Van Dijk is now playing as one of three strikers alongside Austin and Long. Ball after ball is being thumped up towards them, but Burnley are dealing with everything that's being thrown at them as time quickly runs out for the Saints.
90'
J. Ward-Prowse enters the game and replaces S. Boufal.
Southampton have made a late switch, with Boufal making way for James Ward-Prowse. Can he make the all-important difference for his side?
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.

Another hopeful cross is lumped into the Burnley penalty area and towards one of three Southampton players, but, once again, the visitors have plenty of bodies back and are able to deal with the danger without too many problems.
88'
A thumping lofted pass flies up towards the Burnley box and manages to pick out Long in a pocket of space. The striker quickly tries to set up Redmond with a downward header, but Mee reads the danger well and is there to make sure the ball can't find the forward.
87'
Another high and looping ball is fired in from a Southampton corner and towards a group of Southampton players camped in front of goal, but Pope is able to watch it all the way before easily collecting the ball under very little pressure.

Boufal tries to pick out Long with a looping cross into the box, but it's well dealt with by the Burnley back line and bounces behind for a corner that's defended nicely at the near post.
83'
The atmosphere inside the stadium has really soured, with plenty of Southampton fans showing their displeasure at what they've seen today. The home side are really struggling to find much joy inside the final third of the pitch, where Burnley are defending brilliantly.
81'
S. Vokes has scored a goal for Burnley! Assist by J. Guðmundsson.
That was a really good cross from Gudmundsson, who put the ball on a plate for Vokes. Burnley have looked much better since bringing on two strikers, and it always looked as if a goal was coming to come from a looping cross into the box.
GOAL! Burnley have finally taken the lead! Gudmundsson gets himself into a good position out wide and swings an excellent cross into the heart of the Southampton penalty area. Vokes rises high above his marker and latches onto the ball before beating Forster with a great header down into the game. The Saints are stunned!
79'
Davis goes close! Oriol Romeu dispossesses Vokes just inside the Burnley half of the pitch and sets up Southampton to quickly counter-attack. Davis twists and turns on the edge of the penalty area and eventually gets a shot away, but there's slightly too much power behind the effort and it sails over the crossbar.
77'
A long cross is fired into the heart of the Southampton penalty area and flicks on to Brady at the far post. The Irishman quickly shoots, but his effort is closed down well by Van Dijk and fails to test Forster.

73'
Burnley patiently work the ball around just inside the Southampton half of the pitch as they try to find an opening in front of them, but another attempted attacking move fails to come to anything after a hopeful pass forward bounces behind for a goal-kick.
71'
After a slightly slow start to the second half, Burnley are starting to get more involved in the game as we enter the final 20 minutes. They're pushing more bodies forward and are beginning to be more of an attacking threat thanks to the introduction of Barnes and Vokes.
69'
What a chance for Vokes! The striker brings down a lofted pass forward from Tarkowski and brings Brady into the game. He plays a quick one-two with the Irishman before darting into the box, but he decides to cut the ball back instead of shooting from close range and the home side easily deal with the danger.
67'
Slightly sloppy play by Brady sees him lose the ball in the middle of the pitch, allowing Southampton to counter-attack quickly. They can't take advantage of the error though, as Tarkowski easily deals with Redmond out wide thanks to a well-timed sliding tackle.
65'
S. Vokes enters the game and replaces C. Wood.
C. Austin enters the game and replaces M. Gabbiadini.
A. Barnes enters the game and replaces J. Hendrick.
Burnley have decided to make a double substitution as they try to find a way in front. The first player to come on is Sam Vokes, who replaces Wood.
And the second is Ashley Barnes, who takes the place of Jeff Hendrick.
Meanwhile, Southampton have taken off Gabbiadini to be replaced by former Burnley striker Charlie Austin.
63'
A clever pass from Cedric penetrates the penalty area and picks out Tadic, who gets the better of Cork but can't beat Mee and has to settle for a corner. He had a great opportunity to shoot but was really well dealt with by the Burnley centre-back.
61'
Bertrand skips down the left wing and gets himself into a good position just outside of the Burnley box. He heads along the byline and then chips a cross towards Gabbiadini, but it's poorly hit by the full-back and fails to pick out the Italian in front of goal.
59'
Boufal and Cedric link up well deep down the right flank before the latter tries to send a cross into the visitors' penalty area, but it's poorly hit by the Portuguese and sails comfortably behind the goal instead of towards a team-mate.
57'
And now Redmond goes close! The forward plays a quick one-two with Gabbiadini on the edge of the Burnley box before trying to get a shot away, but he stumbles at the last possible moment and knocks the ball behind for a goal-kick.
56'
Thumping strike by Yoshida! Pope darts out to try and deal with the resulting corner, but he can only fumble the ball out to Yoshida. The centre-back quickly unleashes a rocket of a shot, and it's one that Pope tips over the crossbar with an excellent diving save.
55'
Cedric and Redmond link up nicely on the edge of the Burnley penalty area before the latter pokes a pass over to Bertrand. The full-back quickly shoots, but Gudmundsson is there to stick out a leg and deflect the ball behind for a corner.
54'
Great chance for Gabbiadini! A lovely, curling cross from Cedric penetrates the heart of the Burnley penalty area and picks out Gabbiadini, who rises high above his marker but can only send a glancing header wide of the far post.
52'
There's a brief scar for Stephen Ward as the left-back goes down after stretching a little too far. It initially looks as if he's going to have to make way, but after a few moments receiving medical treatment the defender is able to make his way back onto the pitch.
50'
A miskick from Matthew Lowton presents Redmond with an opportunity to break down the left flank on a marauding run, but he can't make it count and a poor pass into the penalty area is comfortably dealt with by the Burnley defence.
48'
The second half has started in much the same way the first finished, with both sides battling for possession inside the Burnley half of the pitch. Southampton will be looking to put more pressure on their opponents than they did before the break as they desperately try to break down a stubborn defence.
46'
We're underway once again!
45'
Southampton try to push forward on one final attack before the half-time break, but they're unable to find a way through Burnley's compact and well-organised back line, allowing the visitors to comfortably hold on.
44'
After dealing with the danger, it's Burnley's turn to counter-attack swiftly, but, not for the first time this afternoon, Gudmundsson brings a promising attacking move to a disappointing end with a poor long-range effort that Forster can watch sail high over the crossbar.
43'
Great save by Pope! A lovely pass from Tadic sets up Southampton to counter-attack quickly over on the left wing. The forward cuts inside and heads towards the box before shooting, but his low effort is well stopped at the near post by the towering figure of Pope.
41'
Brady sprints down the left wing and does well to spin round Yoshida after being held up by the Japanese defender near to the corner flag. He then sets up Jack Cork to swing a cross into the middle of the penalty area, where Fraser Forster just about manages to collect the ball ahead of Wood.
39'
Once again, Bertrand is presented with a good opportunity to open the scoring after the ball isn't fully cleared by the Burnley back line, but Tarkowski is there to block the effort in front of goal to deny the full-back an opener for Southampton.
37'
Mee is caught by Boufal on the halfway line, resulting in a free-kick for Burnley. It's sent long and manages to pick out Mee on the edge of the penalty area, but he can't find a team-mate with his header and sends the ball behind for a goal-kick instead.
35'
Southampton keep pushing forward as they continue trying to find a way in front. Bertrand and Redmond link up well on the edge of the visitors' penalty area before the latter pokes a pass across the face of goal, but it's sent too near to Pope and is easily collected by the goalkeeper.
34'
Great chance for Boufal! A looping cross into the heart of the Burnley box is met by Tarkowski, but the defender can only head the ball behind to Boufal. He quickly shoots, but his thumping effort is well saved by Pope at the near post.
32'
Burnley push forward on a rare attack down the left wing and finally win the first corner of the game. Brady's cross into the box is initially dealt with before the Irishman receives the ball once again, but he can't do anything with it and the home side hold on.
30'
Space opens up for Redmond after Burnley lose possession inside their own half of the pitch, presenting the forward with a great opportunity to dart towards the penalty area. He gets himself into a good position and shoots, but his 20-yard effort is poorly hit and fails to hit its intended target.
28'
Redmond makes a positive run down the left flank before poking a cross into the heart of the box. Tadic picks up the ball with his back to goal and quickly tries to spin and shoot, but he's crowded out by claret and blue shirts and is dispossessed before he can do so.
26'
Tadic whips a clever cross into the middle of the visitors' penalty area and manages to pick out Bertrand in a promising position inside the box. The defender can't make decent contact with it, however, and ends up sending his looping header high over the crossbar.
24'
Redmond picks up the ball midway inside the Burnley half of the pitch and quickly threads a clever pass into the box. Pope does well to rush out and meet it before momentarily fumbling the ball, but he's able to collect it once again before Gabbiadini can take advantage of the slight error.
22'
Robbie Brady drifts out to the right flank and does well to get himself into a decent position. He then tries to pick out Wood with a curling cross over to the far post, but there's slightly too much power behind it and the ball sails behind for a goal-kick.
21'
Van Dijk charges deep into the Burnley half of the pitch and does well to pick out Ryan Bertrand over on the left flank. The full-back tries to play a quick one-two with Redmond as he darts into the penalty area, but the latter's pass back is poor and easily cut out.
19'
It's been a slightly slow start to the game from both sides. Southampton are seeing more of the ball but are struggling to do much with it due to solid defending from Burnley, while the visitors have found it difficult to get Wood involved inside the final third.
17'
Redmond loses out on the left-hand side of the Burnley box and allows Gudmundsson to fire a thumping pass towards Wood, but the striker is easily dealt with by Virgil van Dijk and Southampton are able to start again from the back.
15'
A poor backwards pass from Redmond bounces out for a throw-in midway inside the hosts' half of the pitch. Burnley patiently make their way down the right wing before Gudmundsson unleashes another long-range strike, but this one is well blocked by Maya Yoshida on the edge of the Southampton penalty area.
13'
A looping cross from Cedric Soares isn't quite dealt with by the visitors, allowing Southampton to come back once again. Redmond's ball into the box is a better one and causes a few problems for the Burnley back line, but Tarkowski does well to scoop it away at the near post.
11'
The ball pinballs around the Southampton penalty area as the home side fail to fully deal with the danger. Chris Wood manages to pick up possession near to the byline, but he can't quite find a way past two defenders and loses out before he can either shoot or tee up a team-mate.
9'
Space opens up inside the Southampton half of the pitch and allows Johann Berg Gudmundsson to burst forward on Burnley's first attack of the afternoon. He quickly shoots from 30 yards out, but his long-range effort is tame and bounces well wide of the goal.
7'
Southampton keep pushing forward as they continue putting Burnley under early pressure. Steven Davis tries to pick out Manolo Gabbiadini with a chipped cross into the visitors' penalty area, but it's comfortably dealt with by Ben Mee before it can find the Italian striker in front of goal.
5'
Lovely play by Sofiane Boufal sets him up to play a quick one-two with Redmond over on the left-hand side of the Burnley box. He then manages to get a shot away, but it's a tame effort that's easily stopped by James Tarkowski before it can test Nick Pope.
3'
After an even start to the game, it's Southampton who push forward on the first attacking move of the game. Nathan Redmond darts down the left wing and into space before trying to tee up Dusan Tadic, but the Serbian is quickly closed down and can't make decent contact with the ball.

We're off! Burnley get us underway, attacking from left to right.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Southampton and Burnley at St. Mary’s.
Things have looked better for a slightly lacklustre Southampton side in recent weeks, and they head into today’s clash unbeaten in their last three league outings. They’ve only managed to win two of their previous 11 home clashes, however, and will be desperate to follow last month’s narrow victory at home to West Bromwich Albion with their first back-to-back wins at St. Mary’s since last December.
In a run stretching back to the end of April, Southampton have failed to score in nine of their last 16 Premier League games, and it’s certainly in forward areas where they have struggled to impose themselves. As a result, it could be a long and difficult afternoon for them today, as they must take on a Burnley side that are enjoying their best start to a top-flight season since 1973.
Sean Dyche is continuing to do a wonderful job with Burnley, so it’s no wonder rumours are circulating that he’s being considered for the Everton job. An excellent start to the new domestic campaign has seen the Clarets lose just two of their opening 10 games, with an impressive run on the road leaving them equal on points with sixth-place Liverpool heading into this afternoon’s contest.
Southampton’s attackers will have to be at their best if they’re to find a way through Burnley’s determined and well-organised back line. Solid defensive performances have resulted in them picking up four Premier League clean sheets already, although the Saints have also impressed at the back and could cause similar problems for Dyche’s side, who will be hoping that the return of Chris Wood can help them to another victory.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Mauricio Pellegrino has decided to make two changes to the Southampton side that started the draw against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, with Maya Yoshida and Nathan Redmond coming into the starting line-up to replace Wesley Hoedt and James Ward-Prowse, respectively.
Meanwhile, Burnley boss Sean Dyche has made just one alteration to the team that featured in their last outing, with Ashley Barnes making way for the fit again Chris Wood.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 0-0 BURNLEY
Little of note has happened so far, and Sean Dyche will certainly be the happier of the two managers heading into the half-time break. Burnley have sat back and comfortably soaked up the pressure being put on them by the hosts, limiting Southampton to just a few half-decent shots from the edge of the penalty area. Redmond started to get more involved in the game as the first period wore on, but, so far, he's failed to have the desired effect.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 0-1 BURNLEY
Another excellent away performance from Burnley has resulted in them picking up their fifth league victory of the season, temporarily moving them equal on points with both Chelsea and Arsenal. They sat back for large sections of the game and soaked up the pressure being put on them before hitting Southampton on the counter-attack, and, in the end, they were finally able to find that all-important winner thanks to a brilliant header from substitute Vokes.
