in acres of space just outside the box to bury a low shot past Mignolet.
58'
D. Nugent has scored a goal for Leicester City! Assist by J. Vardy.
GOOOOOALLLLL!! Leicester have pulled one back as Nugent latches onto a great knockdown from Vardy to hit an incredible shot on the half volley into the far corner of Mignolet's goal. Game on at Anfield!
57'
CHANCE! James curls in a great corner which catches Liverpool's defenders all out of position, but Nugent could only head wide. Big chance for the Foxes.
56'
It seems, from first impressions, that Rodgers has ordered Sterling to shift out onto the right hand side to fill in for the injured Lallana, with Borini moving up top.
55'
F. Borini enters the game and replaces A. Lallana.
54'
In-form Liverpool man Lallana, who has scored two goals and an assist in his last two Premier League games, is down and is being replaced by Borini. The ex-Southampton man seems to have injured his knee under no pressure in the middle of the park.
52'
CHANCE!! Vardy brings the ball down on the break really well and spins away from Toure's attempted slide tackle and as he tries to get the ball back onto his stronger left foot inside the box, Sakho dives in excellently and clears the danger.
50'
Henderson steals possession away from James and plays a beautiful lofted ball over the top of Leicester's defence for Sterling to chase, but Wasilewski does enough to track back and win the ball.
48'
De Laet nicks the ball off Lucas from a throw-in inside Liverpool's half and slips in James in the middle of the park, who blasts a shot over the crossbar when found unmarked. The ex-Manchester United man really should have done better with his attempt.
47'
CHANCE! Coutinho picks up the ball from Gerrard between the midfield lines and plays a neat pass through to Sterling, who was ruled offside by the officials. Replays show that the forward was actually onside.
46'
Welcome back! Liverpool kick-off and get us underway for the second-half here at Anfield. The hosts lead Leicester by two goals to nil thanks to a brace from Gerrard from the penalty spot.
45' +1
ALMOST! Liverpool win another corner which Gerrard sends straight to Henderson lurking outside the box and the energetic midfielder drives a first-time shot just wide of the post.
44'
Liverpool send every man up for a corner but Gerrard plays a short one straight to Can, who struggles to get the ball out of his feet and Morgan snuffs out possession. The officials have indicated that three minutes are being added on to this first half.
41'
Leicester boss Pearson looks a bemused figure on the Anfield touchline as his side have performed well in this first half, but find themselves heading towards the interval 2-0 down to two penalties given for handball.
40'
Penalty goal scored by S. Gerrard for Liverpool!
38'
LIVERPOOL HAVE ANOTHER PENALTY!! Coutinho has been absolutely excellent in the first half and yet again drives at the heart of the Leicester defence with a succession of dribbles, with his pass popping up and hitting Simpson on the arm. Gerrard to take again.
37'
D. Nugent enters the game and replaces D. Drinkwater.
Leicester break up the pitch on the counter through Schlupp, but the winger's cross was well dealt with by Mignolet, who plays a quick pass to put Liverpool back on the front foot. Sterling drives at the heart of the Foxes' defence but his shot goes just past the post.
36'
M. Wasilewski gets yellow.
CHANCE! Gerrard curls in a great free-kick which sneaks its way past Leicester's defence, but Toure could only scuff his shot straight at Hamer between the sticks.
34'
Liverpool have started to retain possession a lot easier in the last five minutes with Leicester sat deep in their own half, biding their time to break on the counter-attack. It appears David Nugent is also prepared to come on for the Foxes, with Drinkwater understood to have picked up an injury.
31'
Sakho clips in a ball to Moreno thrusting down the left hand side and the Spaniard plays a great cutback to Lallana in a central position, but the in-form midfielder could only dink a left-footed effort just wide of the post.
29'
If anybody is going to get Leicester back into this game, it is Riyad Mahrez. The French-born winger has been sensational in the first-half, finding space to run into with relative ease, and really should have his name on the scoresheet.
27'
Hamer plays a goal-kick straight to Schlupp in a bit of space in-behind Henderson down the left flank and the youngster drives a low cross towards Vardy, but Lucas mops up the ball brilliantly and clears the danger.
24'
Liverpool break up the pitch through Coutinho as the Brazilian plays a great pass towards Henderson forcing his way down the left hand side, but Moreno took over play from the Englishman and drives a right-footed effort into the arms of Hamer.
22'
Mahrez drives his free-kick towards Mignolet, but the ball takes a deflection and goes over the crossbar for a corner. The resulting corner from Drinkwater flies straight into the arms of the Reds' Belgian shot-stopper, who gobbles up play comfortably.
21'
Lucas Leiva gets yellow.
Mahrez breaks forward with real strength through the middle of the pitch and wins his side a free-kick as Lucas clatters into the side of him. The free-kick is in a similar spot to where the winger struck the post in the first minute.
19'
Simpson plays a great one-two with Mahrez down the right and bends in a delicious cross towards the back post, but Schlupp fails to get his header on target.
17'
Penalty goal scored by S. Gerrard for Liverpool!
GOOOOALLLLL!! Liverpool have taken the lead thanks to a cooly-taken penalty from Gerrard. The Reds captain buries the ball comfortably into the net after Morgan was believed to have handled the ball in the box.
16'
Coutinho marauds through midfield and plays a lovely reverse pass to Sterling making tracks, with the winger seeing his cutback strike Morgan sliding in. Referee Jones had no hesitation pointing to the spot. Gerrard to take for Liverpool.
15'
LIVERPOOL HAVE A PENALTY!
13'
The opening few minutes have shown that Leicester have deployed De Laet at left-back, with Schlupp just ahead of him. Mahrez is operating on the right hand side for the Foxes and has been a live wire so far.
11'
CHANCE!! Schlupp rolls Can down the left flank and bursts forward with great pace and finds Mahrez all alone inside the penalty area, but the winger slices the ball over the crossbar unmarked. Another big chance for the visitors to break the deadlock.
9'
Hammond is caught in possession again as Coutinho breaks through the middle of the pitch and plays a through ball for Sterling to run onto, but Hamer comes out and thwarts the rapid forward excellently. Both sides have made a lively start to this game so far.
8'
Coutinho picks up the ball deep into Leicester's half and catches De Laet ball watching as he easily slips a neat pass in-behind the full-back to an onrushing Henderson, but the former Sunderland midfielder was just offside.
6'
Toure returns to the pitch after picking up a knock when jumping for the ball and is forced into action straight away. Simpson curls in a great cross towards Vardy from right-back, but the ex-Arsenal man clears the danger well as Liverpool break.
3'
Leicester boss Pearson will be absolutely delighted with the positive start his side have made to this game. The Foxes have set their stall out early and Liverpool are struggling to get out of their own half at the moment.
2'
CHANCE!! Leicester winger Mahrez almost silences the Kop and gets his side off to the perfect start after he strikes the post with a clever free-kick from the right flank. An early scare for the hosts.
1'
Leicester kick-off and get us underway here at Anfield. The man in charge of the cards today is Mike Jones.
Hello and welcome to our LIVE text commentary of today's Premier League clash between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield on New Year's Day. I'm Matthew Judge and I will be your host for the match, which kicks off in 30 minutes time.
Both teams are coming into today's match on the back of wins in their final Premier League outings in 2014. Liverpool managed to brush aside Swansea City 4-1 at Anfield on Monday, while Leicester picked up a 1-0 win away at Hull City last Sunday.
The Reds, who have previously lost just one of their seven Premier League fixtures played at Anfield on New Year's Day, are aiming for a third consecutive win in the top-flight, while the Foxes are looking to pick up three points in a bid to move off the foot of the league table.
This fixture was, of course, not contested last season as Leicester were in the Championship during the 2013/14 campaign, but Liverpool have won their last three home meetings against the Foxes. The Merseysiders also won the reverse fixture between the two at the King Power Stadium at the start of December 3-1.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS..
LIVERPOOL (3-4-3): Mignolet; Can, Toure, Sakho; Henderson, Gerrard (c), Lucas Leiva, Moreno; Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana.
LIVERPOOL substitutes: Ward, Manquillo, Lovren, Markovic, Ojo, Borini, Lambert.
LEICESTER CITY (4-5-1): Hamer; Simpson, Wasilewski, Morgan, Schlupp; De Laet, James, Hammond, Drinkwater, Mahrez; Vardy.
LEICESTER CITY substitutes: Smith, Moore, Cambiasso, Lawrence, Knockaert, Nugent, Ulloa.
TEAM NEWS: Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has made four alterations to the side that won 1-0 against Hull City at the KC Stadium in their last match, with Ritchie De Laet, Danny Drinkwater, Dean Hammond and Jamie Vardy all coming into the starting lineup.
TEAM NEWS: Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has made just one change from the side that beat Swansea City 4-1 at Anfield on Monday, with skipper Steven Gerrard replacing Javier Manquillo, who has dropped to the bench.
We are just five minutes away from kick-off here at Anfield. Just to reiterate, Liverpool are coming into today's match unbeaten in their last three league matches, while Leicester are looking to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since September.
HALF-TIME! Liverpool head into the break in front thanks to a Gerrard brace from the spot. Leicester have been a lot better than the scoreline suggests, with replays showing that the first spot-kick award was rather harsh from referee Mike Jones, as the ball clearly strikes Morgan in the face rather than on the arm.
As things stand across the Premier League, Liverpool will move up to seventh in the table if results stay the same. Leicester, on the other hand, will stay rock bottom of the Premier League if they can't find a route back into this game in the second half.
FULL-TIME! Leicester come back from two goals down to snatch a point in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on New Year's Day. Second half goals from Nugent and Schlupp cancel out a brace from Gerrard via the penalty spot.
With Burnley, Crystal Palace, QPR and West Brom all picking up a point apiece across the Premier League today - while Hull City managed to beat Everton 2-0 on home soil - it was vital Leicester picked up something in the relegation scrap at the bottom of the table today.
Leicester's point means they are still bottom of the table on 14 points, but they are now unbeaten in their last two games and in a good bit of form. Liverpool, on the other hand, have stayed eighth after throwing away a two-goal lead at Anfield.
As always, thank you for joining us for today's LIVE text commentary of the clash between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield. I'm Matthew Judge and it has been a great pleasure talking you through all the action. We hope to see you again very soon. Take care!
While Liverpool entered the second-half with a two-goal lead, they simply never got started in the second 45 minutes and were caught cold by Nugent and Schlupp's strikes in a matter of minutes after the interval.
FA Cup action takes over now, with Liverpool travelling away to AFC Wimbledon while Leicester play hosts to Newcastle United. Next up in the league for both sides is a trip to Sunderland for the Merseysiders and a home visit from Aston Villa for the Foxes.
